Ezra opened the door and peeked his head inside, giving the girl scrunched up in the corner a small smile. "Hello there," he greeted her, pulling a cart of food behind him. "Hungry?" he asked. "There's scrambled eggs and toast, along with some orange juice to wash it down. Do you have any allergies?" he asked casually.
"I am indeed," Dr. Clare agreed. "And I am the person who is in charge of taking care of you. But to do so, it requires you to be in your room," she said rather haltingly, her gray eyes piercing.

Alex relaxed. She set her knife down. "I-i am k-k-kinda hungry." she said nervously. She looked at the boy and started shaking, images flashing through her head. She buried her face in the blankets and started screaming. They wouldn't go away. The voices wouldn't leave her alone!

Ezra only picked up a plate and began loading heaps of eggs and two slices of buttered toast onto it, picking up the pitcher of orange juice and a glass, walking over to kneel beside the screaming girl. "Will you eat? It might make you feel better," he offered, indicating the plate of food. There was not much more Ezra could do for her; whatever mania plagued her, it was beyond his reach, and beyond his control. This of all things, he had come to accept.
Dr. Clare moved in step with Haiku, blocking his exit. "Until you have made a sufficient recovery, you must remain at St. Auron's for anaylization and treatment," she said in a monotone, her face unchanging. "The door is nothing; it can be fixed by our matienence."

Alex calmed enough to stop screaming. She looked up with tears streaming down her face and looked at the food. "Who are you?" she asked him. She looked at him questionably. She was trying to tune out the voices in her head and trying to stop the tears. "W-why are you so n-n-nice to me?"

Joke shrank back, not knowing what to do. "We need to leave. Joke doesn't want to hurt you." He pleaded, looking the woman in the eyes. He gulped, in fear of what he saw in the woman's eyes. He could see himself; see the demon inside him. It was grinning madly, as if mocking him for being a coward.

Ezra smiled down at the girl, nudging the food closer to her and placing a fork on the plate. "My name is Ezra," he explained. "I'm one of the nurses here at St. Auron's. And besides, it's what people are supposed to do," he said, giving her a kind smile. He sat down next to her, pulling his legs together Indian style. "What's your name dear?" he asked, though he had already learnt it.
Dr. Clare recognized this; it was the boy's split personality, the one who was still conscientous enough to supress his violent side, who tried to warn the people around him as well as himself of what his other "self" might do. Still look straight at the boy, she almost unnoticeably, began pressing keys into her pager, sending a text around that security might be needed. Dr. Clare had been told that the boy, Haiku's condition was not drastic enough for a padded cell and reinforced doors, but she was beginning to doubt these notions enormously. "You will not hurt me," she said calmly, staring at the boy levelly. "You will go back into your room, and no one will be hurt."

"Alex." Alexandria said before picking up the fork. She moved the food around the plate, wondering if she should eat it. She looked over at him, liking the company. When she was alone she had no choice but to cry or cut. She liked talking to someone for a change. She moved her knife away from him, wondering if he would take it. She didn't want to have to hurt him but she would if he tried to take it.

"It is a good place," Dr. Clare insisted, taking a step forward. "And accomadations can be made so that you do like it here. Would you like that?" she asked, raising one gray eyebrow.
Ezra caught sight of the knife but left it where it was; it wasn't causing any harm, not yet at least. He could leave it there for now and take it away later if necessary. "What's your favorite food?" Ezra asked, folding his hands in front of him.
