Welcome to our insanity...
It is the year 967 of the calendar of ‘Wyrm’ and country of Anum Rosa has been at war for over two hundred and fifty years against the Guardians. The lands of Anum Rosa are starved and barren, death plagues all mortal beings... but within this dead, war ravaged land there is still. Hope that the Great Plains may grow again in this silent world of nothingness, but in order to have hope one must still know the story of how the war began.
It all began six hundred years ago during the ‘Stella Period’. These times were hard and very corrupt; it was a period where a great famine plagued the lands and royals and peasants alike fought viciously over fertile land and resources. Crime was entering a new peak within Anum Rosa and murder between the monarchies was common. It was within the tragedy and bloodshed that creatures slowly began to surface from their silent tombs long forgotten by the citizens of the land. ‘The Guardians’, as the creatures called themselves, quickly made themselves noticed by the citizens of the country and asked to meet the seven remaining royal families. Fearful, the seven families agreed to the meeting, and on the night of a Lunar Eclipse they met with the creatures.
The creatures told the royals that they would not harm their people and wished to create an agreement with the humans. The royals shakily agreed to this and asked of what they wish to agree on. ‘The Guardians’ told the humans that they would restore their lands to health if they were allowed to roam the world free of conflict. The royals agreed wearily. And so ‘The Guardian’ restored the lands and brought peace of mind to the humans.
Life continued as normal for many decades. The humans grew to love the mystic beings that dwelled in their land; that was until the rule of King Nero. King Nero an arrogant man born into the Pureblood Polonox monarchy. For many decades Nero ruled the east side of the ‘Land of Noir’ with his beautiful wife Belle, a mermaid that had disguised herself as Nero’s missing cousin in order to marry him. There was little conflict between the royal couple except for matter of having children together. Nero wished to have an heir to his throne; however Belle did not wish to bear such a child. This angered Nero however he had a plan that would ensure him that he would have an heir. On one night Nero got Belle very drunk before going to bed with her, the result was that Belle got pregnant much to her utter shock and mistrust of her husband. Nine months later Belle gave birth to two healthy sons; however they were anything but human. The sons had odd coloured eyes and webbed hands. Nero when he found out about his sons was furious and ordered Belle’s execution right away. He order his army to round up all ‘Guardians’ in the east and be locked away in the castle dungeons. As for his two sons, he abandoned them in ‘The Whispering Woods’.
Although Nero’s actions were only secluded to the East Side of Noir, other ‘Guardians’ from the lands sort to build a bridge between the royal families. The ‘Guardians’ band together and created their own legalised monarchy, allowing them to marry the human royalty, have children and in turn form new species. Unfortunately the citizens of the lands were disgusted in these unions and rioted on the ‘Guardians’, slaughtering some of the Hybrid children. Soldiers of the monarchy left their posts and joined other Pureblood royal families.
The royals of the Hybrids’ were desperate and in ruin, their lands a mass of devastation and bloodshed so with much regret the families of the Hybrids together joined together and passed a law that any Hybrid born in the lands and any rank had to be sent away to live forever in ‘The Outlands’, never to return into the human realm.
And so both humans and ‘Guardians’ alike built towns and camps in the barren landscapes of ‘The Outlands’. They placed human overseers in the towns and built a large wall on the border in ensure that no Hybrid would ever be able to leave the land. After five years of building the towns were ready to be populated. The Hybrids were taken away from their families, some willingly, others forcefully. Eventually with the removal of the Hybrids brought civilians and soldiers back into the lands of deserted royals and the lands returned as normal.
For centuries the humans and ‘Guardians’ lived within the law and gave their Hybrid children up to the soldiers which placed them in ‘The Outlands’ thinking that they’d be better off with other Hybrids but that wasn’t so. When a Hybrid was first brought to the land at the age of three they had all their oddities are removed such as tails, horns etc. And they were sent to work mining substances such as coal or precious stones from the semi-volcanic lands. If the Hybrids do not mine enough during the day they do not eat or sleep until they do. It was a terrible and dirty secret that the monarchy kept to themselves for many years.
It was here in the mines that the twenty-year-old son of an ‘Ebony royal’, Qux, discovered an ancient underground temple. The walls of the temple described an ancient forgotten war of humans against the great Demon, Xzolholus. The walled described that King Octavius; the first King of Anum-Rosa beheaded Xzolholus and imprisoned her spirit in a silver goblet. It was said that from her blood that the gateway to Anum-Rosa had been created, however it was said that whoever had opened the gateway family was forever cursed. It was said the Octavius, the goblet, his family and his army entered the gateway but as they did they could never return to their world. The legend stated that Octavius had appointed each one of his seven generals the leaders of seven divided lands while he as agreed by the generals would have the eighth land and the largest for his family. For many decades Octavius and his children built and ruled the lands of Anum-Rosa, until one winter when they and the citizens that dwelled in the eighth land disappeared without a trace.
Intrigued Qux continued to search the temple of the many different stories and legends of the lands. Eventually Qux came to a stone door marked with the words ‘Destruction awaits world which awakens us’. Curiously Qux entered the room. Within lay the sleeping sons and daughters of King Octavius in open stone coffins, their appearances unchanged since the day they disappeared. Towering over the coffins lay a great obsidian black dragon, slumbering, and its tail curled around a stone Roman pillar while in its hand rest a silver cup. The voices of other Hybrids alerted Qux to stop his exploring but not before taking the cup from the dragon’s great paw.
For almost a year Qux kept the cup hidden from the eyes of his human overseers until one night during a raid of his roommate’s stuff they discovered it. The overseers thinking it was stolen from one of their own cabins attempted to take it, however the quick Half-Draconic Qux grabbed it back off the overseers and ran off with it. Pursued for about an hour by the overseers Qux decided to give up his run and his cup, but not to the overseers. When the overseers caught him Qux tossed the silver cup into the old dry town well.
Qux was sent to stay in prison for a month after the ordeal. Strangely while he was in prison all the towns water supplies to dry up mysteriously, however with even more strangeness the old well began to overflow with water, it was like all the water from the other wells were being diverged in to the old well. With no other choice the Hybrids began to drink from the old well.
The well’s water tasted just like any other water if not better yet odd side-effects started to take hold. The once humble but beaten down Hybrids grew vicious. They began to despise the human overseers with a passion and refused to work in the mines. When they were punished they turned vicious and started riots. Eventually one Hybrid managed to kill an Overseer which opened a whole new doorway to the Hybrids.
Corrupted by the water the Hybrids killed and tortured the overseers, impaling their heads on spikes. Qux who was still in prison had thought that he had been abandoned by the humans was completely oblivious to the outside slaughter until a large group of bloodstained Hybrids released him from his cell and brought him outside to the well. The Hybrids told him that they had heard voice in their head calling his name and telling him that he was to be the new General of the Army of Xzolholus.
Frightened and overwhelmed by the Hybrids Qux refused. The other Hybrids who were angered by Qux’s refusal trapped him and forced him to his knees where they made him drink the water from the retrieved silver cup. Soon within a few minute the noble Qux had become as cruel and vicious as the others.
Within a few days the relevantly Hybrid Army managed to break down ‘The Outland’ wall and head toward ‘The Castle Noir’ where they were joined by the Armies of the ‘Guardians’. The Guardian armies had found out about what had happened for centuries in ‘The Outlands’ and were disgusted by the humans and Royal ‘Guardians’ for letting that happen to their children. With the combine Armies of both Hybrids and Guardian’s the two plunged the lands into an eternal war slaughtering the Royals of both human and Guardian alike. It was then like a like a Phoenix rising from the fires of war that a Great Black Dragon descended to the land calling the world below ‘Hither me not, I came to this place of green, Did thy mind not slumber? Forevermore I summoned to the end of this land, for ‘Here Be Dragon’s forevermore!’
