An entry for Guppy #32, I love her <3
Here, Chernobyl is sitting at a table trying to calm down. She's drinking chamomile tea, which helps calm nerves. I've written a small story of her life (so far) because I've been thinking of her story ever since I made the entry.
Chernobyl was born into a rich family that cared about looks and money, nothing else. They had painted their reputation as people who were kind and caring, as they were known for donating to charities. The story behind how they chose the charities was one of carelessness, as their servants often looked upon them as they picked a random charity off a list as they said, "Give a few million to this one, our reputation has gone down since Johnson left and told the media about us." When she was born, her parents gave a fake smile and said, "She's perfect!" as they held her nervously. What if it bites me? her mother thought. Will I get some awful disease? The truth was, Chernobyl just had a rather odd appearance. The doctors said that her mother probably smoked a cigarette or two when she was expecting, which caused her appearance. Willing to give her another chance, they took her home. When she became hungry, however, she dripped all over her family's couch. "How disgusting!" her father seethed. "She's soiled our couch!" Calling his wife to the room, she walked in and wrinkled her nose in disgust as she smelled a sulfurous scent- her daughter. "What happened?" as her husband explained the situation to her, she said simply, "Jeeves, take her to the orphanage. They are to be told she came from a poor, ugly family they couldn't care for her." Eyeing her butler's tuxedo, she added with a scoff. "And put on your worst clothes. They'll suspect something if you come in a custom-tailored suit."
And so Chernobyl spent the next eighteen years at the orphanage, hoping that maybe someone with a kind heart would pick her up and take her to a loving home. And a pet would be nice, maybe a bird? She spent her days watching the birds with her cheek smushed against the cool glass and a rag on the sill in case she smudged. She was teased by the orphans that she bunked with. "The only reason someone would adopt you would be so that you can do farm work!" The cruelty never lasted long when she was young because the people who teased her were adopted sooner or later, but as she grew old, her tormentors grew old as well. There was no need for an orphan in their teens, everyone wanted infants or toddlers to raise as their own. The day she turned eighteen, she was given a vanilla cupcake and kicked out. After wandering around the streets for a few days, she stumbled upon a homeless shelter. By this time she was battered and bruised, being harassed on the streets for being a "freak". Upon seeing her condition, they took her in and gave her a permanent room, a rag, a mug, chamomile tea, and an electric kettle. This is where she stays now, where she volunteers to help the other homeless guppies.
