I changed what I'm being for Halloween: I'm now being Blair, from Soul Eater~
But the costumes are super-expensive for us{We can't make one, I have no clue how to sew, neither does my mom, and it's kinda too late to sew a costume}, so now she's saying 'we have to make do with a witch's costume, I'm not paying that much money for something you're only wearing once', and I haven't told her I want to cosplay yet.. and I really want to cosplay, so if I get a Blair costume, I can cosplay as her! Aaaand, I'm scared to tell my mom

I'M TRYING TO DRESS UP AS MEULIN LEIJON FROM HOMESTUCK FOR HALLOWEEN BUT WITH A DIFFERENT OUTFIT AND WE'RE HAVING TROUBLE GETTING A LONG SLEEVED PINK SWEATER WITH A WHITE AND BLUE UNICORN ON IT.
WE ALSO MIGHT NEED A TEMPLATE FOR THE SATANIC CROSS.
AND SOME BLUE KNEE SOCKS WITH A HEART PATTERN AND GARTER BELTS. WHICH IS KIND OF IRONIC BECAUSE MY SISTER WAS TALKING ABOUT COSPLAYING SOMEONE FROM PANTY AND STOCKING WITH GARTERBELT DURING THE CONVO WE HAD ABOUT MY COSTUME.
ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS OTHER THAN ONLINE SHOPPING THAT WOULD BE KIND OF CHEAP-ER??

Where do you cosplay? (i.e. at home? at conventions?) I usually cosplay only at Cons and on Halloween, but me and my friend were talking about cosplaying for the last day of school. So I might start doing that as a little tradition.
Do you buy your costumes, or make them yourself? Usually buy the main outfit and make the accessories myself. I count Wigs as main costume, not accessory
What was your first costume? My first cosplay was A Dalek from Doctor Who.
What is your favorite costume that you've done? my favorite would be the year I dressed up as Mako from Kill la Kill
What is your favorite costume that you've seen someone else do? Thats a huge long list when counting the cons I've been too. My favorite would probably be someone I saw cosplaying as the girl in my signature (Kyouko Kirigiri). It was spot on accurate.

Where do you cosplay? at local cons (there is one that I usually go to a year), at home somtimes, to meetups (like a superhero themed trip to the zoo that I was at on saturday)
Do you buy your costumes, or make them yourself? It depends on the costume. For more casual cosplays, I will buy the pieces I need. but full blown costumes, like Kaylee's ball dress and elsa's snow queen dress are all made basically from scratch, right down to the pattern. the only things I end up having to buy really are wigs, or any missing pieces for more casual cosplays
What was your first costume? Fluttershy from MLP:FiM
What is your favorite costume that you've done? Kaylee's ball Dress from Firefly (wanting to make that dress was the reason I got into cosplay in the first place), or elsa's snow queen dress from frozen
What is your favorite costume that you've seen someone else do? this one guy I vaugely know has done an amazing loki costume, he even has instructions as to how he did it... they can be found here.

I'm currently planning costumes for two cosplay meet ups in december
a pokemon themed trip to the zoo
and a time traveller themed trip to the museum, as well as costumes for next year's cons. as I'm going to be going to two cons next year rather than one.

My list of cosplay costumes I have done is as follows, (though it's nowhere near as long as the list of cosplays I want to do)

Fluttershy (mlp) - I attended two brony meetups that year and a con, also a birthday party and school several times in this cosplay.

fem Danny Phantom -Danny phantom. (not Dani phantom as I don't really like her outfit.)

and I did a newly transformed illyriacosplay for halloween once, but I've forgotton what year I did that. and that was more makeup work than costume work

The costume I have gotten the most wear out of so far, is my Kaylee ball dress, which I have worn to my school ball, two cons and a cosplay ball. And it's still just hanging in my wardrobe.

Mabel was done with stuff from my closet, I just cut out the felt pig and sewed that to a red sweater. the purple skirt was actually a shortish purple dress I was given by my cousin the year before. the blue headband - not shown in the ref I linked earlier. was bought from a dollar store, and the flats and the socks I already had.
Jack frost , longish white wig, blue hoodie (store bought and spent two days painting the frost designs onto it) brown skirt (thrift store) staff (found at beach)
Danny : black top, gloves, back skirt, boots and I reused my jack frost wig. the only things I had to sew was the logo, and the 'belt' which ended up becoming a stripe on the skirt) and the neck piece.
Gabriel: Red top, jeans, trainers, and greenish jacket. a hello my name is loki sticker was made using the home printer.
River: Blue dress, black jacket (optional) thing and black boots. (one of the easiest cosplays ever)
Fluttershy: yellow dress, the butterflies for the cutie mark were made with a cleverly fold piece of ribbon, tacked on with a tacking stitch and pinned with safety pins to the dress, a white blouse under the pale yellow dress and a white skirt, to make it that little bit more poofy, (I had all these already) a long pink wig and the wings and the hair colour spray I used to colour them were the only things I bought for that cosplay

if you can't get a hold of a metal comb for your synthetic wigs.
Use a fork.
I'm currently using this to get all the tangles out of my severly tangled fluttershy wig. and it's working.

I'm currently planning an eevee cosplay for a pokemon themed zoo meet up
a steampunkish cosplay for a time traveller cosplay meet up
I might plan a MLP cosplay meet up at some point too...
and a giffany cosplay for I don't know when.
Next year two costumes that are definately on the cards for me, is Rapunzel from Tangled. and gala fluttershy from MLP.

gala fluttershy is gonna be for a cosplay ball sometime probably early next year, and rapunzel is for day one of a three day con.

(Btw sorry for being absent lately - I had two big cons [DragonCon and Anime Weekend Atlanta] back to back so I was super busy working on costumes but now that they're over and there's a while until my next, smaller con then I should be a little more active!)

I don't know.
There are usually a few standard cosplays that appear at every con i've cosplayed to pretty much. Deadpool, supernaturals, Homestucks and Pikachu.
and a couple of big costumes that seem to change every year, this year it was frozen and attack on titan that were big, slade wilson/deathstroke was also bigish (which might have been due to the fact that the actor who played him was one of the guests this year)
next year I think a couple of my friends are plotting judge dread and karmen rider things. so WHO knows.

other than that there is usually a pretty good mix. different anime characters, different live action characters.

I have no complaints about cosplays i want to see less off.

sometimes cosplays are cuter if there are only like one or two people who do them
there was an adorable ned and chuck from pushing daisies cosplays at the last con I went to which was waaaaaay back at the end of may.
