And thanks for all the info. He seems to have gotten some ideas from it.
And now he's noticed one of them is starting to get tiny red spots on him. He compared it to
this, though said a bit milder.
Before assuming he has bugs, is there any possibility that this could be from the fighting?
I don't know what that is but I know sometimes rats with red eyes cry red and if there white you can see little bits of red on them from when they were grooming but thats not that

Well.. I have two boys awaiting their adopter to come get them, and then near Halloween I'll be breeding two of my girls for their final time. With this, I expect possum face. So I'm excited and waiting is taking forever..
anyway. OT but I'm having issues with my bearded dragons, all three. ;_; I may have to adopt out Nom because, well, simply because she has neurologic problems and I cannot tend to her 100% as she needs.. which brings me to the next part.
my heart rat, Elijah, has had a stroke. He's recouping alright and is taking to meds nicely, but I'm still nervous for him. Anyone else go through this?

I can't really see the picture correctly but if they are really really tiny then you've probably got bugs on the rat. I don't know, though. If it's on the skin, then you've got scabs definitely.
As for rats crying red, that's not only in red/pink eyes, it's in all rats. Called poryphorin, and i probably misspelled that. It's little red stuff that comes out of their eyes as well as their noses. All rats get that.

The red from the eyes (& nose) is called porphyrin, its normal in small amounts
The tiny red spots sound like mites

Well my mom and I went to a pet store where they had rats, and I made her gently hold one, and she screamed a little bit but I helped her hold it properly and pet it and she was a little bit more calm. I like the store, they keep only female rats and young ones at that. The rats have a nice sized cage and toys to play with. I think she will let me get a few. c:

That's how I got my first rats! ^.^ We went to the pet store the very day they got new shipments in and I let her see them and pet them and then the pet shop worker comes in and starts talkin to us about how amazing pet rats are, because he has them as well. My mom was convinced after that, but she was still grossed out by them. Now, my mom adores them!

Have you ever had a rat?: : Yes

I have four rats. They are all girls. Pickle is a black and white rat (she's the curious troublemaker). Pistachio is all white (she is very compliant) . Packzi is cream and white (she's fat and a biter). Peanut Butter (or PButt for short) is also cream and cream (she's really timid and claws when she gets spooked). I love them all though!
