I read I think three of the Seekers series and I enjoyed it, but my library didn't have any more so I just stopped reading them. I don't think I'll ever finish the series, but they were good.

I just ordered the second book in The Raven Cycle series. I have been looking for it everywhere and can only find #1, #3 and #4, so I'm pumped to be getting the second finally!

I used to read her books. I'm the opposite--I loved the Immortals quartet and re-read it several times, but I never finished the Song of the Lioness ones--I think I only read the first two. They were quite good, they just weren't for me.

Never heard of her... Sounds like it may be enjoyable though! I may check her out! :)

YES! It's amazing I'm on protecter of the small book three I strongly recommend!

Welcome friend! I love Hitchhiker's guide and Harry Potter too!

If you like action and sci-fi, I'm currently reading a book which I highly recommend--it's called Scythe by Neal Shusterman. It's less on the action side and more slow/suspenseful, but it's got a really excellent premise--it's about a society where natural death is no longer a concern because society is so advanced, but overpopulation is a problem, so in order to curb overpopulation individuals called Scythes "glean" (kill) a certain amount of people at random.

The first one is my favorite, but the others are pretty good as well. I don't like starting a series and not finishing it, it kills me so I just got the saga. Even if I don't like a book I usually always finish it.

And thanks, he's my favorite character!

I honestly keep forgetting this topic exists! I'm glad someone posted in it and brought it back to life. Here's some questions to hopefully spark a conversation or two?

Code: Select all
What were your favorite books that you read in 2018?

What were your least favorite books that you read in 2018?

What were your favorite books that you read in 2018?

I personally read a lot of books outside of my comfort zone this year, and I ended up enjoying a LOT of them.

I read both The Goldfinch and The Little Friend by Donna Tartt and I enjoyed both of them a lot. She's a new favorite author of mine, and I totally plan on tracking down more of her books to read.

I also really liked The Little Strangers by Sarah Waters. I thought her narrator was an extremely interesting character, and the book kept me on the edge of my seat to the very last page.

I also read Simon Vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda when the movie Love, Simon came out earlier this year, and I found that book to be super heartwarming and fun!

OH! I almost forgot - if you enjoy the horror genre, then I discovered Dan Simmons this year, and I found all of his books to be fantastic.

What were your least favorite books that you read in 2018?

I love the book Empress Orchid by Anchee Min, but I just this year for the first time read its sequel The Last Empress, and I completely HATED IT. I thought all the charm of the first book was missing from the sequel.

I also read The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott because it was a book that kept popping up in Goodreads lists, but I found the book to be so boring and poorly written. The main character was totally flat and unlikable. Ughhhhh I cannot say enough about how bad I found this book to be.

hey all! i hope you're all doing well.
i was wondering if reading books was helping you cope with quarantining (which i hope you are doing!). it's been two weeks already since quarantine in my country started, and still going until the end of Easter. i can't see the end of it.
so yeah, what are you reading right now? c:
