flavia revamp

Postby sicknasty » Tue Feb 13, 2018 6:11 am

my golden gf,,
permission to revamp
name: flavia
ancient roman name meaning golden-haired
gender: female
age: approx 34
occupation: merchant
personality:
smooth-talking, persuasive, charming
silver-tongued? darling, i prefer gold

she has always had a way with words, twisting and manipulating them to get her way, to make others trust her. a saleswoman from kithood, her eye for a desirable purchase and her profit-oriented mind led her to a growing business - starting off selling pretty pebbles to her playmates, and expanding her transactions until she was completing high-calibre deals for items she had 'sourced' through her vast network of underground contacts.
though she may be honey-sweet with her customers, flavia is a ruthless businesswoman, and does not take kindly to being patronised or mocked, and has many ways of getting even with those who slight her. despite her elaborate, pampered appearance, she is not afraid to get her hands dirty - as long as she has an alibi, of course. not that she has anything to be guilty about, but for flavia it's always... safer to stay out of trouble with the law.

shop:
though she may not be nobility, in flavia's mind she is a queen, and her shop is her kingdom. two tiny squared-off rooms in a dingy back alley, yet they hold treasures beyond inagining. or so say the timid kits who dare each other to go in.
though the plaster is damp and cracked and the window frames are rotting, these are cleverly hidden by flavia's eye for the luxurious. she has draped the walls with delicate silks and exquisite tapestries, and of her stock, only a few pieces are ever on display - those who come to flavia's shop know what they are looking for. the true focus of the first room is her throne - an ornate golden chair on which she sits to conduct her business. from this seat, she is the ruler of her own glittering kingdom - a spider in the center of a golden web.
the second room is where the real valuables are kept. a cluttered mess of dusty metal safes and unsteady shelving, it contains flavia's entire collection - from priceless jewellery to things that would be throwaway to any other kalon - but not to flavia. she has a strict policy about never throwing away any possession, no matter how poor quality it is - you never know who might want it, and what they'd be willing to pay.

customers:
flavia keeps a record of every transaction she makes - in a big leatherbound book of course, that she writes in with a luxurious quill and golden ink. she knows the importance of appearances.

montserrat copahue storm, 'monty' - bone china vase
monty was not the type of customer flavia is used to. awkward and unsure, he walked into her shop with a very uncertain idea of what he wanted - something in pottery, for his mate. despite her surprise, she had, of course, had the perfect thing - an exquisite, fine-china vase with a mottled design that, he told her, was just like his mate's spots.
reuben - ruby-studded knuckledusters
reuben was clearly a confident customer from the moment the white-furred kalon swaggered into flavia's shop, chains jingling and long plumed tail waving idly, perilously close to the precious items on display. the merchant had only been half surprised by the words: "i want a weapon." she'd hmmed and haahed over the decision, knowing all the while that she had the perfect item in her collection. a pair of dark metal knuckledusteds, studded with diamond-cut rubies that gleamed in the light. when she'd first revealed them to reuben, flavia had been gratified to hear her breath hitch, and - "i'll take them."
tyrian - oystershell necklace
she's never liked competition, but if flavia's realistic about it, a scraggly fish seller isn't exactly a threat to her business. however, that doesn't mean she enjoys his visits to her shop - his fishy smell manages to permeate every inch of silk no matter how short the stay, and it can take days of incense burning to get it back to normal.
the only real transaction they've made was when tyrian took a shine to an oystershell necklace he found among her stock, and spent a week wheedling her down to a price that was vaguely reasonable, before paying half of it and scarpering. she's still furious at him, but ever since he's been wisely staying out of her way.
cleopatra - illuminated book
the two got off to a bad start when flavia caught the merchant thief trying to steal a priceless book from her collection, but cleo smoothed things over by offering to actually pay for the book. flavia was happily soothed by the promise of money, and they parted on good terms, but ever since she's been a litttle more cautious with security.
cassopeia, "cassi" - microscope
cassi was the ideal customer - pliable, enthusiastic and with lots of money. she wanted a present for her beloved mate, who, apparently, liked leaves. after vetoing a book of pressed flowers and a leaf-shaped sideplate, cassi finally decided on a high-power microscope, so her mate could look at leaves in more detail - but not before flavia had torn apart half of the back room trying to reach it and geotten into a very undignified fluster.

outside the shop:
when she's not busy selling expensive gifts to the gullible, flavia likes to walk around the busy streets of her city, and inspect the other local businesses. if she's feeling hungry, she might treat herself to piping hot roasted chesnuts - her favourite since childhood. she loves the distinctive smell of them and their scorching heat on her paws - and it's always good to support local businesses. there are a number of other stalls she likes to visit on her rounds.
though she prefers silk to wool, the bright colours on cola's knitting stand always catch her eye, even if she's unimpressed by the shy way in which he talks to his customers.
as a magpie at heart, flavia always seems to find herself gravitating towards aubrey's jewelry stand and its many glittering treasures. though she has her suspicions about the sources of some of the gems, she certainly isn't going to get the police involved; and besides, aubrey's flirtation and flattery is in her favour - he's added some particularly beautiful pieces to her jewelry collection, and she knows better than to look a gift horse in the mouth.
when it's around, flavia tends to steer clear of jonquil's stall. guns unnerve her, and the stall's proprietor, usually lurking somewhere nearby, even more so. he seems awfully young for such a dangerous job.
