i personally think that if you're interested in the tokyo ghoul fandom, read the manga.
i watched the first season and found out later on there was a manga, but i never read it.
for me, i didn't understand the hype about tokyo ghoul all that much
but hearing about how the anime practically slashes out really important parts of the story and character development makes me understand that if i read the manga i'd probably like it a whole lot more, and understand why characters you might not like in the anime are liked so much in the manga.
so my advice is to read the manga and then once you're finished/caught up then check out the anime.
thats just me, though!

oh gosh, your lie in april is a really great anime.
i loved the plot very much, not to mention the first opening is one of my favorites.
it's totally one of those animes that rips out your heart though.
definitely a worth-while watch c:
