(Can I also vote for a name that Nefarious suggested? I like the name Leijera (: )
Form:
Species name suggestion: Hirsute (literally means long fur)
Username: DrunkenUnicorn
Felines name: Hatchet
Other: (Want a story?)
He moved swiftly, dodging the larger tree trunks and knocking over the smaller ones as he ran. Cold drops of water flung from the broken trees, giving his long coat a shine. The sun just barely peaked over the nearby mountains, telling Hatchet that time was almost up. "Come on! Come on! Come on!" He yelled to himself pushing a bit faster. Hatchet could see the finish line now, a large tree that he had taken to calling home. A bird chirped behind him, he took it for a chant, an encouragement. "Go Hatchet!" He imagined it saying, narrowing his eyes as the tree was only a few yards ahead of him.
Hatchet blinked as the sun came up, lighting up the world around him and waking up the critters that slept. A deep growl vibrated in his throat, slowing down his run and stopping at the tree. He hadn't made it. He shook his paws and coat of the dew before laying down in a patch of grass under the tree. "almost." he mumbled to himself, resting his large head on his paws, his mane hiding the fact that he was there. He quickly fell asleep, his snore enough to warn others to stay away. He never bothered to worry about being attacked, most were not stupid enough to attack his sleeping form, and those that had were quickly dealt with.
Hatchet awoke with a groan, slowly lifting his head to look at the sky. "Only noon." He spoke, stretching out his legs and flipping to his side. Sleep threatened to take over again and he succumbed, only to be woken back up by a voice.
"Mister?" A child's voice said, obviously scared and tired. "Are you awake?" Hatchet lifted his head, looking towards the child. A young lynx sat a few yards away, it's furred ears swiveling around. Lynx were not common around his territory, most stayed in the colder weather.
"Why are you here?" Hatchet asked standing to his full height. He towered over the cub, and with his speed and strength, he had an unfair advantage. The cub seemed to know it, she stood and took a few steps backward. "Can you help me?" It asked staring at the ground. "I was told you are the... Ummm... King I guess." She was surprised when Hatchet gave a laugh.
"I am no king," hatchet explained, walking away, "Go home cub." He added wanting to fill his growling stomach.
(Not finished with the story, but it won't be done by tomorrow. I'm still gonna finish it though.)
