Griffon Leigh Quinn

Image

Basics

Username:
Infection.

Character Name:
Griffon Leigh Quinn

District:
District Three

Age:
Seventeen

Gender:
Female

Family:
Father; Zachary Quinn. {Deceased}
Mother; Harley Quinn. (pun intended.) {Living}
Siblings; Jack Quinn {Living} and Nicoal Quinn. {Deceased}

Friends:
None that she can recall.

Allies in arena:
None at the moment.

In-Depth

Personality: Griffon's personality varies extremely, to the point where it can be both annoying and confusing. For the most part, she's quite shy. She'd rather be by herself her whole life then be around a lot of people. When talking to people, she gets really nervous over stupid things. Things like what the person would think of her, how they would react to what she said, what would happen if she slipped up, if they thought she was weird, those kind of things. Though, if she sees someone who's sad she'd just love to give them a hug if she could. If she only could... She loves to comfort people, even though she doesn't really do it for herself. Griffon doesn't usually take her own emotions into account, and she's awful big-headed. Of course, she has an alternate side.

She has a tendency to be violent when her short temper gets out of hand. This is one of the reasons why she likes to be alone and away from contact in any way. Of course, she gets lonely, so eventually she has to come out of her shell at times. Of course, as most people are, she can be extremely negative about something, being able to think of a thousand reasons about how it could go wrong. To some, this comes in handy, to others, it's just annoying. Though, being negative and her violent tendencies are the end of the bad sides of her personality. You see, Griffon is a 'glass half full' person most of the time, except when she's being negative of course. Most of the time, she'd just cancel herself out and look like a hypocrite, so she often won't say anything.

Griffon tries to go by some wise words she's heard in her life, but that can be difficult with her... complicated personality. Her top one is "Don't worry about life, you won't escape is alive anyway." She's pretty good at following it, seeing she doesn't really worry about anything except other people. She loves animals too, but that's something she likes to hide. Griffon also takes interest in Mythology and Cryptozoology of all kinds, as well as history. This combines with her personality by giving her a rather smart-alec (sp?) way of talking when she's discussing this topics. She also takes her time to admire nature, since she finds it so fascinating and beautiful. She's rather geeky as well.

Appearance: Griffon has long straight hair, colored a dark/light red color. Here and there, the shades of red change and flow, depending on which way the sun hits it. Her eyes are a light blue color, and most people assume she's blind before they actually talk to her. Though, she's not blind, not a bit. Her skin is a pale white coloration, as she seems to have never been able to tan the way she had wanted to. Scrawny for her age, she ways at around 127 lb, and she stands at exactly 5'1. Griffon's eyebrows are a dark brown color with hints of red in it, and her lips are a default pink color. Not much is left to say about her appearance after this.

Backstory/History: Griffon's history is actually really simple. Before she was forced to the games, she had a happy life, for the most part. She spent most of her time caring for her grandparents and her disabled father, while her mother worked to pay off the taxes. She would also take care of her three pets, two dogs and a cat. Basically, she raised her younger brother after her older sister left. At school, she would simply just sit there and learn, not talk to anyone. Griffon was never the one to want to make friends, but of course some people did approach her, and she took a liking to them. Her friends and herself would have fun together for the most part, but only at school. She'd never invited one of them to her house, mostly because she was embarrassed of what they would think. A little while later, her grandparents passed away, taken by age. Soon, her father's life was taken due to cancer, her older sister taken due to a horrid case of malaria. Of course, her family had to overcome this and they soon began working together as a family to get things done. During her life, she studied varies things, such as technology, which her district represented, and other things that were either long forgotten or less known such as mythology and cryptozoology. Also trying to study up on herbs that may be useful to her, she had also taught herself how to fight and handle certain weapons.

Flaws: She's not entirely strong enough to hold up a weapon such as a large axe. Sadly, she's not entirely good with talking to others either, so persuading them to join her in an alliance wouldn't work out well.

Strengths: She's good with technology, as well as sneaking around and not being heard.

Preferred weapons: Bow & Arrow, distance is the best.

Skills & talents: A fast runner, as well as being skilled with most technology, a rather good aim. As well as a good climber.

Likes: Rainbows, family, nature, happiness, Cryptozoology, Mythology, history, animals, humor, music

Dislikes: Anger, sadness, jerks/bullies, water, clowns, pain

Fears: Water, she can't swim. She's also scared of spiders.

Clothing style: She likes baggy clothes, well, basically anything that's comfortable.

Strategy & tactics: Evade and hide, kill in silence and only when dark, keep low, don't attract attention.

Details

On a scale of one to ten, how fast on their feet is this character?: Nine; she's fast, real fast, but she still prefers walking unless she's needed to run.

How self-confident this character is on a scale of one to ten: Around eight; Griffon knows what she's doing, and she believes she could do anything. She's rather big-headed, if you could say that.

Likely or not likely to survive?: She thinks she is, though, she's probably to big-headed and stubborn to be likely to.

Did this character have training beforehand?: Yes and no. No official training, but she did train herself.

What skills, if any, did this character develop while in the training centre and arena?: She figured how to conceal and hide better then she had before, but nothing really beyond that. Camouflage improved a little, though.

Other information

Questions?: Where should I start? How? What point is everyone at?

Other: I haven't read the second and third book, but I'm pretty well informed on how the games are.
I also keep my account online all the time unless I restarted my computer, so I might not be online when I appear so.
Sorry my form is so lazy.

Taiven Baxter || District 4

Taiven looked at her blob like face through the glass as she spoke, a grin forming across his lips. "Of course. It's pretty hard to distort such raw beauty," he said, obviously referring to himself in mock conceit. Even he wasn't that conceited. He could be a little humble at times and this was one of those times when he could actually be a decent person. He had been so far, not too rude or anything. He had only seen Tally a few times along the beach or the streets and had hardly said a word to her, but getting to know her on the train he realized he rather liked her. At least, she was enjoyable to be around in his own opinion.

Tally sighed right on cue, the previously light mood dissipating in hardly more than a few seconds. He didn't know if she was thinking the same thing he was, but how could he kill her? How would he fare in the arena knowing that she could die? It was a horrible thing to think about, just horrible. How could he even think about that? Her death or possible death. Well, it was the Hunger Games they were going to be in. It would be sad , if she died before her, seeing her face and their district number in the sky. It would mean she was dead, left to be shipped back to the district for her family and friends to mourn over her death. It would be horrible for him. Hearing what Tally was saying, a large frown formed across his reddening face because of the blood rushing to his head. "Yeah," he sighed.

The lighter mood between them gone, Taiven flopped back onto the love seat in some sort of laying position before sitting up. He didn't use much coordination in that obviously, but he didn't care. He wasn't showing off. What she said next caught him off guard. Suddenly he found himself wanting to leave the room. What could you say to that? He leaned in close to the coffee table, closer to her with his elbows resting on his knees and his fists propping his head up by resting beneath his jaw. "I don't know, but think of all the fish who would celebrate my death if they knew I died. One less person fishing for them to be eaten. Who wouldn't party?" he asked, a smile humored forming across his face at his own expense.

Kaia Kahler || District 10

First up was her parents, both of them. Lucky for her, they both seemed to be controlling themselves, particularly her mother whose eyes were red and puffy from crying earlier. She offered them a weak smile and they discussed unimportant things for a while until they were telling each other how much they loved each other. They shared a hug before her parents left. Shortly after them, her small group of friends and..Rumen. She avoided looking at him, wondering what he was even doing there. Lucky for her, he stayed off to the side. Her friend cried and she fought hard not to cry with them. They said their goodbyes and her friends left early. That left Rumen who just stood where he had been standing for a long moment. She only stared back at him, wondering why he didn't just leave if he didn't want to talk to her. She didn't want him in there because she could hardly help but tear up.

The long moment of silence seemed to drag by like hours until finally he walked up to her. "Well?" she finally asked in the strongest voice she could manage. It was rather weak and even broke in the middle of the word. She swallowed hard as he approached her. What happened next was unexpected. He took her by the shoulders and he..he kissed her. It wasn't too long she was sure, but it seemed to drag on like the silence between them. Not because she wasn't enjoying it, but all of the confused thoughts going around in her head distracted her. Why was he doing this? He didn't even say anything! When she last seen him before being taken into the Justice building he seemed to have cared less about her being up there. It didn't make any since.

Her arms stayed locked to her side the entire time in her shock and when he pulled back her hands flew up to her own face to cover it as two sobs choked her up. She wiped her tears away and looked up at him, brown eyes glossy with her tears and filled with confusion as he still held onto her shoulders. His tone was frantic, desperate when he talked. She had to win, he said. If she died he didn't know what he would do. He'd work extra hard on the ranch. Whatever she did she needed to survive for her family..for him. Why didn't she know the felt like this before? It was horrible but wonderful to figure out at the same time. She nodded meekly after he finished talking and she suddenly laughed as more tears streamed down her face. "Okay," she said through her laughter and crying before she threw her arms around him in a hug that he returned.

The embrace was short lived when Rumen was the one to pull away. "I have to go," he said in his mature voice. She didn't have time to tell him to wait before he spoke again. "Really," he said before he took her face in his hands and kissed her forehead. With that he turned and hurried out of the door. She was left alone again, tears still streaming down her face. She smeared them away from her eyes as the fell, able to control them decently as she was escorted by two Peacekeepers to a car. She was hardly aware of it, though, her thoughts on Rumen. All that time she didn't need to worry about talking to him. Good thing she did. She was lucky she didn't know him better.

The car ride to the Capitol train was short and her eyes were still red. This wouldn't look good, she guessed. She needed to look tougher, right? Oh well. She soon found herself in the train, standing alone in the luxurious looking room. She assumed Alejandro would be in the train with her soon. She didn't want to see him, but she didn't know where to go. She took a place beside the door and leaned against the wall before sliding down it until she was sitting, her knees brought up to her chest. Maybe he wouldn't notice her.

(( xD. I'm not one for a lot of romance, but it somehow seemed fitting for Kaia to me. ))

She wanted to kick herself after realizing what she had said. Stupid, stupid Tally! In her mind, she replied to his statement; she wouldn't party.

The thought of possible death terrified her. How could she possibly kill anybody in that damned place? How could she possibly survive? The other tributes were sure to be bigger, stronger than her - but that wouldn't stop her. She was determined to survive. If that meant forming an alliance, she would. But the thought of joining up with the Careers bugged her. They weren't exactly nice people; but, she knew that District Four nearly always had Career tributes. Well, maybe she'd just have to break that tradition, she reasoned.

"Getting a little too cocky now, hun." she chuckled quietly. She paused, shut her eyes for a moment, before allowing them to flicker open again. "It's just..." she frowned, "I don't want to be their puppet. If I'm going to.. die.. I wanna be my own puppeteer. I want to still be me." her eyes cast over towards Taiven again, "Does that make sense?"

She wanted nothing more than to get off the train and run right back to District Four. But that was foolish and impractical. She was their tribute now, and she had to accept it, whether she liked it or not.

Taiven Baxter || District 4

He watched Tally's expression change. In her eyes, he could tell that she was angry with herself like she had regretted what she had said. Maybe it just slipped out of her, but, truth be told, he didn't mind that much that she had said it. I had caught him off guard at first and he didn't know how to reply, but at least he was able to come up with something beside saying 'I don't know." That would have been stupid to say and he would have felt bad afterwords. It would have left him felling..sad, he guessed. It just seemed bad to leave of saying 'I don't know." It was like there was no hope. At least, saying what he did made him feel a bit better, but he didn't know about Tally. She didn't seem to respond much to it, but to him, at least, it made him feel like his death wouldn't be that bad knowing that the fish would probable celebrate his death if they knew he died.

His gaze had shifted to the table through his black eyelashes in his own thoughts until Tally spoke rather quietly. He shifted his eyes to look up at her, realizing that she had said it to herself. He was about to let his gaze return to the table when she spoke again, this time loud enough for him to reason she was speaking to him. He didn't look up at her immediately this time, listening to her that way until she mentioned the word puppet. Interested, he looked up at her and listed to her finish up what she was saying. No, he didn't understand. His face contorted into a scowl at the idea. He shook his head. "No," he answered without hesitation, sliding off of the love seat and onto his knees, his elbows resting on the coffee table. He tilted his head back a bit to look at her.

"That's stupid," he said. "Haven't you realized by now that we aren't ourselves? Especially on this train as tributes," he said with a certain amount of disgust in his tone. "It's like..Well, to keep it simple, we've always been their puppets and we'll die their puppets. It would be that way even if we weren't on this train," he explained his own reasoning, his eyes locked on her until that point. He looked down at the floor before he turned himself sideways and laid down on it, using his arms to prop his head up with his knees bent up as he said, "It would be hard to escape the hand of your ventriloquist."

She shrugged. "I'm not their puppet. They don't own me. I just want to prove that; and all we gotta do is cut the strings." she said whispered, unsure if he had even heard, turning round and bringing her knees close to her face. She was lost in her thoughts for a few moments, before returning her attention to Taiven. "We're off to be trained in the art of survival. But you know what? I'm already there. I am a survivor. I survived. And if to continue surviving means killing others, then I don't want to be a survivor anymore. I don't want to be the victor if I got there by cheating others into death. Don't get me wrong - I want to survive. I just want to do it my way: not theirs. I don't want to become a murderer, even if murder boosts my chances of survival. What's the point of survival if you live on with guilt?"

What if one of them were the first to die? Worse, what if it came down to them, in the final two? She mentally shivered at the thought. Would he kill her if it meant survival? Would she kill him if it meant survival? It terrified her, the thoughts, that it could all be possible.

She told herself that she wouldn't murder anybody - but those were just words, that was all. Meaningless words. Would she say the same things when she entered the Arena? Somehow, she was unsure; she knew that a human's instinct was to survive.
