So let's see here,

My girl Andromeda, by Rain-strive. Is the real life Andromeda galaxy hidden on Earth because there is a black hole destroying systems.


My boy Orion, designed by alligator feet, is the offspring of an Extra-terrestrial and an Earthling. His parents disappeared and he is now traveling the galaxy to find them.


My boy Perseus, by me, is just like Orion. But he is older, he is from a different generation and is now hidden on a new world watching Orion's journey.


Tanomi, lines by shadow-ink adopts design by me, is a Cathar Mirialan hybrid in the Star Wars Universe.I still don't know what planet I want her to be from but she is obviously not from Earth haha.


And then we have this boy, by clockwork salsolastock, I don't have a name for him and unsure of what he really is or where he is from but he is not of our world.

This week's theme is...


An original character can be anything... from your 'everyday' human to a bipedal warthog from outer space. Creating a character is boundless and limitless; you can make them as original as you'd like. Perhaps one of the most unique challenges presented to authors is deciding where their character lives; designing a world that seems as realistic to the reader as it does to the character that lives in it. Suzanne Collins did it with Panem; though it was once our earth of today, Katniss's world as she knew it was very different from our own. Orson Scott Card did it in his Enderverse series; he created planets like Lusitania and the Path for both his humans and his fictional creatures to inhabit. In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll created an entirely different world for Alice's adventures, complete with dozens of unique creatures, both flora and fauna.

While some characters have no need for any sort of special world or planet of their own, it can be fun to create a character that does merit designing a new world. Imagine a giant wyrm-like creature living out its happy and harmless life on planet earth. That would be...difficult to picture. This week, I want to hear all about your world-building! Do you have any characters that do not live in 'our' world? Do all of your characters live in the same place - a place of your own creation? Are any of your characters from different planets now living on earth? It's a difficult question to address... world-building can take time! But it's a must-know if you wish to have a fully-developed character!

Any discussion, questions concerning, and sharing of characters related to worlds other than our own is highly encouraged this week!

i haven't posted here in a while, but many of my characters actually do live in their own world!

the majority of my characters live in the kingdom of paragonia or surrounding areas in the country of selphier.

selphier is a country whose form of government is a monarchy. they have a royal family that is housed in the paragonian castle. though their kings/queens have advisers and hold meetings to hear out the people of selphier's concerns and wishes, there aren't many checks and balances within the government. it heavily relies on the decisions of the ruler. thankfully they haven't had too much trouble in the past with these things, save for a few leaders who made unpopular decisions. selphier is known for being a relatively peaceful country. they have crime, like other countries, but tend to stay neutral in most wars.

as for terrain and geographical stuff, i haven't gotten around to drawing a map yet. paragonia is located in the northern part of the country, surrounded by thick forestry. past the forest there are plains, stretching to the southern mountain ranges. there are, of course, marshes and forests scattered in patches in between, but none are of much note. there are cities, towns, and hamlets across the region that boast a wide variety of inhabitants.

their culture is vivid and varied. they have many festivals and holidays to celebrate historical achievements or the changing of seasons. selphiers are always up for a good, fun time. a big part of selphierian culture is their stories. they love great legends and mysterious tales. the large library in paragonia houses many ancient texts. it is believed that everyone has a story to share, and it's important to the residents of selphier to record their lives -- in a variety of ways. some compose songs, others writing or poetry. artists paint stills of their past, and then there are those who would rather verbally confide their stories to friends and neighbors to pass them on.

the schooling system allows for any selphier to decide what profession they'd like to follow. though the first few years are uniform for all students, they can then decide which specialty school to attend. there are schools to train artisans, soldiers, scholars, and shopkeeps, as well as a host of other jobs. it's truly kept free-range. most selphier will become apprenticed while in school and serve out that apprenticeship until their adviser decides they're ready to graduate.

pastimes in selphier range from swordplay to sewing. younger children play games like tag and hide-and-seek, swim in the rivers, and pursue the arts. older children help their family with chores and may sell homemade trinkets for extra money. teenagers and adults typically choose hobbies that take more thought and work, like knitting or acting.

the economy of selphier is not without its problems, but for the most part it's sound. the selphier coin is called a 'alket'. they are medium-sized coins, though thick, and bronze in color. they are the only form of currency in selphier. each alket is worth approximately 3 US dollars. resources are pretty cheap in selphier since they are so abundant. a bundle of wood costs 1-2 alkets, a dozen eggs cost 1 alket, ect. the rarer the resource, the more alkets you pay. (for example, true silk is very very rare in selphier due to their low number of silkworms, so, depending on the color, it can cost about 26 alkets a yard)

as for the more unsavory parts of selphier, it does have slum towns. though the residents there aren't the richest, they do their best to make a living. the back alleys are dangerous to walk in and out-of-towners are advised to be extremely cautious in these places, as thieves will do whatever they can to get a few alkets.

the most notable characters of mine who live/have lived in selphier include fable (a wandering adventurer with a hidden past), vincent (a skilled archer who works as a mercenary-for-hire), peregrine (the moody and intelligent current king of selphier), and conrad (peregrine's husband and previously his court jester). though there are many more i won't bother to list them. i don't want this post to get too long!

Oblivion battles with depression over the death of his wife. She had cancer so it was a very long and painful time for him. He's {if you couldn't tell by his design} a parallel to the mystery skulls music video, however I wanted to change the story up a little.

Hmmm Eclair is 100% an android...he has trouble emoting sometimes and isn't good at swimming. He doesn't exactly have many problems with his health, or mind...but his androidness certainly holds him back.

Fawkes and Purgatory were both test subjects. Both have a really hard time breathing, and Fawkes has to have a bunch of tubing and wires for his body to function properly.

Theme Week 3: Out of This World

I could say that about 90% of my characters live in a world not like our modern one today. Since my forte seems to be knights, magic, kings, and all things that fit into that world I've made three kingdoms for my characters to live in. All actually have info already made up on my site but its probably very outdated. My best friends starry-knight and Squirrelspirit have characters in the same world. The world consists of six kingdom countries, a pirate group (starry's) and other areas in between belonging to her as well but it is all in the same world.

Of my 71 main characters, 38 live in one of these three kingdoms and about nine (?) live in a similar kingdom world of their own. Most others are in their own alternate worlds. Less than ten would fit in our own 'real' world.

Mine are all up here. I rarely share it because not many people have interest in this stuff aha

jaquela lives in an a "realm" she controls all spiders, so you have to use a small spell to get into her own world, its small but very dark and creepy.

rhitz he wanders from world to world (he is a minor god) but i would imagine his main resting place as olympus!

maxwell lives in one of the worlds that rhitz frequently goes to- a place kind of like the "shadow realm" as he is a demon!
