Overview
The Pudirrox is a small creature, almost fox-like. It has large ears
that can twist 180 degrees, a small, sensitive nose, and a nimble
body complete with a long, fluffy tail. It has retractable claws and
can use these to pick up small items for a short period of time.

Its fur is double layered; and sheds in the summer, growing very long
in the winter to protect it in the bitter and unrelenting weather of Alaska.

The least you need to know
It is an insectivore/herbavore that likes shiny things, and might
be related to foxes, squirrels, and deer. It does not bode well in
captivity, but can be safely done. It can be awake at any times
depending on it's personality. They live to about 4.5 years old.

About Coloring

Postby ~Razzle~ » Thu Feb 06, 2014 9:05 am

As an open species, you can do pretty much anything you like. I do ask, however, that you follow the species guide lines. You can either make them for yourself or for friends, or put them up for adoption. Do not make a profit out of these.
For coloration, these creatures are natural colored, usually with some kind of stripes.

More Information About Pudirrox

Diet
It eats insects and fruit, it's favorite being beetles. It gorges itself
almost all the day due to the large amount of energy it uses. It spends
its spare time resting to conserve energy. Its jaws are strong, and teeth
needle thin to crack through the hard shells of insects. If it can't bite
it open, it often pounds a small rock on it until it gives way. As for fruit,
it is a rather picky eater, using the sharp claws to peel away the skin,
and will spit out the seeds. It is allergic to lemons and limes; our
scientists believe it has to do with the high citrus contained in them.

Habitat
Pudirrox live in the Rainforest; and are only found in the Tongass National
Forest rain forest in the southeastern Alaska, the biggest national forest
in the United States. It spreads across an area of 17 million acres. It is
home to rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, such as the Pudirrox.

Mating behavior
Pudirrox typically travel together in groups of 3-5, but many are solo. Once a group has
settled on a place to live, they are very territorial, attacking any other creature
that invades it's living space. Males disperse, making chirruping noises to attract
a mate. To impress the female, a male will often present her with a gift of
something shiny; usually some dropped human trash or a beetle shell. The female
will collect the gifts and litter her den with them, accepting the male with the best
gift as her mate. They don't mate for life, and usually have 1-3 pups. Pups will
leave the den at 3 months of age for the first time, and leave the den for good at
eight months. The parents will teach the pups to hunt and hide. Some pups will leave,
others will stay with their parents for life, forming a group called a rookery.

Past-time activities
They have a fascination with shiny things, whether it be trash, a beetle shell, or even a
comet at night, and will stay up all night if it's a meteor shower. They are unique in that
they can be awake at any times; some are nocturnal, some diurnal. Others are awake for
scattered times and take naps. They typically need 4-7 hours of sleep per day.

Related to
It is a strange creature that closely resembles both a Fennec fox, squirrel and a
pudu deer, in the fluffy tail, small size, nimble legs, etc. DNA tests have
been done, and it seems that is may be related to all three of those.

Survival in captivity
They tends not to bode well in captivity as it needs a large territory to find
all the insects it needs to supply itself with energy. There is a private zoo
in Colorado that has these creatures in it, but it is a very large space with
thousands of insects deposited daily.
