This sketch paper looks as if it were purposefully burned. According to the lettering, and penmanship running, it looks like it were put out with water. Our assumptions were slightly conformed by the entry below.
This entry was a bit late because I had to flee. The town over 250 miles away found the Desert Zamchy's town. They burned it down, and all my sketches set aflame. I got out just in time, thanks to Muddin. He saved my life. I'm sorry to say Lilly wasn't so lucky. They caught her. They caught Muddin's best friend. She helped me collect my samples of the Twisted Bark Trees. I'm writing this because she gave me a basket just before the humans came. It was tucked nicely, which led me to assume her owner Lillian helped her. When the humans came, I went out to look for her. I had my black hood on, and it was thankfully dark. I peered around the corner of the building, and I saw them shoving her into a cage. A cage! For a Zamchy! I promised her I'd save her, but... I... I couldn't..
I wasn't thinking and I ran out to get her, and they saw me. They called out my name, thinking they found the girl they abandoned so long ago. Then, just as they were about to capture me too, Muddin came, and grasped my shirt in his teeth, galloping off into the night...
When he stopped, I opened the basket. We were safely at Green Valley. I looked up at the trees for the first time since I came upon my friends. Well, the basket held a single flower shaped yellow leaf, a long strip of hard, strong black flesh, and blood red rough bark. A Zamchy hoof print in white ink stamped on the top of a new journal, and sheets of sketch paper made specially by Lillian. The color was a dull, dusty white-ish pink.
Here's a quick description of this tree. A single touch to the tree, and it brings shivers down your spine. It seems to hold such magnificent power. The flowers, when crushed, smell like death and decay, but when dipped into a solution, and let sit for 2 weeks, the flower comes apart, and makes golden thread used to sew names onto blankets, or something else. The young women who makes the blankets out of the flesh of the Darkwood tree also makes this thread, which is sold for 45 Zaym for a single spool which can be used for quite a few things, or she can make a blanket out of these, too, which cost thousands of Zaym. She also sews this thread along the edge of a Darkwood flesh blanket, which, when draped over someone who is sick and/or dying heals the person so they do not pass on. It's quite cool, actually.
