ok so lately most of the RPs I've been in have died before they really took off, so I haven't been improving much. This is why I really want a super-literate onexone with someone who will stay committed and, if they lose interest or no longer have the time, will tell me so I am not left hanging. You should be pretty active, too; of course I'm not expecting you to be able to churn out 1,000 word+ replies daily, but a response every one or two weeks would do. Ideally you would also be seeking to challenge yourself, so if you don't think you can keep above 500 words or if you think 1,000 is too little, this probably would not work out very well. Also, remember it's just an experiment to see how far we can push ourselves, so don't be afraid that I'm going to flip out on you if you don't do exactly what I want because I'm pushing my comfort zone, too.
And now for the plot:
I have this idea for a romance between two characters that are about as opposite as can be and yet have the same interests at heart. There will be this poor small town boy working in a coffee shop to save up money so he can escape, and there will be this rich city girl (I was slightly inspired by Don't Stop Believin', lol) struggling to make her famous father proud so that he'll pay attention to her for once in her life. They're both trying to make their places in the world, but he'll be doing it to get away from his drunkard of a father and she'll be doing it to please hers. Which is fine and dandy and all, but there's a catch: he has younger siblings that he can't leave to fend for themselves, and she has a little brother that she doesn't want to abandon, either, because she's afraid he'll grow up to feel as forgotten as she has. So they're both trying to go places, but there's something holding them back. It's a choice between their personal desires and the well-being of their siblings'.
They'd be pretty different personality-wise, too, but like their circumstances, with similar roots. He'd be hotheaded and sharp-tongued and brilliant, and she'd be sleek and classy and coolly calculating. His brand of charm would be a rugged, rough-around-the-edges kind that's difficult to appreciate at first but really easy to admire once you get to know him, and hers would be a carefully manufactured one that doesn't hold up once you inspect it too closely. Because they're both totally lost, only he takes pride in it and she's desperate to cover it up.
Anyways, they meet at the coffee shop he works at the summer before they start college, so they'd both be around eighteen or so. She's visiting the town for reasons that are as of right now unknown, and things will start from there.
Things we need to figure out:
who's playing who
why she's visiting in the first place
things that they will argue and fight over (because I THRIVE on conflict); one idea is that she offers to help pay for his school tuition and he gets all angry because he hates pity
the way that their story will end (or we could just, you know, blunder through everything and work it out as we go along)
We won't make forms because I've found through experience that a lot of RPs fail when their players never get around to doing them, and I'd like to develop our characters as we get to know them more through RPing. Also, I'd like it to take place on AS because I want to stay on the safe side in case the situation with the abusive father isn't child-friendly enough for CS.
Whew, that was a lot of more than I meant to say, but I guess these posts usually turn out that way. Anyways, if you managed to make it through that huge block of text and you're still interested, shoot me a PM or reply on this thread or something.
