A Brief Synopsis
Camp has started off splendidly with the return of the summer campers, and some new faces have even appeared. Everything changed when snowflakes started floating from the sky around lunchtime. The temperature steadily dropped, and the snow quickly coated the ground. It was strange, but tolerable at least. Chiron called a meeting of the Senior Counsel, during which a prophecy was spoken. They decided to keep it under wraps until the campfire that night. The rest of the day went by without incident, save the continuous, lazy descent of the quickly growing snow.
Despite previous discussion about postponing, Capture the Flag started without a hitch. But during the game, the frigid winds picked up and the sky grew ever darker. The gale whipped into a blizzard, accompanied by a few swirling blizzard spirits who began attacking the campers. Eventually, the game was called off, with the venti defeated and no one having actually captured a flag. A search party was gathered to look for demigods lost in the storm, headed by none other than Chiron himself. One camper did not make it out alive. Everyone else was told to make their way to the Big House to warm up. Unfortunately, as demigods were arriving, the heavy snow proved too much for the roof to hold. It collapsed inwards, causing chaos and confusion in its wake. There were many injuries, and seventeen total fatalities. A heavy loss to be sure, but something gave the feeling that this was only the beginning.
The campfire burned black that night; an eerie reflection of the camp's shared grief. Announcements were made, including the reveal of the prophecy and names of the deceased. Afterwards, everyone was sent off to bed; too despondent even for campfire songs.
The next morning brought with it a sense of stillness and foreboding. Grief still permeated the air like a thick fog, but there were more important matters at hand. A meeting was held after breakfast to talk about the prophecy, with new information coming to light. Disturbing rumours of a foreign dignitary ousting demigods, and another god being involved with Khione and her demigod daughter chief among the rising concerns. Not only that, but they had learned that the snow was blanketing the entire state of New York. A quest was quickly assembled. The departing demigods said what goodbyes they could before meeting back up at the ruins of the Big House to head off and face their frosty foes.
Meanwhile, an argument broke out in the Dining Pavilion. Lucy Blitzen accused Orin Gorman of being a traitor. Tempers rose, and the argument became a fight. It all became too much for Orin and he fled the pavilion. Unfortunately, the stress caused a haemorrhage due to a preexisting medical condition. Orin died in Cabin 7, and his soul journeyed to the Underworld. A surge of electricity blew all the camp fuses as Orin died, and a peal of thunder shook the sky.
Chiron gathered the campers around the campfire. Its purple flames flickered ominously as he divulged the terrible news - Orin was dead, and Alex was also confirmed to be deceased. He informed everyone of the attack just as it was about to happen, but no one was expecting the ranks of undead soldiers that would join the venti. The undead quickly took hold of the golden fleece, disabling the magical barrier that protects the camp. Venti swarmed in to attack the demigods, accompanied by their militaristic allies. Vivienne herself led the attack, but she has remained hidden from sight. She has a more important mission in mind; something that will crush the spirits of all the campers and curse the land for eternity...
The battle was long and fierce, but eventually came to an end - with Vivienne being nearly killed by Will but swooped away by a mysterious saviour at the last minute. The undead soon seemed to realise they were dead and went into a state of shock at this realisation. Many demigods were wounded or exhausted, but no one was killed (that they know of). The horn eventually sounded for a late dinner, with the nymphs bringing the wounded their own food in the Apollo cabin.
Chiron called everyone to campfire to hold funerals for the deceased. Everyone headed off to bed and awoke the next morning to find snow still cascading steadily from the sky. The demigods of Camp Half-Blood started their day and are making preparations to defend their home.
Main Quest Synopsis
Soon after leaving, the questing demigods ran into some trouble by the border - there were venti everywhere! After an expeditious retreat, they continued on their journey. They sent an Iris-message to warn Chiron of the impending attack. Not long into their trek, they stopped at a small roadside diner and had a late lunch. Afterwards, they said goodbye to their pegasi mounts and traveled via van loaned by Laurel's aunt, searching for a place to stay for the night.
The group stopped at a hotel, where Mirabelle used charmspeak to get them some rooms and they split off into pairs. Various drama and hijinks ensued. After a night of peaceful slumber for some and restless turning for others, the demigods ate breakfast at the hotel. But a news broadcast featuring an interview with Malcolm Kingston derailed their morning, and they were attacked by harpies disguised as cleaning ladies. They are currently fighting/fleeing said harpies.
