I think a barrel saddle and a cutting saddle would be the two basics to do. =3
Western bridles, there is the single strap that only goes around behind ears to hold bit in, and the ones that go behind the ears like the other ones, and then have a chin strap as well as a throat strap, and one in front of their ears over their forehead. Those are the two basic western saddles and bridles I know...

I ride western X3, and use to barrel race, I know the headstalls. chin strap is curb chain(now strap) and forehead strap is the browband. They also have one-ear brownbands in western.

I shall do cutting and barrel then

I can't wait to see, Neara! You draw horses very good!
I don't ride western myself, but I really love to see it! The way horse and rider communicate, it's awesome, and the horses are so relaxed if the riders do it right

Sabje, it depends on the horse too. =3 some horses get to excited to do some things. X3 I got a mare who won't put her head down level with her back. lol
