I don't mind getting tricks at all, but something that's been recently bugging me is when people send tricks that control the actions of my pet's behavior. (For example, "Bob opens the door and jumps out at you! You scream and run in the opposite direction.")

Is this just me? Or does it bother others too?

Mine kinda does that, in a way.
Would this be something that bothered you?



There is no answer but you hear faint laughter. You look around the door to find a small object and a note. The note reads: I regret to inform you that you have been tricked! But since I am not mean, you may have this item! Please pass it on to other trick-or-treaters!

Not as much, it's more when they have my character walk somewhere or something like that.

Is this good?

A lady opened the door, paints on the floor "Oh hey!" She yells over the music as she put the paint brush down and grabs the basket, you see assorted candies and home-made goodies. The basket had paint all over it and fog came out. You wonder if she put some weird stuff in the home- cooked goodies, but decided to take some as well.

It doesn't really bother me. I've had people do in the tricks that they send, and I've also had them do it in the stories that they send me with their treats. Most people who send a message with their trick do it so that it's a little more fun than just getting a message saying "trick". I appreciate that, since a one word PM is really all that's required. If people take control of my character's actions in the process, it really doesn't bother me. Of course, I may be biased, since my "trick" message is actually rather similar to the one that you described. haha. For the "treat" stories I don't really mind either. I think it's just nice of them to send me a treat, and the story is a fun additional touch. It's not like I've had anyone make my trick-or-treater do anything strange, outrageous, or completely out of character. It's usually just them responding to whatever the other person's pet says/does.

Wilma sat at her kitchen table, picking through the plate of treats she'd prepared for this year's trick-or-treaters. She began to daydream about the vibrant costumes, spooky tricks, and fun traditions of her favorite holiday.

Suddenly, a noise interrupted her thoughts. What's that, a trick-or-treater?

She made her way to the door and opened it to a pet with such a lovely costume.

"Here you are, my dear!" she said as she handed over a treat.

Aditi sat beside the door, his heart speeding up as he heard a trick-or-treater approaching. Scaring these pets is the best time of the year, he thought.

As the trick-or-treater reached the door, he jerked it open and jumped out at the pet. "Boo! You've been tricked!" he shouted as he began to laugh. "Seriously though, happy Halloween!"

i dont think ive turned my lights off since saturday night... i ended up just making my "house" a once a day thing because keeping track of who visited is a pain x)

You've seen my trick story. It's recycled from last year, since I actually got really good responses from it.

This is my treat story; (It comes in two parts, and kinda follows the "control" thing, but only slightly.)
And I put the image in both, in case they decided not to visit again.

The door creaks open and a friendly fellow in a trenchcoat stands there, a bowl in his paws.
"Fantastic, another trick-or treater!" He remarks. You see him also holding a silver object that glows blue at the end and wonder if it's part of his costume, however he doesn't give you much time to ponder it.
"Here you go, have a treat! Feel free to come back once more!" He dips some treats in your bag and gets ready for the next trick-or-treater Perhaps you'd come back to investigate some more..

-Second Visit-

The door creaks open once more and the fellow in the trenchcoat stands there again, a bowl in his paws.
"So you've returned!" He chuckles. You respond, saying you wanted to know what the silver and blue object was.. Aaand that you wanted more treats. He laughs, shaking his head.
"I'm the Doctor, and this is my Sonic Screwdriver! Though I doubt that means much to you guys! Here, have some more treats!" He dips some more candy into your bag, feeling a little satisfied. You still wonder what he meant, but you figure it's best not to return.

''fine!'' he grumbled and walked off ''sorry about that'' he said, holding a large bowl of jumbo-sized treats he took a handful and put them in the bag "Enjoy your Treats"
