Does anyone else find it incredibly shallow that certain roleplays require you to have all these gifs/lovely formatting in order to be literate?
Yes, it looks appealing but how is that judging you on your writing skill?
I've seen so many illiterate roleplays with lovely forms and layouts.
It's the writing skill that matters, not all the fancy layouts/text.
It just bothers me really. :c
Don't forget that most have the forms coded for them! I hate it when I come across a lovely roleplay, but the owner is just as illiterate as everybody else joining.

>> omg I think this topic has come up a ton of times, actually.
>> I 100% agree, you shouldn't judge literacy on coding skill. the thing that I always say is something along the lines of 'ok, so if I have perfect grammar, spelling, and can easily write 7 paragraphs of non-fluff, but since I didn't code my form nice, you don't want me. but since that person has a pretty form, you'll accept them even though they use commas like glitter and don't understand the differences between "they're", "there", and "their"?' like honestly, you shouldn't judge how well someone writes by the patience they have to care about how a form looks.
>> requiring someone to have a nice form to be accepted is ludicrous and unfair. you shouldn't have to make someone pay more attention to the aesthetics of a form more than the writing quality.
>> I actually make it a thing in my rules that says that I'll basically skip over your form if there are too many images. some people put too much stuff in and then have like 3 sentences for their personality. and I'm just like 'if your form is full of eye burning colors and too many images, I'm more likely to deny it" |(

ooc ; I also think that is true - it's almost as if the coding is the main focus and it kind of takes over the writing.
But, then again, it does make the writing more exciting to read, don't you think?
Then, I have a question: how do people manage to have muse all the time? The times I have muse are totally not the times I am on chickensmoothie.. Is there, like, a way to stimulate your brain in able to think harder so that your writing results are better? I always struggle with quality - quantity is fine, but I never manage to write as well as I would like to. EDIT: I am always jealous of the quality of my roleplaying partners' post - and shhh but one of them is Fate xD - so I feel like I am letting them down when I don't write well enough.

"The shadows are haunting us, taunting us.. Driving us mad... What can we do other then flee? What can we do other then die..."
It was normal, it was all normal until that day. Until that silly, thought to be un-significant day. That day in Grovertown Federal Prison you were there, either as a prisoner yourself or as a visitor within the halls. You blame lack of sleep or too much heat when you started to notice objects moving on their own, it was impossible, and so you were just having a hallucination. Brushing it off as it were no big deal your day continued, now ignoring the objects and the almost... foul smelling air. There was nothing to be worried about. But then, then that's were things get interesting.
An explosion, maybe a bombing, maybe someone's escape route, either way it blasted through the stonewalls of the prison and rendered you unconscious. Upon awakening you notice that everything is normal, the walls are in tack, everything is in place, and that there would be no evidence that there was ever any harm done to this place. But something is very much so wrong though- everyone is gone. Only you and a couple of others are left, left as chewtoys to the shadows. They seem to be moving and growing more and more violent. It's like they're demons haunting you, making you feel and act like a fool. You're growing desperate now, and you need to find an escape.
But when you do find your one way ticket out of here you may just see that your troubles have only just begun...
-------
Basically you were for some reason within the quaters of Govertown Federal Prison. When after a couple of strange "hallucinations" a giant explosion came. It knocked you out and when you woke up you realized that you were alone, all but a few other souls trapped in here like you. There's no escape from this place. The windows and doors are unopenable. Eventually you'll find a trap door, going down it you'll find a labyrinth type place, filled with challenges only the most noble- or foolish could face without fear. After all that is complete you come to the world above to find out it's been destroyed, and is in ruins, there's no people, only a demonic type creature known as the Shadow-Goths, who've been haunting you since the beginning of all this. We'll eventually find the "main" goth, who's the reason the human race has been destroyed. Trying to kill him fails, and in the end we all die.
But it's not over yet.
You wake up, in a hospital bed. You've been in a coma for a few months since the prison incident. You find the others that were in the "dream" with you, you can all remember each other and what happened. Why? Because of a reason you don't know yet... But you and your newfound companions are the switch for the apocalypse. You're going to decide humanity's fate.
We'd start at the beginning of course. From there we'd move on through the stages above. In the end it'd be a fighting between light & dark. Our characters were given this "prophecy" from a race called the Guardians, to help make sure this fate doesn't happen. But our roleplay would be in the prophecy itself at first.
If this doesn't work we could always think of something else.
I love this idea. I would so join c:

Quality over quantity, man. Don't slip into purple prose to satisfy length.
I do not have writer's block
My writer just hates the clock

Mm, okay.. I guess I just don't have the right vocabulary? I don't know if I'm suppose to reveal my age, but I'm between twelve and sixteen, and it's just hard for me to keep up. You all have so many more WORDS you can use and do use when you write. Maybe I should go and sniff a dictionary? O.o

regals -- I agree with this, that some people prefer pretty pictures over what is actually written. But isn't society in general shallow? We are more inclined to like prettier posts because that's what surrounds us in real life. Idk probably me on a rampage //ignoreme
notorious -- that sounds interesting, I would think about joining ^^
side note -- I'm looking for a couple of active one x ones. I don't mind what kind of plot, normally I can go off on a tangent if you say an interesting idea and think of something xD I'm open to ideas, but no werewolves or proper horror I'm not really good at that. Drop me a pm c:
