~Todd~

Todd saw Mariah's weird reaction as he spoke. She gritted her teeth and looked away for a minute before turning back to him. She suddenly snapped at him defensively though, saying that she just knew how it felt, and that she had been a loner before. 'There's something that she isn't telling though because she was so defensive' he decided. He knew that he wouldn't get anything out of her though so he let it go for now. He would ask her when they had developed a friendship...if they did anyway. He wasn't sure if that would be possible based on her reactions so far. Mariah went on to say that she hadn't wanted for the other kemonomimi to appraoch her, preferring to be alone, a piercing glare aimed at Alex, Clowesia, and Zach.

Suddenly, Mariah yawned and Todd realized that he too was quite tired, although he didn't yawn. Mariah pulled her knees up and laughed lightly, and said that it was to lighten the mood. Once again, Todd thought he noticed that she said it defensively, but he couldn't even imagine why. 'Perhaps she just isn't good around other people...but why?' he pondered briefly. She almost confirmed his thoughts by cracking her knuckles and going on to say that the happiness would fade soon and that she thought this year would be terrible. "Sadly, I think you're probably right. I hate to break it to everyone else, but humans are just not nice. The vast majority of them are heartless and cruel, and they were forced to share this school with us" he ranted, bitterness lacing his tone.

~Alexandria~

Alex looked over at Zach, noticing him grining. She looked away a moment later, but out of the corner of her eye, she thought she noticed his eyes darting between herself and Clowesia almost calculatively.

'Could he have noticed the way I acted towards Clowesia?' she thought as an unusual feeling crept over her. 'What if he realizes that...that I like her' she asked herself as her cheeks began to flush a bit, suddenly feeling self-conscious again. In all of her past experiences, never once did she care if someone else knew if she liked someone, but this time, for some reason, this was not the case and she was feeling extremely insecure because of it.

[Clowesia]

Clowesia, completely oblivious to Alex's blushing or Zach's wondering gaze simply stood there, quietly lost in thought. So completely detached for reality, she couldn't help but give a jump as the double doors leading to the room they were in, slammed open to reveal Mr. Bennett "Ah! I hope we all got along nicely, hmm? I hope you've all made friends with each other!" He finished, laughing jovially, "Right!" He cried, rubbing his hands together, "It's time for you all to head off to bed, so if you'll follow me, I'll lead the way!" He called, turning around and waddling off. Clowesia, already knowing that Mr. Bennett wouldn't wait for them, scurried off afterward. "Here," Mr Bennett cried, throwing his arm off to the side revealing a towering door, vines, flowers and trees etched into it's surface, "is the door to the back garden! It's very beautiful, but very unkempt!" He huffed, before he gave a cry as they reached the lobby of the house. He turned sharply and began to walk up the large, old staircase, it's red carpet trimming having faded and worn away over it's vast years of service.

As they reached the second floor, Mr Bennett turned down several hallways, Clowesia just knew she would get lost in, before they finally arrived at another set of huge, double doors. "This is where you'll all be sleeping!" Mr Bennett called before flinging open the doors. On the other-side of those doors, was a huge, cavernous space that Clowesia would have guessed to have once been an exceedingly large living room. But it was what held occupancy in the room that had her jaws unhinging. A large screen split the room in two, and on each side were several beds; four on the right, three on the left.

They would all be sleeping in the same room.

With a huff, Mr. Bennett begun his explanation of the situation. "Sadly, we do have rooms, but they are in such foul condition you would surely freeze to death or become so sick you would be unable to attend class. So, you girls will sleep on the right, the boys on the left." Mr Bennett huffed, pointing to each side as he said it before he shuffled further into the room; with a wave of his hand he drew everyone's attention the the two, separate doors at the end of the room. "These will be your bathing facilities. They each have showers, baths, sinks, toilets and mirrors!" He finished with a clap. "Well, that's everything! I expect you all to be changed, in bed with the lights off in thirty minutes, goodnight!" he finished, closing the door behind them all with a slam.

Clowesia could do nothing but stand there, mouth aghast.

'They expect me to get naked in the same room as guys?!'

Zacharias

Zach glanced at Alex's blush and looked at her for a moment, but said nothing. Then Mr. Bennet came to get them and lead them out along some paths Zach didn't really remember well. Despite exhaustion, he barely suppressed a whoop when he saw the garden. His eyes lit up. "Unkempt ... even better ... more to explore ..." he thought. The little man walked fast and didn't seem to care whether or not they followed, so he picked up the pace grudgingly, gritting his teeth from fatigue.

And then the little Bennet dude opened a huge door.

Zach took a glimpse around the room, too tired to comprehend the situation. However, when he saw Clowesia's face, he first had the urge to guffaw, and then it began to dawn on him that maybe that look was there for a reason. He looked around the room again and counted the beds. And then, when Mr. Bennet confirmed it, Zach's eyes widened. "No way," he mouthed. They were going to share the room? And the only thing separating the girls from the boys would be a ... paper screen? Exhaustion was momentarily forgotten as he wolf whistled and doubled over in laughter. It wasn't really that funny, but because he was still exhausted even though he didn't feel it, he'd probably laugh at pretty much anything. "Nice one," he choked out in between spasms, "I bet this is gonna be interesting ..."

~Todd~

Todd waited for Mariah's response, but before she said anything, the big double doors opened and Mr. Bennett strolled in again. He said that he hoped the introductions went well, and that he would lead them to their rooms now. "It's about time" Todd grumbled, heaving himself out of the chair and following the short man, who didn't even look back once to make sure they were following.

He hurried after the stout man as he walked through the maze of hallways. He stopped once at an overgrown garden, but Todd barely gave it a glance before they moved on again. 'How does such a small human walk so fast?!' he wondered in amazement. They ascended a large, old staircase that was so worn down, that the carpet was peeling away and after walking a bit further, they came to a room with large double doors like the other one, which meant that this room would be decent-sized too. But when Mr. Bennett opened the doors, what he saw inside made his heart sink. They would all share this single room, divided by merely a paper curtain. 'I have to sleep with everyone else, in the same room!' he wanted to scream, but when he turned towards Mr. Bennett, he found that the short man had already left the room. They were supposed to be dressed in a half-hour, bringing up the issue of changing in front of the others without privacy. 'Here we go, the year is already starting out miserably'
he sighed internally, looking at the other kemonomimi to see what they would do.

~Alexandria~

Alex was glad that neither Clowesia, nor Zach seemed to notice her blushing, or if they did, they gave no sign of it. She thought she may have seen Zach glance at her, but she wasn't sure, and since he didn't say anything, she wasn't about to bring it up. Then, to her relief, Mr. Bennett came and ended the akward silence, saying that he hoped they all got along well and that he would lead them to bed now. Alex walked a little ways behind Clowesia, still to flustered to walk with her in case she said anything.

As Alex walked along swiftly, she admired the girl's strong, confident movements as opposed to her smaller and more hesitant ones. Despite being a black leopard, a big cat, she was quite clumsy on her feet, although for the most part, she was well-coordinated elsewhere. Soon, they arrived at a run-down, unkempt garden. Alex would've stayed and stared at its untamed beauty for longer, but the short man hustled on, so she followed the procession of kemonomimi and human once more.

They eventually climbed a large, old staircase and after a few more confusing turns through hallways, they arrived at another set of huge double doors. Mr. Bennett pulled them open and Alex gasped at what she saw inside. There were a total of seven beds, all in one room that was divided in half by a thin, paper screen. Alex could hardly believe her super-sensitive ears as the stout man explained the sleeping arrangements and said that they needed to be dressed in thirty minutes.

Alex said nothing, but glanced around in shock at the others, who all seemed to have a similar reaction, except for Zach of course, who for some reason began to laugh. 'This is so not funny' Alex thought, rolling her eyes. She glanced over at Clowesia, who was just standing there with her mouth open in disbelief.

Mariah Whiteside
The young rabbit girl's ears drooped as Todd spoke and her mouth fell open. Wait. What? He agreed with her? Mariah glanced over at him with a confused expression, "Wait. You actually agree with me?" A smile slowly fell onto her face and she let her guard down entirely, "You think the same thing as me? About the humans that is." She couldn't believe her luck. One of the main reasons for her persnickety attitude was because she thought all the others here would, well, worship the humans.

Suddenly the two doors swung open and Mr. Bennett appeared, ushering them into their sleeping quarters. Mariah watched for a moment as a few of the students rushed to follow him and Mariah soon got worried. What if they couldn't find their way? She watched as Todd got up and followed after them. She stood, confused for a brief moment before running after the group with a bit of worry in her eyes, "Hey, hey, hey, heyyy!" she tried to call after Todd. When they got to the room, Mariah slapped a hand onto Todd's shoulder, "Hey! We should talk again som--" Mariah cut off as she saw the single room all of them were supposed to share. What?! One room?!

Mariah's eyes and jaw both fell open. Oh no. She looked at Clowesia and Alex and swallowed loudly, maybe being a jerk wasn't the best approach. Letting her hand drop off of Todd's shoulder she trotted toward the room, muttering small, "Excuse me."s or, "Pardon me."s. Trotting over to a bed closest to the wall on the right side of the room, her eyes fell back onto Clowesia and Alex. I have to apologize.. Just suck it up and admit that you were wrong, Mariah. She frowned and turned back to her small bed, flopping down onto it. She just had to hope for the best.

After a moment the thought hit Mariah and she stared down at the floor. What about changing? Did Mr. Bennett seriously expect them all the change in front of each other? Looking over at the others, Mariah waved a hand, "So.. Anyone have any solutions, cause I'm pretty sure we're all thinking the same thing.. Just a guess though, I could be wrong." A slight blush picked at Mariah's cheeks as she spoke out. Way to make yourself look stupid.

~Todd~

Todd felt a firm grip on his shoulder and turned around to see Mariah. He had heard her calling to him on their way to the room, but there wasn't time for him to chat on the way their without risking falling behind and getting hopelessly lost. Although, he was beginning to think that being hopelessly lost would be better than the situation they were in now. Mariah had began to say that they should talk again sometime, but cut off her own sentence when she saw the room. Todd didn't have time to reply before she let her hand drop off of his shoulder and walked to her bed.

Todd stared after her, remembering their conversation from the other room. She had been so amazed that he had agreed with her about the humans, and honestly, he was surprised himself that she shared his views. So few of the kemonomimi here seemed to distrust the humans like he and Mariah did. Even more surprising than that was the small smile that spread across her face for a moment, something he guessed didn't happen often to her. He could tell that her smile was genuine because there was no fakeness to it like forced smiles had. And at that thought, he couldn't help but smiling a bit as well.

Mariah waved her hand, jerking him from his memories, as she spoke out about what they would do. She didn't give the subject, but everyone knew exactly what she meant. How were they all supposed to go about changing? That was a question that Todd was quite interested in knowing the answer to, and fast! They only had twenty-five minutes left before lights out. He noticed her flushing slightly and realized that she must be embarassed or something, since she normally wasn't a leader figure, due to her loner nature, similar to his. So, in order to help ease her anxiety, Todd sucked in a deep breath and decided to speak out too.

"Right...good idea Mariah. Does anyone have any ideas on what we do about changing?" he asked again, hoping for two things. One, that someone would step up with a plan. And two, that Mariah felt more comfortable now. He didn't know why he cared so much, being a loner. Maybe it was because she was so much like him. Neither liked crowds, and they both had the same viewpoints on humans, although there was bound to be more they had in common, but hadn't yet found out.

~Alexandria~

To Alex's surprise, Mariah waved a hand, signaling for everyone's attention before she asked if anyone had solutions, guessing that they were all thinking about the same thing. She was correct as far as Alex knew. She could tell that the silence that hung over the group of seven kemonomimi was caused by everyone imagining their own embarassment if they would have to change in front of others. Then, the loner boy, Todd she thought his name was, stepped up and repeated Mariah's question, but with slightly more authority. It was obvious that neither of them were comfortable being the center of attention, espeically Mariah.

Alex, on the other hand, didn't mind being the focus of a group, and had quite good leadership qualities, in her opinion anyway. "Well, what we could do is all face the wall and change. Nobody would be allowed to turn around until everyone had finished, that was, nobody is seen naked. That's the theory anyway, but it'll only work if everyone agrees"she pointed out, casting her glance around the group.

As everyone huffed and fumbled about, obviously off-put by the whole situation; Clowesia regained her cool, only being ruffled for a few seconds. Trotting over to the beds, Clowesia gave a blink as she saw a small card with Alex's name printed on it on perfect cursive, placed on the pillow of the first bed. 'Ah, so we have assigned beds.' She thought, looking to the second bed in the row she saw the name Eleonora on the card. Checking the next bed, she saw Mariah's card, than she saw the final bed, the one furthest from the door and closets to the bathrooms. 'Oh, so it's by age...wait, [censored], I'm sleeping beside Mariah! There goes all those late night girl talks I had been looking forward to with Alex.' Clowesia slumped, giving a pout.

Looking at the heavy, leather trunk sitting at the bottom of the bed, Clowesia's curiosity peaked. Flipping the latch she gave a grunt as she opened the top; she wasn't surprised to see her clothing and personal items stored inside. Reaching in she grabbed a pair of grey harem pants and a white muscle shirt. Her usual fair for sleeping in. This was about the time she heard the questions begin from the others, asking where they should change; looking from the bathroom doors, than back to the group of kemonomimi's still standing in a huddle at the door.

"Guys, why don't we just get dressed in the bathroom? We've got separate ones." She murmured, giving a docile blink. Turning around with her clothing in hand, she simply pushed through the bathroom door. Giving a grunt, she gave a quick look around the bathroom. On the far left side there were standard shower stalls someone might find in a gym. Right in front of her were bathroom stalls, and than to her right a huge mirror that stretched the entire length of the wall. And right in the middle were a series of sinks attached to a tiled, concrete dividing wall. 'Pretty standard.' Clowesia mused, walking over to one of the bathroom stalls to get changed.

~Alexandria~

Alex's gaze followed Clowesia as she trotted over to the beds, stopping at each one for a second to read the small folded paper on the pillowes. 'Oh that's just great! Assigned beds?!' she grumbled internally. As Clowesia went down the line, Alex's hopes were dashed of at least sleeping next to the girl. Clowesia paused at the final bed for a bit longer than the others as some thought went through her head.

When she slumped and seemingly pouted, Alex's spirits soared. Not because she liked to see her upset of course, but because she figured that Clowesia could've been thinking one of two things. First, that she was dismayed in having to sleep next to Mariah, or second, that she was sad she wouldn't be sleeping next to Alex. 'She doesn't like the order of the beds, obviously, but for what reason?' she wondered silently, her heart beginning to race at the thought of Clowesia wanting to be near her.

So absorbed in her thoughts, Alex hadn't realized that she was still gazing at Clowesia with an odd look of both hope and longing in her eyes until Clowesia began to say something, jolting Alex back to the situation at hand. She quickly averted her gaze from Clowesia and looked away, unable to hide her growing embarassment. Her cheeks began to deepen in color as she blushed and her heart rate quickened. Her blood coursed through her body faster, causing a roaring sound in her ears. Through the noise, she heard Clowesia suggest that they use the bathrooms to change, giving an innocent blink after her suggestion.

Alex's blush deepened even more as she realized how simple and obvious Clowesia's plan had been compared to hers. Although that was a bit embarassing, most of it was because she had been staring at Clowesia sub-consciously without even realizing it just a minute earlier. 'I hope nobody saw that...' she fretted in her mind.

Still keeping her eyes off of Clowesia, she heard her push the bathroom door open and go inside. When she was in, Alex finally was calm enough to walk across the room to where her bed was, easily locating her name on the tiny folded paper that was delicately placed on the pillow of the first bed. She pulled the suitcase out from under her bed, and with a start, she realized that her hands were trembling slightly. In order to keep her mind off of that, however, she started rooting through the luggage until she found a pair of gray sweatpants and a oversized T-shirt, her normal night-time wear. With her pajamas clutched firmly to her chest, Alex headed into the bathroom as well, entering one of the empty stalls to get dressed.

A few minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom and went straight to her bed on the farthest side of the room. Once she put her clothes away, Alex flopped down on her bed, glad that the shaking was gone, her heartbeat was slowly returning to normal, and she no longer felt warpth touching her cheeks, so her blushing had probably all disappeared as well. Alex let out a long breath through her mouth and stared at the ceiling, getting lost in thought again as she tried to figure out why she was reacting so oddly around Clowesia. She had never felt embarassed or hesitant around anyone else she liked, but for some reason, this time was different.

'But why? Clowesia is just another girl that I happen to like, just like the others, so why is it different now?' she questioned herself, trying desperately to figure her emotions out. 'But Clowesia isn't just like the others...she's much different' she began thinking, finding that she had an idea. 'And because she is so different, perhaps that's why my response is so different too...' she concluded, letting her last thought trail off.

She pulled Clowesia's image into her mind and it was easy for her to see that there were several physical differences with her, like her unusual size for a female kemonomimi, the ram horns she had when she was clearly not a male sheep, and how she had more features of her animal than anyone in the room did proportionally. 'All of those things make her unique on the outside, but she's different because of who she is too...' she thought. 'And she's so unlike anyone I've met...maybe that's why I feel so different around her' she realized.
