Some nights, Sei just couldn't stay on all four feet, the soft hay of his stall beckoned after a day of the same tests and experiments. When the lights went out and the sounds of the humans and their machines ceased, Sei collapsed into the bed of hay below him. A dull throbbing pain in his head always started up about this time, when the chemicals and sedatives wore off, and that's when everything else started to ache. The only comforts in this stall was the fresh water, the hay... and his neighbor.

"...Virus..."

A head rose from the shadows of the stall beside his, the sound of the straw there shifting as a pair of glowing green eyes pieced the darkness. Even in the blackened stable, the stallion's spotted face and fur were easy to make out. Virus, one of the few that didn't see Sei as something to be studied and watched, Sei even considered him a friend.

"Are you feeling alright?"

Sei shook his head in the usual manner, closing his eyes as he sighed and shifted to lay on his side, taking the weight off his sore joints. It felt like his entire body was throbbing with his head...

"Endure it just a little bit longer... It'll all be over soon."

Virus' words, though short and to the point, always offered some comfort...
Maybe it would all end soon...

Sei and Virus were one test subjects in a secret facility close to the mountains. They were both bred into the laboratory's stock, their parents had been test subjects as well and more than likely died sometime before the facility was shut down.
Most of the animals that had been left behind were taken by rescue organizations and others like Virus and Sei escaped into the mountains and are currently living wild.
