^ What exactly is Welcome to Night Vale, anyway? I've seen the eye logo thing around, but I don't actually know what it is.

Animorphs turns 20 this June. Wow.

It's a podcast! Like you know those news shows that broadcast on the radio? It's like that but it's about a fake supernatural town where a lot of strange things happen, but no one really questions it and it's presented as normal. I've listened to maybe 20 episodes? It's very good, you can probably find it on youtube. (Actually, the pilot's right here on youtube if you wanna give it a listen. It's not for everyone, but I quite like it!)

Okay.

Have my attempts (across this website) to recruit Last Wild fans worked? I enjoy things more when I can discuss them with people. If you've never read The Last Wild, how about Guardians of Ga'Hoole or Animorphs?

I have a vague idea for a short Last Wild fanfic that I might write once I've finished The Wild Beyond where Kester thanks all of the major characters.

EDIT: I was looking on Goodreads, and it turns out that an English paperback of The Dark Wild was released precisely two weeks ago, almost two years after it was released here. Unfortunately, it doesn't say what country this edition is from, but after doing a bit of looking around I'm assuming that it's from America.
EDIT2: ...Or not. Turns out that the trilogy was published by Viking Books for Young Readers in America, in 2015. So... Australia?

EDIT3: Anyhow, what are some of the worst book covers you've ever seen? I'd have to say the neon Hunger Games covers. The colours clash too much and the grunge/graffiti style does not fit that series. At all. There's also these foil covers with similarly questionable colours, but you can't exactly show foil shinyness on a screen.
EDIT4: There's also the original Harry Potter and the Deathy Hallows cover. To be honest, it's so over-detailed that it just looks really weird.

About book covers- honestly, (this feels terrible and i apologize) i don't really like the British version of the Harry Potter series. They're just... weird to me. I don't know if it's just because I'm used to the American version or what but I don't really like them. His face on the first book just looks a little... strange, and not how I imagine him to look.
Another cover I really don't like is the newer Song of the Lioness quartet covers. They just look very cheesy and don't really represent the story... at all. It makes the story seem like some broody teen romance. Like ugh those covers make me so mad the original ones were so nice why did they have to ruin them T.T

Apparently, Harry was originally facing towards the train, but the person who drew it had to change it in a day. ALSO IT SAYS "SS" IN THAT URL NERD RAGE INCOMING-
You should see the September 2014 UK covers though, they're gorgeous. Even though First News keeps misidentifying that barn owl illustration as Hedwig... DX

I just found out that The Northern Lights is called The Golden Compass in America. I always wondered why the movie had a different name to the book, even though I've never read or watched it.

Yess, the 2014 covers are gorgeous!!! I love the colors! The only thing is, I think Harry looks kinda of young in the later book covers- or maybe I just don't know what teenagers look like, which is a valid possibility lol

Is it just me, or does the Order of the Phoenix cover in the picture you linked to look redder than it should?
There's also these really weird German and Italian covers.

I recently read a review on Goodreads for Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Journey (but it covered the entire series), which stated that, among other things, the series has racist undertones, and... the person does have a point. Even before I read that review, the constant (in-universe racist) toilet humor in those books keeps bothering me... GOGH's tone is too serious for it to work.

On a more positive note...

I had the same thought. He looks 12 years old all the way through which bugs me, other than that I love them. My favourites I think will always be the original UK ones.. ^u^

What about the Japanese Guardans of Ga'Hoole covers? They look like anime, or even Star Wars, posters. I guess I really like disproportioned cast ensembles.
I like it when books have covers showing the characters in full because it helps me form a mental image of what everything should look like. I guess that's why I love those HP covers so much. Of course, they don't have to be super-detailed; the rounded-shapes cover of One Wish by Michelle Harrison (please read it) was enough for me. On the other hand, since all of the illustrations in The Last Wild are silhouettes, I can't envision what everything looks like very well, not to mention that appearances aren't described very often in that series, causing me to envision Kester Jaynes as looking like Barney Willow from To Be a Cat.
Speaking of which...

I'm up to part 4 (of 6), about halfway through, The Wild Beyond, and it's actually getting really good! I genuinely laughed at some of the lines, and the dolphins express so much personality. The former in particular is important because the only other book series I can remember laughing at are Animorphs and Harry Potter, both of which I can get "glued to", but that's not the case here.
In other words, please read The Last Wild trilogy if it seems interesting to you. I don't want to feel alone in liking it.
