I can see it both ways, but I lean towards trying to get it under control as best as we can. My previous post:
RiverFawn wrote:(Sorry, I'd give a more thourough explaination, but I broke my wrist and it's really hard for me to type)

1) Yes, I've overpaid for pets and have traded pets for overpay. I'm not against minor overpay, but going over-the-top makes demand a lot worse, not just one-more-uncommon or one-more-tier worse.
2) Acctually, if I was lucky enough to have an August lion, I would not trade it for so much overpay because then I would be making it a lot harder to get another or for others to trade for it. (You ARE right about the cookies though )

Thanks so much for expressing your opinion!

Thank you. :) And I can as well, but I also think that people, should have their own opinion what demand is. Though, rarity needs just as much attention. ;)

I find it very rude to the people that took the time to make the list to help people discover fair trades, when it is ignored completely

I have no problem paying fairly, or even overpaying with a person who respects the list

Calm down, this thread is for discussing from both sides. Is it not?

I know not everyone will, that's why I say take the best offer you can get. If you get offered a red x for a BMD, and another trade including a skeleton pps, take the one you like the best. Obviously, you can get more because they offered it.

The list is NOT ignored. And because you think it's rude that people "disrespect" the list in your opinion, isn't the same in others. Demand is something people work harder for. If people didn't like a specific pet more than another, the game wouldn't be as much of a challenge, and therefore not as fun. I agree though double demand is unfair.

When you say you don't mind trading fairly or overpaying with someone who respects the list, you must know that just because you value a pet a certain way, doesn't mean they will. The list is a guide. Not a bible.

actually, i am agreeing with you, i guess what i mean is that just because say a person pays an advent list for shima long, does not place it on the advent list, a great offer would be to get a better offer, but most people will pay 3 '09 dog for it at most,

my big issue is with the person who said a grinner was a fair trade for a Shima longtail

as for like's and dislike's that is every day life, it is how we make friends and define who we are

I was just trying to clearify my opinion, i ment no offence, i do understand both sides of this debate, if you can get a great offer take it, it could get you your dream, but when you try to scam a person ie the grinner and the shima, that crosses the line for me

Alright, thanks, I am sorry if I sounded mean or rude. :)

When someone says they know what something is worth and says its worth something that's complete overpay, is moronic, first of all, and it is taking advantage of people. I agree that this is ridiculous. Let the person offering determine what it's worth demand wise, but rarity wise, they need to match it exactly.

That's exactly right, round of applause!

Debates get heated, it's alright :3

what i think about this though is that both sides of the trade should come to an agreement (if possible), that's why there is an edit button

both people offering need to attept to send a fair trade, and the recever needs to respect them to work things out

For example

Trade messages
I believe this is fair

this is unfair to me, one rare should be added

so how is this?

rather then

I believe this is fair

NO!!!!!!!!!!

IT IS WORTH SO MUCH MORE
*cancel*

no one learns from situatons like the second one

when in doubt use the FTT, that's my motto at least

I agree that demand can get a little over-the-top, but I don't think its wrong to accept massive overpay either X3 My views are normally very passive, but my first 2 years on CS I didn't use the forums and only traded, and all of my trading was completely demand-wise. I take advantage of events and rarer pets because I know I can get overpay for them, and I take it. And at the same time if someone offered me a non-tag for an august PPS I'd take a step back and say 'wait a second, I can't accept this' Yes, at a certain point it becomes too much. So while yes most of my trading is completely demand-wise trying to get as much out of my pets as they can, I'm also just now judging my own giveaway where I'm handing out 5 BAs that I worked my butt of for and paid sorberts for. I expect to get demand-value from my pets and I expect to pay demand-value. I know my views are...unique, but they have pulled me out of situations where most people would fall on thier face and give up. I know what it feels like to pay obnoxious overpay, I know what it feels like to get obnoxious overpay, I know how horrible it is to have a pet with no demand and I've trading for pets with no demand, I've been on both sides of the fence, not to mention on top of it. Until you know what that feels like you can't really understand demand.

Demand isn't a 'thing' its more like an 'it'. It has its moods, it throws fits, it gets hyper and it'll throw you out a window if you make it angry, but once you can understand it, you can tame it. It took me years to understand how demand truly works, but now it works for me, and I'm able to do so much because of it.

Yeah obnoxious demand is stupid, but at the same time its part of CS and it aint going anywhere, I say, either learn how it works, because if you can't learn to live with it your gonna be miserable here. Demand might look like this big scary monster crushing all your dreams. And if thats what you believe that all your going to see. Sometimes you gotta take a step back and look at it from an unbiased point of view.

Well, at least this is shorter than my last post XP

I can understand where you are coming from, I actually thought that very *very* recently, but then I realized how difficult (what I and so many others were doing is what I feel causes this) it was for newer users or slightly more inactive users.

Thanks for your approval on the poll, BTW.
