I have a question; in relation to that thing I mentioned that was upsetting me;

Someone asked me to draw their character about a year ago. They wanted me to draw their fursona in a 'sexy' pose. Note that-the person was always whining at me for art; very rude; and very unfairly wanting to trade. I was always as polite as possible; and agreed DESPITE this. They never paid for their commissions; and any art trade they even DID was on a base; instead of drawn themselves.
I told them no; that I was NOT comfortable drawing something like that; and that I would have to decline their commission.
Today they messaged me asking me where their commission was quite rudely; to quote;
"Can i ever have some art made?It was just my b-day and i have been waiting for a comission for a loooooong time...."

How do you approach someone if asking about a commission you've been waiting for for a long time? At what point does it get too long? Do you ever get upset with them; if they don't have a reasonable excuse; or do you just politely ask for a refund?

Well, I personally never pay for a commission before the art is finished (if they want me to send a trade first to prove I have the pets, that's fine as long as they don't accept it until the art is done). So I have never been in the position of having to ask for a refund. If someone is taking way too long (And I mean, 6 months or more), I just remind them politely by pm, and if they don't respond or make unreasonable excuses, I just say, "I'm sorry for any inconvenience, but I need to cancel my commission.", then I cancel the trade if I sent one. I try to remain diplomatic because getting upset or sending rude/impatient messages just makes things worse.

As for your situation, that's no fun :c I'm sorry that happened to you. If I were you, I would remind them one more time that you declined the commission because you did not feel comfortable, so you will not be drawing for them. If they owe you pets from previous commissions, remind them of that too. If it's been several months and they still owe you pets, try talking to a mod about it or posting on the "help" board. I try to remain calm about the whole thing, I mean I know that peeps have lives and can forget sometimes - I mean, I forget art sometimes and appreciate the reminder. But if something is taking a month or longer for me it gets annoying - I mean, I like seeing updates and some kind of sign that the commission is being worked on.
I try not to requests things that artists aren't comfortable with and let artists choose the pose because I don't want to suggest a pose that they may not be comfortable with ^^;
