Well, since I last drew cute Hatoful Boyfriend fan art, for contrast I now must draw sad Hatoful Boyfriend fan art. This is obviously a work in progress, I still need to add color and shading and fix up the line art a bit.
Nageki is on the left and Hitori is on the right. Since it's a bit difficult to tell, Hitori's more meant to be terrified/freaked out rather than angry in this picture. The letter is there because Nageki promised Hitori never to say that he was fine because it meant that he wasn't, and then he sent Hitori a letter only saying "I'm fine" to let him know that something was seriously wrong. (Also, yes, that letter does say "St. Pigeonation's" at the top, and that is a little fail pigeon below.)
This could really take place at many different points in the game. I tried to pick a fixed scene, but I couldn't think of one that would be interesting to draw. This is most likely Nageki's death or when Hitori goes a bit insane near the end of the game though because of the exaggerated emotions and background.
Also, yes, I know the anatomy is horribly off. I will work on fixing that, but I need a break from drawing now. Pfft, Hitori and Nageki both have messed up hands and arms. For some reason I'm horrible at drawing Nageki even though he's my absolute favorite character in the game.
This took surprisingly long as well. The timer's only about a half hour off. Nageki and Hitori do not belong to me, they belong to the creators of Hatoful Boyfriend.

Alright, I think I'm finished with this now. I decided to make the scene look more like when Hitori goes crazy than Nageki's death by adding the shadow version of Nageki to it. I guess it would be sort of Hitori's imagination of that event since he wouldn't look like he does here and he'd probably actually be grabbing Ryouta.
Even though I drew them as humans, I made the shadow Nageki a bird since I couldn't fit in another human and birds are a lot quicker to draw.The bird silloutte is meant to be of a mourning dove since that's what Nageki is, but it probably looks nothing like one since I've never drawn a bird before.
I tried some new shading methods in this drawing as well (mainly just somewhat exaggerated versions of my regular style). I like how the shading on the clothing came out, but don't really care for the shading on the hair. I'll try to do better with that in my next drawing.
Sorry if this drawing makes no sense to people who haven't played the BBL route of Hatoful Boyfriend, I just wanted to draw something that I'd enjoy, not necessarily something that everyone would recognize.
I also think this is a new record for the most time that I've spent on a single drawing. Pfft, this is why I don't usually make drawings with two people in them, it takes nearly twice the amount of time.

I doubt that I'd be much calmer if I'd been through all that Hitori has. It doesn't seem like something to be that calm about. Although I must say, Hitori does overreact a bit a lot.
Nageki seems to stay fairly calm about everything though, which is kind of creepy considering that he's had it even worse than Hitori.
Pfft, these characters just have one of the most stereotypically sad backstories that I've ever heard, their names even mean grief and alone. I'd say that's pretty depressing.
