@Simon
Okay, counting them together does make more sense than what I thought had happened (that you'd maybe you'd written out the option, but some glitch had happened and it had got deleted, or something along that line). I still think they're sufficiently different to merit separate biomes, but they're definitely in a similar vein. Just they don't normally have many of the same types of species within each group, and to me that seems more important in how clan biomes would work than the climate. But counting them under forests does still make sense. Definitely a lot more sense than under any of the other groups as well~
Probably quite a lot of marshes and swamps do fit into forest, but I'm thinking more about the extreme swampiness in (I think) Marshclan, where there's enough water to allow crocodiles into the territory. Certainly, there's not a lot of clans that seem to fall into the category, but as they include one of the canon clans, I kind of want to err on the side of humouring it. I think in most territories just making one trait of the biome more extreme to signify it's not typical of that biome is probably plenty of adjustment if anyone wants that (done by themselves), though.
My source is A-Level Geography and Biology knowledge~
I just thought that it should probably be mentioned that uplandy type marshes I would put under grasslands, as well as moorland and farmland, as well. I think most environments can kind of just be under one of the previously mentioned groupings but with a mild additional modifier on the player's part, so just having the main branches of biomes is all that mods have to fuss with there.
I really like that sterilisation idea! I totally agree on the initial cats not being sterile, as yeah, that wouldn't be fair on their clans (and obviously, if they want to go on hardcore mode, I'm pretty sure you could just ask to start getting sterilised cats earlier). Having a multiple of 4 kind of makes the most sense in a sort of knee-jerk thought way, due to being able to have nice family trees where none of the grandparents are related, but that's sort of a moot point once the clan asks for cats from Starclan, so just having multiples of 2 for the wild-type fertility limit might be a reasonable way to manage it. I think 10 is probably a reasonable figure as a guess. You'd sort of need to have a test clan do it to see if 10 worked for it, but I'd think it would be pretty close to the right figure at least. I feel like 10 is a decent size for a starting gene pool in any clan.
Also, I think if they find an apprentice, it shouldn't always be sterilised- maybe there's some sort of roll done to determine it?- but there'd be enough sterilised, and enough of a delay on those that have not been sterilised, that it would still have that dynamic to it. Maybe there'd also be fewer loner queens as well, because most of the mollies have been sterilised before they can become queens.

so, i have successfully written two beautiful pieces of conversation that i hope you will all like. There will be a lot more to my posts over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for drama, romance, and possibly even a few early deaths! i am thinking that i might make Jinxstar lose a life before the war starts. he is starting to get older and i have an idea that i will need to talk to Deimos about.

I'm baaaack - I need some help with my new meddy kitty. <3 here he/she is! For now I'm thinking she-cat to balance by genders, probably about 18 moons? Something young to start out. tbh he/she will probably die early to spark some drama once I have an apprentice But I'm thinking he/she will be a big ole day-dreamer, very distracted, has a tendency to day dream in the middle of conversations, giggles a lot at really stupid stuff, very smol bean.
Naming her is where I need some good help. I'm thinkingggg...
Hazel-
Rabbit-/Hare-
Finch-
Sparrow-
Twig-
Heather-
Fern-
Holly-
Honey-
Mumble-
Little-/Tiny-
I really like the combos Littlefeather, Mumblecloud, Littlebreeze, or Hazelfern but I dunno. I want something to emphasis so little she is cause she's super small under all that fluff - hehe.

@Echo
Depends on the naming system you're using.
In my system you can't use that because you can subdivide it into a different name which would be valid, essentially. But Goldenrods are actual plants with a clear cat-like colour on them, and they have a name the cats would actually be able to devise (by which I mean it's not named after a concept that cats wouldn't understand), so if you don't subscribe to the names-must-be-only-one-concept, and names-cannot-contain-another-concept thing, then there's no major reason left you can't use it, as far as I can see.
So it's up to you if it's valid.
I mean, the actual series has a cat called Whiskernose, and as all cats have whiskers, and there are no plants or animals I am aware of which "whisker" could refer to, so it's basically like calling a human child "Has a face", I'm pretty sure Goldenrod- is fine unless you've got the no-subdivision rule.
Also, cats not even knowing something apparently isn't a valid reason for the name not being used in canon. (*Glares at Loki, and Samwise, because culture doesn't osmose between species, and also, it's a bit weird to specify that J.R.R.Tolkein exists in your fantasy series, imo*. *Also glares at Sol, because there's literally no reason, even inter-species culture osmosis, which is a rubbish reason, that a modern cat outside a Catholic family or the family of a fanatical Classics teacher would speak Latin. Like, by all means use a language to show where a cat comes from, but Sol comes from 410AD, apparently*.)
There's not a lot of canon rules about names, basically, so I'm sure Goldenrod- should be fine in most systems. As far as canon subscribes, anything goes, even if it makes literally no sense, which is why I think it's entirely up to you to work out what you think is acceptable in your clan.
(Can you tell I dislike how names have ended up being done in canon?)

@Chamrosh: Amen. Canon names aren't all that great. That's why I use a different system. c: I would have used my personal naming system (from the Lake Tahoe clans) but I figured that moving the clan a continent away...would be a little inconvenient for Gatherings.

@simon
I just pick names that make me happy, if I like how it sounds and it goes with their looks, personality, or my territory then it fits. I don't really worry about if its canon/original/traditional. I actually could care less. I find if I left it to that they would all be boring names or I would sort of run out. I have come up with names like Solar, Soul, etc. That I love and I just don't care they aren't necessarily "right". I like how it sounds and fits so it's happening! Sure if you switched it to human it would be weird but they're cats not humans
