A Contest Entry... OH, and with my new art sig. xD

Postby LostGosling » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:34 pm

Well, this changed shape many times as I worked on it,
and now I'm finally happy with it. xDDD <333

    An amber eye,
    shimmering so bright.
Or was it a Monarch's wing,
    flutttering just right?

For some reason, I guess with the white, dark, orange color combo,
she reminds me a lot of a Monarch butterfly. c: I thought the flowers in the background gave it a nice touch as well,
and help to tye it all together quite nicely. :3 <3

And did you notice the little sig in the bottom left hand corner? OuO
That's my new art sig. xP I find it quite adorable, and it goes along with my username,
so it'll be good and recognizable I hope. 8P

The butterflies are gorgeous! Great work! The dog(?)'s mouth is a bit weird, I'd recommend working on that, but the tail is magnificent!

Cute sig. ;)

Naww, thank's guys! 8D
...
LOL, and it's a dragon. xDDD
My entire family says they look like dogs too, and I'm like: "Nuuuh they don't!!!" xP
So yeah, they have a furry upper lip, so that's what makes it look that way. :B

Here's a link to the adopt for anybody interested,
though forms closed for this one a few days ago. ;D ~ Jelly Bean Dragons

Hehe, thanks again for the comments everyone! <333

Inky@ I think what I use is called Cell Shading, and you'll need to be using layers for it to work. :P
First, create a copy of the color layer of your character, though make sure the new version is directly above the original. Next, dial down the opacity to 50% on the copy, and then click the Lock Alpha box. Color it in a solid, dark color. I use black. Make sure you turned off the Lock Alpha again before you switch to the weak eraser. Finally, take the eraser, set it to a size that will fit the area you're working with, and erase away the spots that light will hit, creating shadowed areas wherever you don't erase. ;D Hope I helped. xD

Soph@ OuO <333 Gnaa, I seen the orange ear spots on the ref, but the way her ears are swiveled in it, I just don't see them being visible in this picture. o3o With them perked like they are, the spots would be slightly positioned inbetween the ears, and down lower, toward's their base. It just doesn't look right when I try to add them. xD I may try it again though, before the comp ends. :3
