Description/Image: Haley is smaller than the average teenage girl her age, slightly over five feet tall, and very skinny, being not much more than skin on bone. She is also very pale (probably due to lack of sunlight and the fact that she cannot actually tan (not that she cares much anyway)) and has dark circles beneath her eyes, possibly a side effect of annemia or bright computer screens in dark rooms. She has thick, slightly-wavy, reddish tawny hair that reaches about halfway down her back and hazel eyes with a golden tint. She is also extremely nearsighted and can't clearly more than six inches in front of her face without her contact lenses. Sometimes she likes wearing monster contacts to freak her friends out.
Personality: Haley is generally a very quiet and relaxed person (quite perfect for dealing with someone like Karkat), but despite this she does have a bit of a temper, just not a very pronounced one. Even when angry, she is not aggressive (and is sometimes referred to as squishy) because it is not in her nature to be aggressive, since she has never needed to be, however she can sometimes be seen as sarcastic and rude. Despite her shy and gentle nature, she has a devious side, often riling Karkat up on purpose by playfully calling him names and insulting him for her own amusement only to have to calm him down again; in spite of this she affectionately calls him "lovable and vicious". In contrast to her mild outer appearance, she likes rock music, mostly head-banger metal and punk bands, and ironically finds their angry-sounding style soothing; as such, she usually tries "mellowing" her friends out with such music, though it doesn't always work. Though sometimes serious, she has a playful nature and childlike curiousity, shown by her many hoards of stuffed animals and her love of baby animals and all other things cute. She likes clothes that feature bright colors against dark or neutral backgrounds and as such has several dark clothing items featuring neon and other colors. She also likes wool socks and sneakers, and has a hobby of making paracord bracelets.
Haley is known for her creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, but has a hard time focusing on something she has lost interest in, was never interested in to begin with, or has lost all motivation for doing something. She feels pressured by rules and schedules and prefers to live freely and do things in her own time. She is also extremely mentally disorganized and is easily distracted and has a hard time remembering things, though she is highly intelligent (her teachers often remark that her average grades reflect badly on this, though really she just can't remember details). She does not know the true meaning of the word "hate" and cannot hold a grudge for very long against anyone (it should be noted, however, that she strongly dislikes Vriska, but not enough for the relationship to be considered kismesis). She also dislikes spiders, wasps, and all other insects and arachnids for some weird reason that most females seem to share. She likes comedies (and comedics like Dane Cook and Jeff Dunham), rom-coms (as long as they don't suck), and enjoys anything fantasy- or paranormal-related. She has a tendency to escape into her own imaginary world often, and will believe in anything unless solid proof is given that it is indeed false (as such, she believes that dragons once did roam the earth and that mermaids do exist, because it has not yet been proven false).
