Nuudot Fantasy Races wrote:Hulder (fem)/Huldra (fem)/Huldrekall (masc) - germanic forest spirits who are generally very pretty but have cow or fox tails. their backs are made of wood and have a hole in them which I presume hides something dark but I can't find what. They're in myths from germany, scandanavia, and western russia.
Kentaur/Centaur/Hippokentaur (masc) / Kentaurides (fem) - actually originally just a nomadic tribe within Greece (who got really drunk and therefore violent, and were perceived as half-animals because they were so barbaric), so the matching would be sort of nice?
Satyr - mountain goats. Don't think I need to explain further than that as to why that would make sense...
Selkie - imo this would be really cool to be like a subrace of other races, sort of like lycanthropy, so that it's a recessive gene that very occasionally shows up the first time a child is exposed to seal skins. But yeah, they're germanic/gaelic myth based on inuit and northern russian people who travelled over to other places in sealskin canoes, so they match the nomadism theme too.
Nix (plural)/Neck (sing)/Nixie - germanic again. they're sort of like mermaids except that they can shapeshift between fish, mermaid/man and human. Clear superiority to mermaids for land-based travellers... but could be quite nice given that the Nuudot are meant to go around lakes and stuff, and could be neat as a source of interactions with other villages. They'd be human formed like 99% of the time.
