Lock alpha... Eh, hard to explain, so I give you an example B]
You make a new layer, draw a spot, or whatever you want on it, then you check the Lock Alpha box, and you will not be able to draw outside what you have already drawn. In this drawing, you can therefore check the lock alpha box on the COLOR HERE layer, and you will not need to worry about coming outside the lines. This is possible because the COLOR HERE layer is not a blank layer, I have already colored gray inside the lines. If you try to draw on a place on a layer where there is no color already, while you have checked the lock alpha box, you will have no effect.
