As for the crayon look, I would make the scatter up to around, 30-40... And maybe something else.. I haven't tried, but I will test out when I do a red line. :DD Shading, what do you mean? Fur shading?

I have to admit, tracing at first does help. I used to trace photos. But then, I developed a style. Use references as well.
This isn't bad either, it's quite good, actually. :DD
Though, are you going for a realistic style, or a non realistic one? I see your style so far in the middle. :)
