Many years ago, in a town similar to this, there was a growing generation of nobility; the children were all rotten, mean, horrible people, but such was society at the time. That very year started the tradition of the yearly Masquerade ball. All the young nobles from the most influential families were invited to attend the party at the mansion on the hill. The ladies, and even the gentlemen, wasted no time in demanding the finest masks, made of silk and jewels and all manner of expensive things. Their parents spared nothing, acquiring the finest of materials for their children, all the better to escape their wrath. When the night of the ball arrived, the great mansion was a sight to see. Ladies with masks sewn of diamonds, rubies, feathers, silk, and all manner of beautiful things; men, mysterious in their simple but elegant guises, all were ushered into the party. A night of dancing and merriment commenced, but little did the guests known that their happiness would soon be interrupted. As the clock struck midnight, the candles were extinguished, earning screams of frightened amusement from the ladies, and even some of the men. Those playful screams quickly turned to screams of terror as the grand masks adhered to the skin of the partygoers. Others screamed in pain as tails, wings, horns, grew; all the better to match their new selves. A voice was heard, telling the partygoers to change their ways within a year, and their masks would once again be just that: masks. The young nobles left the party in shame, scarves and hoods covering their faces. They tried to run, tried to hide, but somehow situations presented themselves, giving the nobles opportunity to better themselves. Some did, and they returned to their beautiful, albeit more pleasant, selves; others, though, did not change and were doomed to be set apart for the rest of their time among the living…

Every child knows this story in one of its variations. After all, it is a modern Beauty and the Beast. But, only our Chicago socialites know this version of the story. As one of these socialites, you have been invited to the party of the year, the annual Masquerade. As the child of the one of the wealthy, influential families of the city, it is imperative to make a stellar impression at this event. The night promises to be full of fun, dancing, drama, and maybe a little bit of romance!

The event, though differently themed every year, is always the same. Food, friends fun, generally in that order. But, this year it is different. All the young heirs and heiresses have heard the urban legend, but they thought it was just that: a legend. As the clock strikes 12, the lights go out, and 7 of the guests become the characters they have assumed for the night. Girls with angel themed masks suddenly are sprouting white, feathery wings, and men with splits masks suddenly have multicolored swirls twining up their hands and arms. Others receive minor punishments, but those 7 are the worst. A voice rings out, much as in the legend, telling the young adults to change their ways, lest they be stuck that way forever…

Humans vs Zombie Roleplay

~Basic Facts~

1. Zombies do not think or feel/ they operate on instinct only. They move in hoards usually, though occasionally one will wander ahead, trail behind, or wander too far to the side of the hoard.
2. A bite will turn you, a scratch will not. The virus is not airborne. No one is immune.
3. The squads are well trained but they are still college students, some arguments are to be expected but they will usually stick together no matter what.

Safety Precautions that the HvZ Squad should take in case of Zombie Outbreak

1. Sign onto the "Source", a website that the HvZ squad can communicate with all members at once. It can send out mass emails/text messages as well as private ones.
2. Grab some weapons from the armory which is located in North Campus beneath the main gymnasiums.
3. Activate the sound shield- The S.S is located at the top of the administration building(Central Campus) and generates a sound frequency that disrupts zombie brainwaves. It requires little power to run but falters during heavy winds/thunderstorms.
4. Head over to the labs (South Campus) where scientists are still working to develop a cure. There is a year's worth of food and water for twenty people, sleeping bags, and survival packs in the upper floors of this building.
5. Contact Riverside College (about 45 miles away) and see how they are holding up.

The Plot:

The people live in a normal town, some have a unique gift about them that they can turn into animals. They have lived in secret for years until one person slipped and transformed in front of a local hunter in a town a couple hundred miles away. The word spread through the town quickly and shapeshifter hunters from across the state flocked to that town for the chance to finally catch a live shapeshifter. Only a couple were caught before most of the shapeshifters settled in this town. While dealing with normal life and survival-- the shapeshifters of the town must now worry about the 'bounty hunters' after them. They have to stay low so they aren't recognized by regular humans and the bounty hunters don't realize where they are and aren't all over them in this new place.

Update-5.29.12: If a human gets bitten by a shapeshifter while the shapeshifter is in their animal form, guess what happens? Yepp, you guessed in. They become a shapeshifter, also known as 'The Changed'. A little cliche perhaps but that's how I want it to be:P The catch? There's two. The first, it has to be more than just "I bit you. Now be an animal!1!!1" No, the human has to be attacked by the shapeshifter. Like, severely so the human is on the verge of death. The second isn't so much of a catch although it could be considered one, depending on how it affects your character's situation. The first month or so after they've been attacked, the new shifter is "unstable." Constantly switching back and forth between forms with barely any control. This can be dangerous because if they're seen by another human, they might freak and tell someone and after word spreads, guess what'll happen? That's right: Bounty Hunters. Now take this information and do with it what you will ;)
Note: If some of your characters get attacked, keep in mind that not all of you can survive..

~Stuck Between Two Worlds~ An Everlost RP (Accepting)

The car crash was fatal with very few survivors. You remember to how the cars collided in a crunch of glass and metal. Sitting in the passenger's set, you were slowly pulled to the cracked windshield as if time had stopped. A boy around your age met your eyes. he was slowly moving to you from the other car. You closed your eyes as you met at the splintering glass. Then, you were running though a dark tunnel towards a bright light. You weren't sure what the bright light was, but you were mysteriously pulled to it. You herd someone’s footsteps behind you. You curiously turned to see who it was, but your feet stumble. You soon found yourself tumbling through the deep darkness of the surrounding walls. Now here you are, slowly opening your eyes on a leaf covered ground. Looking up, you see that the a face of a girl blocks the sky. Her short red hair dangles from her face and tries to hide her sparkling green eyes. She's smiling at you, happy you've awakened. "Welcome to Everlost," she greets you.

You are stuck between life and death in a world known as Everlost. In Everlost, the living world is viewed in a foggy haze by it's residents. The only thing that in clear focus are places and things that are "dead", destroyed in a past life. The ground of the living world is very unstable to people who live in Everlost, a.k.a Afterlights. Those who are not carful on living ground can easily sink through it to the center of the earth to be never seen again. Water is extremely in the ways it increases the sinking speed to only seconds. Everlost is a world full of kids ranging from nearly five to seventeen years of age. No adults have ever set foot is this land for reasons unknown. When an Afterlight first wakes up from it's nine-month sleep as a Interlight, they notice that they are admitting a weird light from their body. This is their afterglow, a light admitted from a Afterlight that sometimes can reflect their mood. They also realize that they can't take or alter what they are wearing. A person in Everlost forever remains in the clothes they died in. This includes necklaces, hairstyles or anything that happened to be on body. As an Afterlight spends time in their new, their past memories start to wade. Unless they are associated with a "criminal art", Afterlights can easily forget their past life in ways that can alter their appearance or personalities. In this strange world, new lessons are to be learned. It is now up to you what choices you will make and who you will meet along your journey. For in Everlost, nothing is as it seems.

•Plot•
In the Victoria era, there are nobles, peasants, royalty, barons, a whole variety of people, demons and angels included. They walk and live among us too. Most are oblivious to their prescence, and that is how it should be. There are a few people however, who have goals, most nearly impossible. They are the ones who acknowledge the demons' presences. Not only do they just acknowledge them, they seek their assistance in achieving their goals. The demons serve them and help as needed, taking the soul in return.

•Phantomhives•
Ciel Phantomhive runs his estate efficiently. He is usually accompanied by his demon butler, Sebastian and they hunt continuously to find the one who murdered his mother and father. With the aide of Sebastian he aims to successfully find them and take his revenge. There are many obstacles though and he must do so while maintaining the title of the Queen's guard dog.

•Trancys•
Alois Trancy, a young earl inheritted the Trancy estate when the previous owner was killed. He had forged a contract with the demon, Claude Faustus, to be there for him along with a few other goals. The Trancy household rivals the Phantomhive household.

•Wyses•
The Wyse Estate, known for their conflict with the previous Trancy Earl, now has a traitor lurking among them.The new head, a younger boy, less mature than Lord Phantomhive yet the same age has had all his families duties dumped on him, and he can't handle the pressure without some help, and therefore he made a contract. The Wyse boy also shares a contract with his guardian angel, who serves as his maid to keep quiet. She and his butler constantly duel over him.


•Holloways•
The Holloways, allies with the Wyses, also serve a sort of conflict with the current Earl of Trancy. The oldest of the Holloway children now has inheritted everything due to their being no male heirs. No cousins, brothers or friends. A male hadn't been born to her family in ages, but now that both her mother and father have been assassinated, and there being no other will, she has taken control. But being one of the few female noble family heads within a great distance she faces a lot of threats, therefore she had made a contract with a lowly demon.
