Gingernut yawned. It was the fourth of July and she had been up late watching fireworks. She now was heading home, watching the trees flash by through the car window. Soon the car whipped around a corner into her neighborhood and drove into her driveway. Gingernut pulled herself out of the car into the house and when she reached her room collapsed on her bed.
Gingernut awoke to a loud boom beside her bed. A firework sparkled down from above her. Glowing sparks fell into the distance and out of site. Suddenly, Gingernut realized she wasn’t in her room. She yelled in surprise when there was no ground below her bed. Slowly, she looked below. The was no ground in sight. Another firework interrupted her thoughts and she clung terrified to her bed. She was alone, floating, in the middle of nowhere. The sparks of the fireworks formed a rainbow glowing path. After a little bit, Gingernut was too impatient to continue waiting a jumped, almost carelessly, onto the path. When she found it was solid, soft and conferrable on her paws she happily ran across it leaping through the sky. The sparks rippled like water when she stepped on them.
Gingernut continued following the path. She grew steadily higher in the sky. Stars glowed around her; the fireworks slowed and seemed to just swirl noiselessly around until they did not appear like fireworks at all. She heard water and looked around. Pale orange fizzing clouds formed fluffy ground cut by a stream of smooth chocolate. She hopped onto the clouds, it was slightly sticky and she was tempted to take a bite. Orange soda flavored cotton candy! She thought and then took a sip from the stream, Chocolate milk.
Gingernut Saw a tree, a sweet cinnamon sugar smell drifted from it and she eagerly climbed it. After a while of sitting in the tree Gingernut felt lonely, she began to crave a friend to share this wonder with. Her usual cheerfulness began to fade, worrying thoughts crossed her mind. What if I can’t find my way back? What if I am trapped here forever? What if I never see my friends or family again? Suddenly the clouds began to fade. Gingernut woke up again in her room and let out a long breath. That was fun. She thought and then ran downstairs to tell her family about the dream.
