I only require about 5 on a list before I breed. I only adopt out in same sex pairs, so thats 10 babies. Every breeder is different, theres no right or wrong answer. (some breeders dont even have/use a wait list)
I dont want someone to wait months and months (Most people give up after a few months before they go to the petstore, etc)
My average litter size is 8-12 (so far)
Ive had some people on my waiting list for 6+ months (they are waiting for hairless dumbos)

Exactly. Ocelot and Naomi are a one-time breeding. Ocelot may be bred again, but Naomi most likely won't. The people on my waiting list want babies from Them, not my others. =p I'm expecting some REALLY pretty bubs out of them, and hoping BEW shows up. In the last litter Ocelot's uncle had with my friends patched girl (from the same lines) Aph threw a PERFECT bew male. Oh god he's beautiful. He went to my mentor along with a really pretty patched female.

I'm hoping for a varigated (or berk) with a LARGE headspot. >.< large headspots are my weakness and I haven't been able to find one. None the less, whatever the babies end up, I'm excited to see what I'll get and I'll be proud either way. These two rats are my prized rats more or less. My first SCRR (Southern Curls Rex Rattery - my mentors rats) rats and I couldn't be happier with them. ^-^

Ooon a different note, my breeding for Hugo and Beryl draws closer with each day. Once Naomi's bubs are weaned and homed, I'll be breeding them in hopes for mink! Something I REALLY want.. that nice, rich, dark mink. Mmnn it's so beautiful ;-; one of my favorite colors! I'm also expecting really nice markings. They're pretty 'plain' looking themselves (which I adore most of all) but like.. for example. Both of Beryl's parents were varigated, she just so happened to be english-irish. And Hugo is a berkshire, but his father was a BEAUTIFUL variberk with a headspot. ^.^ they may not be my top rats, but I'm beyond excited for them.

After Hugo & Beryl, I'll be breeding my two self siblings Sullivan and Sueann (which I'm going to assume will be hard to rehome their bubs since a lot of people don't want self for like.. pet-only unless it's just.. one? I dunno, in a self x self breeding -the parents of them- a ribbon blaze and headspot was produced, so maybe I'll get lucky and get marked babies), then Kanani my agouti hairless berk to Lulu my fawn berk in hopes for fawn darlings.

All in all, these are my planned litters and I couldn't be happier with my stock.

Hey... I'm going to be on vacation for a week, and my two rats are going to be left alone. I don't know the person watching them well (pet sitting service), although apparently they've watched rats before.

I'm not sure how to do this. Other than the usual (feeding, water, that sort of thing) anything I should remember to do? I was a bit nervous about getting her to take them out of the cage, bt should I? I don't want them to be too lonely, but I also don't know the person taking care of them...
Trade with me or PM me?

Cool, 'cause I might wanna bring mine with me to a friend's house or somethin' like that :)
And also, does anyone here use a "digging box" for their rat's cage?
