@ege
I am sad to see another CS species go, but hopefully there will at least be adopts on da! I know I personally won't be able to buy Vaikis, but I still will look out for the free adopts! I still wish to get at least two or three more too and at least one more fur/fin edit in the future. I love these little guys, and I think the current community, though it is small and not super active, is very nice. I do hope they will get more attention on dA, and It'll be cool to bring in new community members there! :)
I think what LadyChinaAru said about a coowner could potentially be a good idea. They could be in charge of the CS portion, and you could occasionally check in or ask active memebers who are on cs and da their opinions. And then you could manage the dA part while they run the CS part? Viscets are a CS species but have adopts on da; you could flip that and have a species run on da but also have adopts posted by artists on CS.

@Ege
I personal think that'll be a great opportunity for Vaiki's to move to devaientart, more artist's could get involed, they'll be introduce to a new group of people. I love this species and I'd hate to see them be closed forever, and I love my four vaiki's to death ;v;
I'm more active on devientart than here on CS, and if anyone is looking for traditional art for their vaiki's I'm always open for commissions. and as soon as I find my tablet pen I'll been able to do digital art as well ;v;

I know that a lot of people don't have DA and that's part of the reason I'm hesitant to move, but you're all still free to use your vaikis on CS whether or not they move! There just won't be any more adopts/breedings being made here on CS.
I appreciate the suggestions but unfortunately I'm not interested in having a co-owner run the CS side of vaikis, it's sort of the same to me as changing owners entirely, and it would be hard to organize them on two separate sites at once even if I was okay with it. I'm just not comfortable sharing ownership of the species, frankly.

@ ege - personally, I am rather supportive of the move. I'd have to agree, vaikis aren't doing so great here on cs anymore even with the events and all the artists; moving over to dA brings in new members, and while this will always be the original community by moving it to dA I think it has the potential to make the vaiki community even better than it was before.
plus, by moving it to dA-even if vaikis aren't about the profit-the fact artists can get compensated for their designs and work makes it possible for more artists to bring their talent to the species I feel too.
especially with oekaki going downhill I feel moving it to dA now is better, especially since everyone is starting to lose their pen pressure and chickenpaint is having issues (deep sighs @ the fact mine randomly erases in straight lines when I don't even have the eraser tool on)
personally reading over the other opinions, I think having a co-owner isn't a good idea. having two separate sites going on at once not only causes confusion but not all rules on dA can be the same on CS, and overall it will be harder to moderate. you'll have two completely separate communities, and the vaikis on dA would be more likely to flop because if someone really wanted a vaiki, they could just come on cs and get one (which would kill the points I've made above). it would seclude people, and, overall because you're not active on cs nothing stops a co-owner from making decisions you wouldn't want. you know your species better than anyone else, and no co-owner will ever know them as good as you do. it seems the only reason for people not wanting vaikis to go to dA is because they can't go there themselves, but the pros weigh over the cons of just a few people not being able to follow.
plus, as cs is still a kids site, given how long vaikis have been around it's possible members are a lot older and have grown out of cs too; I know I myself have, I'm only here for the species I run and nothing else.
whoops sorry my internet is lagging :") but yeah, tldr I support the move even if a few people can't move over. the community isn't active here anyway, they're not having their vaikis taken, so there's little difference if some people can't come or not.

@ege (and everyone else too)
I have to admit, I like the idea of them moving to DA just to keep it active, but I frequently find that species still die out when they move to DA. It's usually just... much slower. That being said it can still be possible to pick up activity on DA.
I know that it also seems to be mainly you (ege) working on vaikis too, so a change in environment could help collaboration with others (and new users).
((And if vaikis were to fully move to DA, I'd be willing to help out any CS-only user that wants to contribute on DA.))
I'm not really active here anymore. Please don't ask for my pets or OCs!

Honestly I'd rather see vaiki closed than move to DA. As someone who has had bad experiences with that site more than once, I no longer particite in much of anything there. I also think it would ruin vaiki. Maybe I'm alone in this and I'm not trying to offend anyone in any way by this statement, but I've found species that move to DA, despite the best intentions, tend to end up becoming something else and you hardly recognize them anymore. Many of the best qualities get sucked out of them.
I've loved vaiki for a long time and understand where you are coming from, but I personally would rather see them go out how I remember them. Not changed beyond recognition on DA. Again though these are simply my personal opinions and it's fine if people disagree with me. And I hope whatever you choose makes you happy ege. I really do.
Thank you for running this amazing species for so long and making a community I've been proud to be a part of. <3

I know I voiced my support of the move in our chat over Skype, but I'm just gonna second it here :0c Let's be real, Vaikis have already sort of died off on CS, even with the events and adopts being put out. The move to DA would be good for both the community and staff, bringing in new faces to both, allowing staff to be compensated for their work, and making for more flexibility in terms of what the community can do, like with a proper Skype fanclub and whatnot.
Not wanting a co-owner is completely understandable, especially when you'd both be handling two separate sects of the species. A potential falling out between two users can make it hard to want to keep your characters (I know I gave away my old JBDs and disowned some of my other old characters due to bad memories of their involvement with my ex), so trying to manage that with a whole species is a bad idea, and even disagreements over how the species is run can be a pain to take care of - Doubly so if they're managing basically separate halves of the species.
I know some users may be unable to join up over on DA for one reason or another, and you might be able to keep the fanclub here unlocked so people who still own Vaikis and are on CS can chat about them (maybe have someone you know who's still on CS keep an eye on it as a mod of sorts?), but beyond that, I'd say a move to DA is a good thing.

I'd be perfectly happy with the idea of them moving to da, so I'd say go for it! Vaikis have been some of my favorite characters to develop and I think it'll be nice for them to continue. Also yes, I think artists should be allowed to get some profit of their work, sadly I cannot guarantee if I can afford buying any, but others surely shall, and if there's still some free ones and events I'll definitely be game, as will others who cannot afford it!
I do feel you should offer some small thing for people who are still stuck on cs though, like uncommon opportunities to adopt vaikis here or a temporary amount of breedings so they can still breed their vaikis? Also, a question on that! If we know a user not on da who wants a vaiki on da, in future, or a breeding, could da users who are friends with them submit tryout/forms for them? c: That might be a nice alternative.

@Lady I like your idea about a friend being able to submit on DA for us. That, I think, would help a lot for users like myself who cannot/will not use the website for one reason or another.
I also like the idea of possibly leaving the CS fanclub open so that people on CS still have someplace to go and chat about their vaiki. DA doesn't have a great chatting system for people who are in interested in something more than just 1 x 1 conversations or have social anxiety. Leaving the fanclub open might be a good alternative to that.
