I read an abridged version of the book first, and then I read the whole thing. That definitely helps! My ONLY dissapointment in the book is that there's so little of Eponine in it. Still, one of the best books I have ever read. Sigh...

Does anyone have a subject for discussion?
Here's a prompt: lot's of people die in Les Mis (that's what makes it so dramatic), but who had the saddest death?
Or, what characters do you hate? Or, what's the best movie adaption? Any comments?

Hmm saddest death probibly Gavroche in my opinion
Characters that I hate I would say the Thenardiers but they are pretty funny but I guess the're my least favorite.

Gavorche does have a sad death, but I think Enjolras's touches me the most. When that barricade revolved to show him splayed over his flag, I was in tears. Javert's death had me crying as well, because, contrary to my brother's beliefs, I don't think he's a bad guy. He seems like the antagonist in this point of view, but he's only trying do what's right. I know there are a few different views on why he committed suicide, but the way I see it, he killed himself because living would force him to arrest Valjean, because he was literally unable to let him go and live. But if he was dead, then all was solved. Just my two cents C:

I agree that Javert wasn't bad he was just doing what he belived his duty was.
