Any suggestions, Kiley? I don't want to make my form absurdly long. That would just take too much time judging and I don't want to do that to you or Lilian.

The Awakening
“They say the impact was so great, even the heavens were shaken.”
My mom was a very good story teller. My favorite story that she used to tell me all the time was about how the world we live in now came to be. Though others called it “the crash”, she called it the awakening.
“Long ago, the world had no magic. Every creature had a role, just like today, but in a different way. It is believed that we were created from wolves, which are creatures that kind of look like us, only with no horns or spikes. They had beautiful markings, and were very intelligent like us.”
“Wait, how it possible that we were created from something else? That doesn’t make any sense.”
“Be patient my child, I’m getting there. Now, where was I? Ah, yes, when we were created from wolves. Long ago our planet was very different. The great Glass Mountains where we make our home were not the same. They didn’t create the beautiful spectrums that we watch every night. The wolves lived where we did now, and there neighbors down in the valley were the Panthers.”
“Let me guess, that’s what the Pantherberai were created from?”
“That’s right son; that is what the great Pantherberai used to be before the Awakening.”
“So, when did the awakening happen?”
“Well, I’ll tell you. It was the darkest part of night, when all the wolves were normally asleep, but every soul was awake that night. They sensed something was coming, something very powerful. Then they saw a great meteor heading to their planet. They watched as it came closer and closer to the mountain. They say the impact was so great, even the heavens were shaken. When the meteorite hit, it released it’s great power. And the wolves were mutated. They grew large horns on the tops of their heads. And the fur on their faces and feet grew longer. The males grew large spikes on their backs, and their back legs. But it wasn’t just physical changes; they were also given the ability of telekinesis, and were able to change things with the power of their minds alone. These new creatures have come to be known as Chimeras.
They decided to go check out this strange thing that had changed their appearance so much. The meteorite was glowing so brightly, they could barely make out what it was. It was a crystal, a powerful one to say the least. And the wolves weren’t the only thing it mutated. It had also changed the appearance of their mountain, which had become nearly transparent in some places. They then noticed the spectrum of light coming from their mountain. That is how our Glass Mountains got their name, they acted as a prism, separating all the colors of light, and displaying them over the valley.
But there was another witness. They say there was a Panther nearby who had seen the crystal, and knew it was the Chimera’s power source. This was the first panther to become a Pantherberus, and the first Pantherberus to become our enemy. Whoever owns the crystal, owns the power source of our world.”
“So that’s why it’s so protected.”
“Yes, dear. Only the highest priority Chimera’s are allowed in the room with the crystal. The Pantherberai want to steal the crystal, and we must keep it from them.”
“Do you think I’ll ever be able to see the crystal, Mom?”
“You should hold on to that dream.”
And hold on to that dream; I did.
The Discovery
“They say the chosen one can sense the great crystal from anywhere in the world.”
To say that this was the best thing that ever happened to me would be an understatement. I’m going to tell you the story of how I was allowed to see the crystal, the life source of our world.
Everyone was asleep, except for me. I was a puppy then, and I was overly curious about things; I always got into trouble. But I didn’t care, because I was having fun. But I never knew this would lead to the best thing that has happened to me. Anyway, since I couldn’t sleep I decided to go out into the field below. Not many chimeras went here since it was so close to the Pantherberus territory, but I wasn’t scared. I actually went there a lot, but only at night. My mother forbid me from going there after an incident with a Pantherberus and another chimera. Apparently he wandered a little too close to a male Pantherberus, and he was never seen again. But I would never be that careless. I always stay downwind of their territory, so they can’t smell me.
I go out to the field a lot, but this particular night was different. I wandered a bit farther than I usually do, and I was getting this strange feeling. Not a feeling of danger, but an overwhelming feeling like a powerful source was nearby. I decided to follow this sense, which maybe wasn’t the best idea, especially since I was moving closer to the Pantherberai territory. I started getting this splitting headache, and I knew I had to be close. Then I looked down, and I noticed the ground below me was glowing; there was something down there. I must’ve dug for ten minutes before I reached it; it’s strange, the glow made it look like it was closer to the surface.
I looked down in disbelief, and also in extreme pain. The power was unbearable; it was a shard of the great crystal. It must have gotten buried deep in the ground when the meteor hit earth, and just now come close enough to the surface for someone to notice it. But why had nobody else sensed its power? I mean, I could sense it from a mile away. I thought maybe my Mother could explain to me why I could sense it, and nobody else could, but that would mean I would have to tell her I disobeyed her. Maybe the fact that I found a shard of the crystal would be enough of an excuse.
The problem was; I wasn’t sure if I could touch it. Would its power be too much for me to handle? But then I thought, if chimeras could move the great crystal without being hurt, then I think moving a shard would be an easy task. The glow was so bright though; wouldn’t something notice me moving with it? After a while of mental debating, I decided I should just grab it, and run; so I did. The journey back seemed much longer than the journey there. I was worrying about how the chimeras would react. Would they be happy and reward me, or would they scold me for wandering to close to the Pantherberai territory?
When I reached our cave, the sun was just starting to peak over the mountain. There were a few chimeras out already, and they noticed me right away.
“Little pup, what have you got there?”
I dropped the shard carefully on the ground, and then they stared at it; then back at me.
“Is that what I think it is?”
“A shard?”
“A piece of the crystal.”
They all started muttering to each other. I was starting to get a little nervous. What were they saying? What were they going to do about this?
“Little pup, what is your name?” asked one of the females. She had a motherly look about her, and it made me feel better.
“My name is Sephoris.”
“Where did you find this, Sephoris?”
That was the question I knew she would ask. But she wasn’t my mother, so technically she couldn’t really punish me for what I had done. I decided to tell her everything, except how close I was to the Pantherberai territory.
“Well, I was wandering around in the field, when I sensed a great power. So I followed it, and it led me to this crystal. It was buried deep in the ground, but I could still see it glowing. So I picked it up, and I ran back here.”
“In the field? Young one; you shouldn’t be running around out there, it’s dangerous. You do remember what happened to that pup a few weeks ago, right?”
“Yes, I remember.”
“Oh, well. No need to argue about this now. We need to get this crystal to the alphas, come on boy.”
“Wait, I can come with you? To meet the alphas?”
“Of course. You found the shard, after all.”
Even though I was about to meet the most important chimeras you could possibly meet, the only emotion I could feel was anxiety. And now that I think about it, there was nothing to be nervous about. If anything I should have been happy. I was still worrying about disobeying my mother. She was the one I was scared of the most, even more than the Pantherberai.
The alphas live in the middle of our territory, that way they are always protected. We, however live in the outskirts of our territory, which is the most dangerous place to live. The trees were so beautiful there in the heart of our territory; so much prettier than the shabby dying trees in the outskirts. The grass was greener too. I have never been anywhere further in than the outskirts, so this was a new experience for me. When we reached the alphas cave, there were two guards out front, who I thought were particularly rude. But when they saw the crystal they stepped to the side and said “Go on in.”
It was even more beautiful in here. It was nothing like our caves at all. Our caves didn’t have beautiful stalagmites and stalactites like these. And the water trickling down them was so beautiful. Then I was stopped by the female chimera.
“This is the alphas chamber, go on in.”
Wait, she expects me to go in there by myself?
“What’s the matter? They won’t bite…hard.” She chuckled, and I laughed nervously back.
“It’ll be ok, kid.” Then she nudged me forward.
I bit down so hard on the crystal, I thought my mouth was bleeding. The alphas were sitting there just talking, they didn’t even notice me until I was right there in front of them.
“Who are you?” the male asked. He had a smile on his face, but his voice so deep it was still scary.
“M-my name’s Sephoris.” I mumbled. He gave me a big smile and I felt a little better.
“And what is this that you have? Oh my, it’s a shard of the crystal. Did you find this, boy?”
“Yes, sir, I did.”
“Where?”
“In The Field. It was buried deep in the ground, and I could still see it glowing. I dug it up and ran back home with it.”
“Were you near the Pantherberai territory?”
“Yes, I was. But I only went that close because I could sense the power of the crystal.”
“YOU could sense the power of the crystal?”
Then he and the alpha female started muttering things to each other. I couldn’t make out what they were saying, but I could have sworn I heard one of them say “the chosen one”. All of a sudden the male said,
“How would you like to see the crystal?”
“You mean…the great crystal? I can see it?” I could barely hold in my tears, I was so happy. It was my dream to see the crystal.
“Yes, my boy. Follow me.”
He opened a secret passage that led to a path that went upward into the mountain. I see now why it was so hard for anyone to get to the crystal. They would have to get past the guards, and the alphas, and then have to find the secret passage. We walked for a long time; how far away was this crystal? I was starting to close my eyes, I could barely stay awake. I hadn’t slept the night before and I had been walking all day. Then I was stopped suddenly by the alpha male.
“In here is the great crystal, to see it is a great honor. Are you ready?”
“I suppose so.”
He pushed open the door, and the light was so bright. I felt the splitting headache I had felt when I found the shard. When my eyes adjusted, I could swear I saw heaven in front of me. This crystal was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. After staring at it for several minutes, and had to wonder; why me? Out of all the chimeras, why would I be able to see the crystal? What made me so special? Did I really hear them say I was the chosen one? And chosen for what? So many questions in my mind that I could not answer.
“They say the chosen one can sense the great crystal from anywhere in the world. If you are the chosen one, you would know where other pieces of the crystal are. You must find them before the Pantherberai do. For they have a chosen one as well, but they do not yet know who.
My boy, this is a huge responsibility; are you ready for it?”
{How did the chimeras appear in the planet?} ;;A meteorite crash landed on earth sending a power surge all across the globe, infecting all the animals, including the great canines that inhabited the surrounding area. They were transformed from wolves into chimera's.
{Where do the Pantherberi live?} ;;In the forests below the mountain where the chimera's live.
{What are the Glass Mountains?} ;;The place where the chimera's live it is made of pure crystal. It hadn't always been like this, it turned into crystal when the earth was upheaved after the meteorite struck the earth.
The fae winced as she struggled forward, her mate tenderly nuzzling her neck in gentle reassurance as he stepped into place beside her to prevent her from falling into the crevices below with her precious cargo. "Come on dear, its not that far now. You can do this." Nodding the mother grunted and thrust herself forward in a persistent effort to reach the cavern up ahead.
She was barely able to carry her weight, and was dazed from exhaustion, having to exert herself to come all the way up to the den. You see, the couple had been coming to their den after a short journey and it was only then most unfortunately that the pups began to feel they no longer wanted to be kept inside their mothers womb. They were quite a distance away however when the pups began to shift, and seeing as they were on open rocky terrain when this occurred the sire felt it was in the pup and mothers best interest to immediately begin going back to the shelter so they may be birthed in a proper environment.
Managing to struggle into the den Arbatel walked off towards the side of the cavern, curling close to its walls for warmth. Her tail rather than pass over her forelegs was wrapped around her belly, and she smiled fondly at the place where she could feel her pups kicking. Oh how she longed to see them. Haeseus in the meantime trotted over eagerly with a mouthful of leaves which he had collected outside, scattering them around his mate as to make bedding for when the pups arrive. He didn't know much about birthing but he knew this would help keep her and the pups warm.
Quite suddenly Arbatel began to pant, her eyes widening in discomfort. "Haeseus...Haseus, their coming!" she said between rasps, her head lowered to the ground as she clenched her teeth. Pressing his muzzle tenderly against his mates Haeseus curled around her, ears flattened against his skull. He didn't feel ready for this...but then again, even if he had been given years of time for preparation, he probably would have never been anyways. No matter the circumstances it was always difficult for a male to watch his mate give birth.
A shot of pain rippled along the fae's spine as her nostrils dialated, her mate encouraging her softly to breathe deeply. "Don't worry Arbatel, Im here, Im here." he soothed.

Haeseus had secured the sixth pup in his jaws, his eyes bright with pride. Ignoring it's persistent wines he placed it , ever so delicately, at his forepaws carefully licking it's fur back to give it warmth. Arbatel glanced back weakly at her pups, eyes glowing with affection as she nuzzled one towards her belly so it could suckle. The pup whimpered at first, sneezing as it pawed it's dams large belly, though it soon found a place to nourish itself and ignoring it's siblings as they clambered over him he began to feed. "Their all so lovely." she breathed, barely able to draw her eyes away to look at her mate. Clasping his cheek against hers he smiled in amusement as one yawned with a squeak, whimpering as it fought for a place at it's mothers belly. "We should start namig them." said Arbatel, her tail wagging a bit at the idea, however she kept her calm heir. "Uhhh, okay. Which would you like to name first?"asked Haeseus lifting a brow. "How about.." she examined each pup carefully, her eyes reaching a young male with delicate apricot markings. "How about we call that one Ryuu." "Ryuu?" Haeseus seemed to think on the idea for a minute, analyzing the pups appearance and personality. The creature cocked it's head up at it's sire, though he couldn't see him, he culd smell him. Seemingly curious he began to waddle awkwardly towards Haeseus, yelping as he bumped into on of his large forepaws. Scenting the outstretched paw the pup licked it repeatedly, taking in the taste and scent. Haeseus couldn't help but smirk, as Arbatel began giggling at her pups accent. "I think Ryuu is perfect."

It was the first time he had ever attended a training session.
The male sat with vividly brilliant eyes in the audience, surrounded by eager cubs and colleagues of the performers who had come all the way from camp to see the older apprentices compete amongst themselves. If Ryuu was right, the percentage of people present were roughly his own age. He suspected that any older ones were relatives of the performers who had come to inspect how their bloodline was being handled.
In his maw he clutched a small but incredibly flamboyant flower , and his paws shuffled nervously as he stared anxiously at the display that was to unfold before him. Excitement seized his childish heart and he privately thanked his mother for letting him stay up a little later than usual tonight.
A young fae slipped out from behind the green flecks of material and he blinked at her, caught off guard. Even at his relatively young age, Ryuu was attracted to some girls... and most especially this one. She had gorgeous sterling silver fur that as she flipped, it reflected and shined under the sunlight. Her vibrant viridian-green eyes glanced meticulously over the audience before she bowed her head and welcomed them with a curved, voracious grin. It was a playful gesture, one that her friends chortled at with fond yips of amusement.
"Enough fooling around Azzurra, face your opponent so we may start the session."
---
When the exhibition ended, the audience slowly bled out of the clearing, most talking in fervent whispers about the amazing contention they had just seen. Ryuu sat in his exact same spot, feeling as though his jaw was touching the floor. He had never seen something so... breathtaking.
He carefully moved to his feet and shook his fur of any debris from his flower that had been stirred up during the brawl, forgetting he had even brought it in the first place. His throat felt dry from the wonder that was electrocuting his body. He took a deep breath, licked back his floppy fur tufts, and walked where the 'crew' was now getting a few last tasks such as cleaning the training area. A small company of wolves bustled back and forth, escorting their young back to their dens while a few others stayed to help clean.
One female was shouting orders at all the participants and she seemed to be in charge, so Ryuu picked his way over to her, trying not to jump up and down. She had a round, warm face and jovial eyes despite the harsher tone she was putting off to get her trainees in order. He cleared his throat as he stood beneath her critical gaze.
"Excuse me miss, but... I'm here to ask after an apprenticeship?"
He wasn't sure why the words were so important but he could hear the work slowing behind him. Everything that had been loud, trainees chatting loudly amongst themselves even some older wolves stopped to watch, all noise seemed to abruptly fade. He felt as though inside his head he could hear a pebble dropped by an avian in the distance fall to the floor. Behind the female he could see the same silver-furred fae from before glaring at him. He blushed.
A maternal smile crossed the woman's face and she pat his head with an apologectic purr. "I'm sorry, lad, but I've got my hands full as is. Besides, you really should have your parents teach you since they can. I don't even teach these ones all the time, I only teach them when their parents can't. This isn't really an organized class and not something you should dedicate yourself to."
He deflated under the disapproval, chewing his thin lip with pouting eyes. "But... please? I'm a really good worker, I promise and I... I have't been able to get any battle training yet." He admitted, ashamed over his honesty but saying it anyway.
She quirked a brow at him, thinking, but the pretty girl from behind was faster. "He looks like he's got potential." She said simply, not letting her gaze leave the elder as the sun flickered across her expression burnishing her exotic face. She didn't comment on why she thought he deserved it; heck, she didn't even look at him. Ryuu fidgeted, unhappy.
This time there was only a split second pause before the woman laughed and shook her head. "Alright, boy. You can work with me for a while. But only when your parents can't. You hear?" She declared, and he brightened instantly, his eyes dancing.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" He squealed, sprinting over to the left side of the stage where a fellow apprentice was already gesturing for him to join the tasks. Ryuu disappeared after where the gesture directed him practically oozing cheer. The female glanced back at the charcoal hued fae who's subtle commentary had assisted Ryuu in joining the throng."Go after him, he may need help cleaning up around here." Nodding, almost as if to herself, she released any moss she had been carrying and padded after the male. With her lithe and nimble figure it didn't take long for her to find her place beside him, which he seemed to have left open for her. He eyed her a bit awkwardly, obviously wanting to say something, perhaps a thank you, though he found himself unable in his tensity.
The fae however was quite lax, and elevating her left brow she shot him a wiry smile. "So, what's the flower you got there for?" she asked inquisitvely.
Ashwyn's Daxius is featured in the story.
What a childish conception.
"Innocence?" He drawled, and with the words that dripped sarcastic accent came the glint of aserbic eyes. "What right have you to define innocence?"
His companion guffawed as though his mere inquiry was a fraud. In response to his friend, a reflective pair of near-glowing eyes returned the flickering glean. "Daxius, I don't need your sass." Unlike the male who faced him, this one had a more feminine, lilting voice, and the roary ears that framed his keen face gave him a childish appearance when paired with his slender body.
Lounging back in against a sunbathed rock, Daxius armed himself with a charming smile.
"If you keep tempting me like this, Ry, I'm gonna have to hurt ch'a." He complained, and although the other wilted at the nickname, the entertaining grin didn't falter. This seemed like a conversation each had hosted multiple times. Even if the steps changed and the words found new meaning, it was monotonous.
As though sensing the familiar route this was taking, his partner took on a flowering pout. "How many times need I correct you on my name? It's Ryuu, not Ry."
Removing a large crystal shard from the edge of his den, Daxius showed him a sharp grin. "I thought you liked it when I called you that."
The pup blushed and promptly ducked his head, carefully picking up his own piece of glass by its delicate stem. He didn't comment for a minute, letting the sweet sounds of the alleviating tune nature played to fill the hollow cavern. His gaze taunted him from the surface of the translucent sliver of crystal fragment.
"I don't think our friendnship is very healthy."
Daxius's chin moved only the slightest of an inch as they both exited the cave, side by side, his smile a fraction of a centimeter. His eyes glanced down to the younger male with countless questions but no words.
Ryuu sighed, reposition the crystal so it fit better in his jaw. The trinket made a faint clinking noise as he twisted and turned it uncomfortably between his tongue and teeth. "We should be capable of being honest with each other, right?" He didn't expect a response from the other and didn't receive one; only the faintest click of a claw against the hardened soil echoed him.
Folding his ears back against his skull in unease at the response, Ryuu leaned forward and cocked his head upright. His startlingly vivid eyes watching his companion in annoyance. "Do you want to hear what I'm about to say, or what?"
Absently, Daxius looked up at the other with a faint smile. "Ryuu, I'm always listening."
The first thing he thought when she saw him was that his coat was a highly unusual color.
The second thing he thought when she saw him is that he wasn't going to survive long up here.
The canine hybrid stalked through the alpine territory like his kind encouraged him to before approaching an usual species. Occasionally as he crept low to the ground he could even delude himself that just on the boundaries angry enemies bristled and tried to steal his precious land.
Due to his naturally inquisitive nature the pup was lured towards the rodent creature, his head lowered and eyes tapered. The pup was too young to be out exploring, he had recently escaped the threshold of his mothers gaze and ventured into the underbrush to seek new adventures. Since he had never been out of camp before and this was his first time, he had never encountered a rodent before, nor something live to run around with other than his pack mates; so when he saw the rodent, he was puzzled. It was obviously alive, and inflamed with such a shade of yellow that it couldn't be natural. It must be another scientific breakthrough that wasn't as much of a breakthrough as they imagined.
He noticed that the rat was obviously freezing to death. Even coated in such an intense hue of color, his miniature paws were getting tinged with the mundane shade of blue-black that meant frostbite. He felt bad for the tiny thing, but didn't step in, not yet.
It was a mistake that, later on, he would very much regret.
The days bled past and he caught scent nor sound of the infestation so he began to forget him. He figured the warriors had merely removed the pest; never once did her mind drift towards death. He bundled himself up tighter in the cloak of warm fur he wore and stepped out into the winter world just to catch sight of him one more time on the seventh day.
He was starving to death. His back legs were hindered by the frostbite that stole up his limbs. When he saw him, he instantly tried to shakily stand and flee, seeing the canid as his nemesis, the predator who merely played with him from afar but never truly did anything good.
The chimera didn't let him get far. He immediately felt horrible, and gently grabbed the rodent by his scruff. He fought him, but he was much too weak to launch as epic a battle as he had wanted. He carried him into his warm den and softly placed him in the back, in the pile of leaves and sticks he had collected as a nest right over a hitch in the cave wall where Ryuu usually slept.
He slowly relaxed into the warmth and he smiled down at him, flicking his barbed tail back and forth, his majestic eyes the same shade of blue as his intimidating claws. The rat eyed both features just as warily as the other. "Feel better now?" Ryuu inquired.
In truth, he had no idea if he would lose his back legs, or if he could find something around here to feed him while he recovered. He had never really searched for vegetation and seeds, and as he scoured her mind he figured there might be some places he could look but none were promising. He didn't let this negativity show on his expression and only smiled bigger when he looked up at him.
"A little." He replied slowly, warily, and he purred in delight.
"You can call me Ryuu." He introduced, laying down beside the nest but careful not to crowd his personal space. He didn't want him to become afraid of him, after all. It would make saving him that much harder.
He grinned and flicked his whiskers, pleased at his greeting. "I'm Pippin."

It was busy tonight.
His tail drummed against the ground in the perfect anticipation he experienced every night; the moss that he clutched swiped neat circles over the den floor Every time a colleague got his attention, the young pup would slug a piece of moss or spongy foliage from his pile down their way, having perfected long ago the art of moss sliding. He liked doing chores, it made him feel useful to the pack.
The loud noises coming from outside made his pulse light up. He hated being so near the gaping cave opening but no amount of complaining could get him to switch positions with another apprentice. And it would be pointless to budge on where the moss stockpile was set up.
His radiant blue eyes swept the room again and just as he was about to turn back to finding a cleaner piece of foliage for his repetitive, cooling motion, he saw her.
The female walked through the room as though there was nobody there. Entirely, impossibly professional, she held a piece of moss similar to Ryuu's own in her mouth and absently flicked her silky tail as she trotted on, a flower pinned behind her delicate ears. His mind only subconsciously registered the vibrant floral decor perched gracefully atop her head, though consciously upon seeing it in its place he became excited. When she noticed that Ryuu was watching her, she cocked a brow as though in mere challenge, pausing momentarily.
He instantly shrank beneath her penetrating glare and quickly looked away, a blush rising on his soft cheeks. It was mutiny to speak to the more experience pup; she was well guarded from Ryuu under the watch of her brother Daxius and could not be touched, let alone conversed with without treading on dangerous territory.
Her ringing laugh sent prickles up his spine and, embarrassed, he glanced at her. She lifted her dainty chin with a curious smile and waved her tail at him in greeting, her alluring gaze held on his own bewildered one. Pan practically died but was distracted when some angry colleague roared his name; by the time he had gotten the great oaf of a male served and settled down once again, Azzurra was gone.
Pan sighed, setting his soaked moss on the rocky ground and cradling his chin there. The woman was serenely beautiful; even if she had not been under her brothers eye, she would not be interested in a lowly pup such as he. Taking a moment to shake out his scruffy neck fur, Ryuu rubbed a paw through his forelock and stood up, pushing her from his mind.
Across the room, tucked into the corner with her brother Daxius who was mingling, Azzurra was looking over Daxius's gold shoulder to Ryuu. She was only halfway listening to her sibling; her soft aquamarine eyes glittered in a certain sort of mischief as a scheme began forming in her mind.
This would be fun.
