Fantasy is my absolute faaaavorite genre and makes up probably 80% of what I read. I gravitate towards adult fantasy but enjoy a good YA fantasy as well. Right now I'm reading The Wicked King by Holly Black which is book 2 in a YA fantasy. Its pretty darn enjoyable, not my favorite thing on the earth but definitely scratching my itch for politics and steamy romance with an interesting fantasy backdrop.
My favorite fantasy series are Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson, The First Law by Joe Abercrombie, Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, uhmmm thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I have so many anticipated fantasy releases for the rest of 2019 tho. The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White, A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie, Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir, The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young, The Dragon Republic by RF Kuang...I could go on. The end of 2019 is going to be so bad for my wallet lmao.
Right now I'm trying to work on reading less popular fantasy. I feel like I've torn my way through at least one book from most of the big authors in the game right now (or at the least I own a book by them). I want to explore newer and also more diverse authors, particularly women of color because lord knows they're underrepresented in SFF.
Though I do also want to tackle The Wheel of Time at some point before the TV show comes out. I tried to read it like...three or four times in the past and always gave up around page 200, in fact I think I got rid of my copy of the first book oops. But its been a few years and I want to give it another chance. I've been CRAVING a massive, epic, sweeping fantasy story that'll take me months and months to devour and since Stormlight won't be complete for yearssss I might as well try WOT.
