Its "dorsal fin" is just a weird mane like thing, and it's tail has areas where the fur grows long, making them resemble fins. And I like to think that this creature cannot look up due to the anatomy of its neck, just like how a pig cannot bend its neck to look up.
Mostly drew this because like 90% of the sharkdogs I see on DA are just... dogs with a shark tail and dorsal fin. It just gets a little repetitive since a lot of people create a shark x dog hybrid almost the same way. I wanted to challenge myself and take a popular concept, and make my own version of it.
Edit:
This species is now named Casqual (Ca-skwu-all). The name comes from "canine" and "squaliformes"
Facts:
Diet: Carnivore. Preys on capruses and small mammals.
Lifespan: About 15-20 years
Size: Size is similar to a large dog
Habitat: Forests, riversides, wetlands
The casqual, sometimes called a 'squal, is an animal whose fur oddly resembles that of an aquatic creature. Despite appearances, 'squals are land predators that often prey on small mammals and capruses. They do occasionally eat fish, should the opportunity present itself.
A 'squal is a common companion due to their loyalty to owners, intelligence, and fighting prowess. ('Squals basically act like the dogs of the pallio world)
Alright, here's a quick guide on how to make one of these. As this species is based on dogs and sharks, so will its markings and colors:
Markings: Pretty much any real canine and shark markings are accepted. For example, I used a leopard shark's markings for the one I drew above.
Colors: Same as above. As long as a real canine breed or shark has the color, then it's accepted. No unrealistic colors please! Like bright purple or green.
Eye colors: Yellows, greens, blues, browns, and reds/pinks.
