The white is starting to prick at your eyes and your skin is burning, just like your throat. She's so close, but you must take your time in taking out the other ones, too. They weren't torturers, just ... Apprentices, you could say. But sacrifices must be made and unfortunately they are the ones in your way. You're under the cloth of the table almost immediately, zipping around almost invisble - they can't register your speed. Above, you imagine the scene of humans in white lab-coats, when suddenly a pale hand wraps around one of the 'apprentices' and they disappear from sight noiselessly. The others continue working, unaware of what just happened.
Ahh ... That's better. The fire in your throat is quenched, but not the one in your heart. You work through all of them and approach the final ... scientist ... The one who tortured you for hours and hours on end. You know her/his work means a lot to the human world, but you obviously don't care. She asks for a bottle from a non-existent apprentice and when no one responds she whips around to face you. A grin spreads across your face as you toy with the bottles on the rack.
"Is that purple, or green? Or ... Would you just like me to hurry up?" The sound of a test-tube smashing on the floor is nothing compared to the screams of pain that follow.

They call you a threat to society. Well, let's just say that's a bit over-dramatic ... You've been around for centuries and centuries; why is that so hard to grasp? Yeah, okay, sometimes you make a mistake when it comes to picking up some food, but that's only occasionally. And there's not very many of your type ... Shouldn't you be protected - not tortured? Oh well, it's too late now. You escaped their laboratories and fled home, warning your friends of the horrible creatures humans have become. Afterwards, you returned to hunt down your 'scientist'. You had to sacrifice others to kill her/him, but it doesn't matter, does it?
Anyway, it's too late to try and bargain with the humans. There were originally only twenty scientists in the world working on you and others ... Apparently their work is largely important to the rest of the world. Too bad ... Now, thanks to you and some others, there are only four left. Four torturers alive. Your mission - I guess - is to wipe them out, but I recommend letting each of your peers kill their own torturer - it's much, much more satisfying. It'll teach the humans for hurting you even though they claimed to be helping you and your fellow pure vampires.
As if.

уσυя נσв ιѕ тσ ρяσтєcт - ησт ℓσνє.

They took you in with others; your own peers and the other ... more dangerous ... creatures. You have extraordinary skills, the ups of being half human and the ups of being half vampire. You have incredibly sharp senses, abnormal strength/speed and you're not vulnerable to vampire weaknesses. Sounds perfect right? Well, perfection means nothing in the situation you're in. The humans deemed you and your rare kind as the opposite of threats - they use you as security for their prestigious scientists. Basically, ever since most of the scientists working on vampires and dhampirs disappeared, you and other dhampirs have been assigned to guard individual scientists. You're kind of undercover; humans can't physically identify you as a dhampir, so you have to keep low, but still keep a close eye over your scientist. Should you fail and something happens to him or her, you will banished, they say. Of course, you've heard varying versions of a ... painful ... failure, since the vampires need to clean up any evidence left or loose-ends.
Now, to add a whole new concept to this mess, you've managed to trip over your own feet and fall in love. Maybe with your human, or, perhaps in a love triangle between your human and another vampire ... Or dhampir. I don't know, everyone's different but let's just say you're forbidden from getting up to something with a human. They are free to have their own affairs with other humans - I've heard some are even married - but not with supernatural creatures like yourself. We don't want anything happening, okay?

ιƒ уσυ кєєρ cαℓм, мαувє ωє'ℓℓ αℓℓ ℓινє.

Image
You work for the government as a scientist. Specifically, you and 19 others were working secretly on strange creatures who crave blood. Well, the vampires do. The dhampirs? They're not so bad. In fact, you've heard an organisation is using them for security and protection. If only that was for you, because the fact most of your other co-workers have been found dead - presumed killed by vampires - means that they must be counting down the four scientists left for supper.
Anyway, moving on. You've noticed this guy or this girl around, maybe you've got their number and occasionally text. You're just friends, but maybe - in some cases - you think they feel a bit more than friendship. Is that strange? Can you return those feelings? Or, as far as your concerned, you've developed a relationship with someone else. Another human? Supposedly.
But hear me out; the fact you can't distinguish human between vampire means you could be in some deep trouble now. My advice; just stay calm, stay preferably low and maybe we'll get out of this alive - I mean, you are the key to whole thing, right?

• The Rules •

Postby Thing One » Sat Dec 15, 2012 11:42 am

тнє яυℓєѕ.

All of Tess' rules apply.

Literacy
This is semi-literate. My expectation is a sturdy paragraph, or about ... Ten lines. More or less, that's just an around-about number. I understand the rare occasion when you get Writer's Block, but I've only ever used that excused genuinely once or twice, so I don't give way for users who are always using that excuse. I don't mind if you have to ramble a little bit about the scenery, or exaggerate slightly. (:

Characters
You can only have one character. I know this means we are going to need about nine-eleven different players to join, but at least if someone quits, we will only need to fill up one role. I may change this rule if necessary ... Remember no Gary/Mary Sues.

Everything else
Do not post your forms on this thread straight away; you are free to make reservations, but afterwards you must message me your form first so I can accept you. Do not argue, rules are rules.
Please do not join and then leave. Again, you must be very committed otherwise the whole role-play will fall down; every player is vital to the plot, so you need to be loyal. You also need to be active, but I understand school and holidays etc. If you can post once a day, brilliant. If you do better on some days then others, that's fine. Whatever suits you. (:
Use your common sense - don't argue with me or mini-mods [May or may not pick one, don't ask], I don't expect bitter language OOC etc. You know the roll.
Your posts need to be neat; I don't mind if they've just got a name in large letters then your post [you can go all out if you wish, just no images] because I can understand the time it takes for posting. (: When speaking OOC [out Of Character] make sure you've made it clear you are doing so. Brackets, Ooc: etc.
This is random, but I would like it if everyone used 'small' text. Not expectation, just preference - I personally think it's tidier. (:

Consequences
I will not have a strike system, but will notify you every time you break a rule. If I decide you are not co-operating easily enough, I will ask you to remove yourself from the role-play but, yeah ... You'll probably be able to get out of being kicked out because ... Well, it would be difficult to replace your spot quickly so the whole role-play would be halted and ... Let's just say things would get out of hand. /:

Characters available:

This is just an explanation about vampires and dhampirs, though I will include a statement on the scientists' schedules/life-style etc. at the bottom. This is my definition on vampires and dhampirs - not necessarily based on tradition or a book/movie - which means you must read these next few paragraphs to get an idea of what these creatures actually are and what they will be throughout the role-play. Thanks.

тнє нυηтєяѕ - ναмριяєѕ [Full]
Weaknesses - Sunlight will burn; not kill. Luckily, in the small town the scientists are situated, there is not a lot of sun, especially this time of year.
Similar to sunlight, a lot of things will burn you. In fact, even white rooms can be a strain on your pale skin ... You were born to live in the cold. Try to avoid bright, hot things.
Obviously, you crave blood. Like a human with water, you cannot survive without it, whether it be animal blood or human blood.
Yes, you can be killed by a stake to the heart. However, your main concern when it comes to wooden stakes are dhampirs - they are not vulnerable to that kind of thing but still have the strength and speed of vampires. Watch out for them.
Anything else not listed here is either a myth or possibly a strength. (:

Strengths - Well, all vampires can reach abnormal speeds compared to other creatures, including animals. Also, you are not worn out by using your physical body - only bright, hot objects do that.
You also have incredible 'super-strength', but nothing too outrageous. You could probably drag around a car or perhaps even a bus, but a train might be pushing it. Of course, that's not usually what you have your strength for ...
Yes, you are amazingly beautiful. You have diamond-hard pale skin and at some points blood-red eyes, but that only enhances your beauty. And then, there's something else about you which draws in humans ... Hypnotically. They don't realise what's happening, most of the time.
Your fangs will kill. Remember that. If someone's giving you trouble - even a dhampir - if you can get your teeth into their neck, it's all over. Oh - and you can only turn humans into vampires. Dhampirs will simply die, so don't waste your blood on them ...
Every vampire has a unique special ability. Nothing major like immortality against all ways of death, unfortuantely, but vampires possess minor 'powers' which assist in swift killing or ways of defence. Use them wisely. [When making a choice on your ability, please message me about it first so I confirm it isn't too ... miraculous ... That will set you at an unfair advantage.]

тнє ѕєcυяιту - ∂нαмριяѕ
Summary - You are half-vampire, half-human. You live a normal human life, mortal, until you are fully matured. You will stop growing around the physical age of eighteen, though sometimes a little later or earlier, depending on your growth and maturity. From then onwards you like a vampire life, minus the physical weaknesses and 'special ability'.
Your life is only possible by having a vampire dad and a human mum. You look like a human but have the strengths of a vampire. You seem perfect on the outside, since you aren't vulnerable to human or vampire weaknesses, but actually, after being discovered by humans, life becomes ... Harsh. You're never put off duty, always undercover protecting a human - who's completely unaware of your 'mission' - from creatures very like yourself.
You know everything about this scientist - the vampire who is most likely hunting them down, all their basic details, their general character and more significant points about their life. Your main mission is to protect them, as explained in the plot but this doesn't mean fall in love ... Of course, that's what ends up happening and you'll become twisted into a difficult mess of love triangles.
You also know a lot about vampires. As stated above, you know all their strengths and their weaknesses; the advantages they have over you and the advantages you have over them. It's pretty simple, when you're half-vampire - you know about half of what they're like and can always match their strength and speed. Now, tie that knowledge into how you choose to guard your scientist. Usually, most dhampirs just become friends with them and keep a close eye on them at all times.
Now, there's only one other species left to consider - your own kind. Very rare - there are more vampires over dhampirs - which makes it harder on you. All you know is that you have the advantages of humans and the advantages of vampires, minus the hypnotic beauty. The only thing is, everything else - your history, your family, your personal character - seems a little misty ... Maybe meeting a vampire will help you gain a bit of knowledge on yourself.

тнє нυηтє∂ - нυмαηѕ
Well ... There's not much else to say here; you read the first section under the plot, which is where pretty much everything is revealed. You live with your three remaining work-mates in a large 'family-home' five to ten minutes out from central town. It's quite big as it used to house ten of you, but obviously the numbers have ... Dramatically decreased in the past few weeks.
Every day, despite the fact you have finished experimentation on the abnormal creatures, you get up at about six in the morning, get ready for work and head into town at about seven. You continue sorting through the samples of DNA of vampires and dhampirs, comparing the different tubes and completing other scientific procedures. Anyway, not to worry about that guy waiting for you out the back; he's totally not a dhampir keeping an eye out for vampires who have you in their sights to kill you and make it hurt.

I expect you to use your own form. If you desperately need one, message me and I'll provide one for you.

Please make your forms 'fancy' and detailed. I will not accept anything boring and short - this is semi-literate. Do I need to state you must include the basics and the more detailed sections? If your form is considerably 'fancy and detailed', you will probably already have those sections.
Make reservations on this thread, but don't post your forms straight afterwards - message them to me first so I can check your literacy and make sure your character fits etc. Reservations last a few days, but I will be fairly flexible.

introduce yourself. well ... i guess i'll start with my name. i'm basil christopher alden. i'm taking a guess; you're confused by my first name? so am i. the meaning of basil is 'royal, kingly' and i believe it is of greek origin. i'm not too sure how my parents came to give it to me but ... yea, anyway - i bet you don't care.
erm, i hope i didn't bore you with that ... moving on; my age. i'll tell you this much - my birthday is on the fifth of august and, if you want to be exact, from 6:49 in the morning. i'm twenty years of age, which i guess makes sense in most ways ... i just don't feel twenty. well, obviously - being part vampire i stopped aging many years ago ... i've actually been alive for one-hundred and eighty-two years, but i stopped maturing at twenty years. i was originally born in london but have come to settle here in moonville ...
i am male, in case you hadn't noticed. though, i could understand the mishap because my name can be ... foreign to most, in some ways. but i certainly do not look female. i hope.
you want a character summary? i view myself as a boring kind of guy, but i've heard other descriptions ... in the very least i'm quite serious and sometimes that can be a downfall. i can pull a few jokes when i'm in the mood but otherwise i stick to the task and get it done.
well, i guess that's it for introductions and me ... nice meeting you.

take a look in the mirror. i'll start big and go into smaller details gradually. i'm quite tall with broad shoulders and an overall sturdy build. yea ... i'm quite strong, but nothing abnormal. i have a bit of a tan and let's just say i'm not normally burnt in the sun, thankfully - my skin is quite hard and strong.
i have blue-ish gray eyes. They will look more greeny at times - like the ocean - but generally a blue-gray. moving on; i have short-ish spiked light brown hair. sometimes i will die it, but not bright colours like green or pink ... sometimes a darker brown or silver. anything else? my clothing style!? um ... just modest clothing i can easily move around in and feel comfortable in. i think that's it.

strengthened in. Well ... Humans are unaware of Basil's dhampiric nature ... They just see him as a good-looking guy with admirable physical skills. Let's just say he can't claim his unnatural speed and strength all by himself. Basil's also fairly smart for a dhampirs and can think himself out of messy situations ... Unless it's socially. That's where he sucks at being the leader.
Inwardly, Basil is determined and loyal, though that would be about it - he's not really the family kind of guy, so no warm smiles or encouragement from him.

weakened by. Let's just say should there be a practical social ladder, he'd be hanging off the broken rung at the end, not really trying to fight his way back up. Kind of. He's not really the one to socialise or crack good jokes all the time ... Rather, he prefers to work alone and keep to himself. Physically, he doesn't have too many imperfections ... Except when it comes to swimming. Basically, Basil loves the rain but's scared out of this world of deep, white water - he can't swim and isn't willing to learn how.

explain yourself. "no way."
Basil is a very serious, down-to-earth guy. He doesn't usually muck around in meaningless arguments which waste precious time. He tends to work alone in a variety of tasks he chooses not to share with others. He isn't one to deliberately make jokes, but sometimes he'll spin a twist on something; cheeky, but not altogether the funny kind of guy. I guess that's what makes him partially friendly, but still able to slip by as a serious type.
That's on the surface ... And "deep within"; he's not that much different, but I guess you could say once you get to know him he's a little more friendly. Basil does have a romantic side, though, which rarely shows it's face. Just ... I recommend you don't try to stir anything up in him; romance is not recommended in his case.
Oh and I mustn't forget - don't anger him. He is incredibly strong and finds it difficult to channel his anger/frustration in one particular direction ... You don't want to get in his way. He will build up towards the tip of the knife before finally letting it all out in one blow; there's another weakenss. Sometimes Basil just ... Can't stay under control of himself. Fortunately, this is fairly uncommon and probably won't affect you.

Image
"Oh God, that's horrible. And she... she just let it happen?"
"She. But I didn't."
"Tell me, tell me you beat the crap out of him."
"I did."
"Wow. You beat up your dad. I mean, that's really horrible ...
what happened. But, wow. You really are a god."
"What?"
"Uh, nothing."

back-track a little. "okay. so you're actually expecting me to casually discuss my history with you? are you crazy or something? that's something that belongs to me and will only ever be fully known by me."
Basil has quite a cold past. I guess we start where everything else starts; his birth. He was born on the fifth of August, 1992, but you already know that. At the time, his mother was staying in a small apartment along a busy street in London. After Basil was born, his mum took him to a smaller town outside of London, mainly out of confusion and distress. This was where he was brought up.
His mother never quite knew what was wrong. He was always thought to be “different” and the other kids never fully accepted him. The connection he shared with his mother was cold and harshly unaffectionate. She didn’t love him. That’s the bottom line. And because of this, Basil eventually accustomed to the state of being unloved, never expecting much more than shelter and food.
He attended a small school where, yet again, no one liked him. Even though he excelled in some aspects of learning, Basil was never praised for his efforts and no one – not even the teachers – appreciated him.
Eventually, Basil was able to get himself out of that miserable place, away from his mother and out into the world. It was very rare for him to bump into another ... unnatural ... creature like himself. However, after coming across the small town of Moonville - and meeting many other vampires and dhampirs there - he settled down, blending in with the humans, despite the fact he knew it's be very bad if he was discovered.
I guess you know what happened next.
They found him, along with several others like him and took him to a lab where they asked him many, many questions, took tests and experimented on him. Thankfully, the work on dhampirs wasn't painful like it was to the vampires - they were tortured endlessly and became cold and threatening towards the humans. Basil himself thought the scientists were a little too ... Careless, expecially after they all escaped.
That was when the Govenrment finally deemed him and 19 others safe and even a help to society. Basil was told to protect a specific scientist and has succeeded so far. Though, with the fact the number of living scientist has dramatically decreased, Basil has come to realise his life is on the line, after seeing what happens to those who fail ...
It's a cold, cruel world.

15 Dec. 2012
The role-play has been created and submitted.
All male dhampirs have been taken.

21 Dec. 2012
All vampires have been taken, there a three remaining spots.
Announcement - I am going to be away for the upcoming holidays and will need to choose a mini-mod. I just realised this is going to be very difficult, as I will actually be away for a long time. If you are an experienced member, please message me why you think you should be the "official" mini-mod of the role-play and I will consider you. Or perhaps we will get all the characters together, then start in three weeks time -ish. I will create a poll, please vote so I can make a decision before I leave.

03 Jan. 2013
Okay so, we have begun role-playing. I realise some players do not have a human to guard/hunt yet ... I do apologise. If you are going to quit, please message me. /:
Just begin by preparing for the day. Scientists need to head to their lab and dhampirs/vampires need to follow. If possible, try to keep it a mystery through your posts who you're hunting, though keep in mind the scientists can recognise who they experimented on. (:

• Moonville - Town Description •

Postby Thing One » Sat Dec 15, 2012 11:51 am

The role-play takes place in a small town named Moonville. A fairly straight-forward name - yes - but it reflects a twisted legendary history of vampires and other supernatural creatures of the night that supposedly roam the area. I won't get into too much detail, but the scientists do work in Moonville because, in fact, there are vampires specifically attracted to this place. And dhampirs. Obviously, it's because of the cloudy atmosphere that often drapes over the town, veiling the sun and it's burning rays.

Image
Image
[Above] Located in central town, informally known as The Vampire Hangout ... Of course, this park is generally vampire-free as the sun will burn them during the day and there's not a lot of shelter. It's really just called Moonville Park, to be boring and uncreative. It's fairly large and there's just a few paths twisted through the area.
Image

[Above] The old Church on the outskirts of town. A good place for meeting up and is well-known by everyone in town. For the 'elders' it's thought to be a safe haven from vampires - of which it isn't. Dhampirs will meet there occasionally, but the scientists stick to flasher buildings in town.
[On the Right] Your average street in the middle of town ... There are usually street-lights everywhere in central town, but in the smaller, older parts lights may or may not have been installed. Um, I recommend you humans keep away from those place; you don't know what kind of creatures lurk around there. Where it's dark and deserted, there's usually vampires.
[Below] The two buildings where the scientists work undercover. Not very many townsfolk are aware of the torturous work that goes on these buildings, but these are the two buildings the scientists work in - one for the study of dhampirs [the one on the right] and the other one - which is slightly larger for experimenting on vampires. There is not a lot of technological security, so vampires who are hunting down humans don't need to worry about breaking through electric fences or anything ...
