Just a short snippet, considering I don't like to share large amounts of my writing;

.....A shrill, blood-curdling howl shattered the air like a gossamer eggshell collapsing under force. The velvety night was pierced by the tawny colored moon, casting an eerie glow on the mountainous earth. An old gray wolf lingered in the trees, his eyes the tone of hot embers on a frigid night. Padding up a minute, dwindling trail, the old brute briskly continued onwards towards the highest vantage point in his sight. Arriving at a massive boulder, the brute observed the lands below. Lush, fertile grass lingered down through the valley, weaving into the woodland. Towering oaks were ensconced contently in the loam, softly brushed by a gentle breeze far below.
.....The brute ran a slick, flushed tongue over his wiry gray muzzle, and threw his maw to the sky, and once more a blaring howl broke the calm aura. The wolf's soft, white ears pricked forward as he continued to peer down the valley. There came no answer to his call. It was true, everything that he had once possessed was undeniably gone.

Gangsters, thugs, criminal and drug lords from all over the world are meeting in shiny little New York, New York.
They'll be staying in the exclusive Grand Royal, a hotel unsurpassed in beauty, exclusivity, taste and price.
Their host for the evening was to be Don John Romano of the American Mafia, but due to his untimely and unfortunate suicide, the reins have been passed over to his successor, Mickey Greco.
An invitation to the Meeting of the Dons is a much sought after thing, for an up-and-comer, it's a big boost for their reputation.
For an old Boss it's a reminder that he's still got it.
The Dons are here to discuss one thing and one thing only, Crime.
Whether they want to set up some new "trade routes" or just feel out the competition, or even remove some of it, this is where it's happening.

Rush took a deep, calming breath; it wasn't like she was nervous or anything. She had gotten past that rock star phase months ago, and was as comfortable on the stage now as she would be at home, singing in front of her dog or something. The breathing was just a habit, from when she had gotten nervous. She made quick eye contact with Gwen, giving the younger girl a slight nod, then turned her head slightly to meet eyes with Asche and the other band members as well. Gripping her mic a little tighter, she darted it up towards her mouth, breathing out a quick "2, 3, 4" before twirling around and launching into the songs lyrics, accompanied by Asche's drums and Gwen's wicked guitar skills. The crowd screamed and danced in front of the stage as she belted out the words, becoming lost and more animated with the music, strutting across the stage and leaning in to sing into Gwen's mic together with the short, white-blonde girl. She glanced slightly over to the side, seeing the smirk on Vlad's face; she smirked back playfully before turning her full attention back to her crowd. They were what was important right now.
Man, she loved her life.
