The sound of lunch excites me, a warm meal would be nice at the moment, something to take my mind off the upcoming onslaught of events in the hunger games. The capital was fairly nice and it definitely had good food, well, better food than what was served back in district 11. I make my way into the dinning hall, a little jumpy at first because it was nice to see the many types of food. Grabbing a plate, I scoop chicken breast on my plate. I had heard of these foods before, such as cows and chickens but had never really ever been able to try one considering the only meat I was ever able to eat was squirrel and on extremely rare occasions deer.

Surprise crossed his face as he left the training center on his way to eat, looking down at the girl that spoke to him. Fawn. A girl from his district. Standing in line, he basically just slathered food on his plate without looking, blue eyes scanning for a place to sit, finding one near the end of the table. "Sure." Was his simple response to the young girl, as he headed off to take his seat. All he wanted to do was sit away from the other tributes, get away from the Careers. Thoughts of his family came rushing to him, Fawn so close in age to his little brother it hurt.

I watched him go in shock, sure he is from my district but was that really enough to make him agree to become allies? I didn't say a word more, fairly uncertain if it was a good idea. After all I would most likely slow him down and get us both killed, and the last thing I want is for him to die. Clearly I have no chance of winning but if josh could win, that would make me feel much better about this whole lousy game because then at least a member of my own district would have won. I take my food and walk over to a table in a corner, not wanting to interact with the other tributes since I would be running away from them for my life when the games start.

Why did Josh agree to it? He wasn't sure the motive behind his awnser, besides the fact Fawn was pretty well the same age as Ryan. It would kill him to have his brother die. But, in all honesty, he wasn't sure the chance that Fawn would win. Or the chance he would win. So, he said yes. Sure, he didn't plan on killing her, but he also didn't plan on sticking around her. Out in the arena, he'd run full force into the bloodbath for a weapon and maybe a pack. Whatever he could grab. Then bolt. If he wasn't slaughterd. He just hoped Fawn would snag something from the outside and run. Maybe he could talk to her about it when they were back in their rooms on their alone time.

Cole Crowe
District 12 | Male
Cole nodded his agreement, slowing his pace of eating slightly, feeling the fullness begin to hit him. In District Twelve, where he came from, in the Seam, everyone was pulled together. They helped eachother, not because they were forced too, but simply because they were drawn together by the mutual need to survive. People helped eachother. If a family was struggling, people would be slightly more easier to trade with; often trading in the families favor. Everything was done to help the other survive. There were no pretences, no deceit; no secret hatred of everyone else. The Careers, these Games...they were something different entirely. Created to drive everyone apart, building relationships on lies and deceit. Cole hated it.
He took this opportunity to scan everyone while they settled down and ate. He scanned the Boy from District 11. He was tall, and strong-built; like many Cole had seen from District 11 in previous Hunger Games. The boy was sat with his female counterpart, away from the other tributes. His eyes flitted to the girl from District 11, she must only be about thirteen, one of the youngest here. He frowned, people that young stood no chance against the older Careers.
He eyed the table of four tributes; none of which looked particularly menacing. Cole then dragged his attentions onto the girl from District Two. She was definately the most threatening tribute in the dining hall so far. Her whole demeanour was warped with a captivating arrogance. Cole's jaw tensed as he stared at the girl. Had she been a resident of District Twelve and they had met under different circumstances, he may have considered her pretty hot. However, she was District Two. A Career. He felt the hatred rise in him once again.
Slowly, Cole turned back to Jeremy, hushing his voice slightly, "So, who else do you think we could trust, in the arena?" A two-bit allegiance would mean nothing. Whether it was here, or in the arena, they stood more chance if they teamed up with others.

Zayden glanced up when the siren that signaled lunch time rang through the room. A frown twisted on his face. He wasn't hungry, and wanted to stay and play with all the pretty knives. He sighed, knowing it was against the rules. His brown eyes wandered back down from the ceiling to where Shay stood- or rather where she used to stand. She was already halfway into the dining hall. Zayden cocked and eyebrow as he watched the girl's sassy movements from behind. Did she really just walk away from him? Ego-driven jealousy bit Zay like a rabid dog's bite. Two can play this game. He almost spoke the words in a growl as he started after the girl towards the mess hall. He passed her up, not even looking back as he started picking things out from the feast of various meals. He grabbed meat mostly, along with some colorful-looking pasta and fruit. Turning, his eyes grazed the tables. The only people who seemed to know what they were doing were District Four's tributes sitting with Twelve. Hot angry confusion crept up on the boy. What the hell were they doing with someone from a lower district? Twelve of all their options! They were supposed to be Careers. Or did they forget? Zayden grit his teeth. Now he would have to come up with a new strategy not involving Four in the pack. Well, not him. His Mentor did all the thinking. Zay's part mostly consisted of executing the killing and looking great doing it.
Cracking his neck, he strode over to the table of traitors. He dropped his plate on the metal, making a loud clanking noise before he grabbed a chair and flipped it around. He sat down obnoxiously in between Jeremy and Cole. "So what are two of my Careers doing over here with this looser?" He asked with a steely brown glare at Jeremy.

Cinder's breath caught when the bell rang, signaling lunchtime. Now she'd have to wait even longer before she could get her hands on an ax. Envy swirled in her forest green eyes as she watched a girl who had gotten to the station before her carelessly throw the ax at a dummy. She obviously didn't even know the first thing about chucking a hatchet, nor did she have respect for the weapon. Cinder's weapon. Flashbacks of home sent Cinder's head spinning. She remembered the first time she was ever taught to use an ax. Her father was the one who introduced her to it and trained with her. Her brothers were the ones who helped her finish the training. Cinder blinked, holding tears that wanted to jump out from behind her eyes back. Dad. Any thought of her father, dead now, made her get all emotional. It was probably the only thing that ever could. She instantly turned away from the wall of axes and hatchets and started toward the food. Stop it. She commanded herself. Don't cry. What would they think of you if they saw you crying? Reaching the table of food, she picked up an already filled plate. They would think your only human. A faded voice in her head whispered. Cinder shook the voice's comforting words away and looked around for a place to sit. Allies, allies. I need to make allies. The blonde told herself. With that he started walking toward a table of three. The tributes from four and the boy from twelve. Yeah, they might be- Cinder stopped dead in her tracks when the boy from one sat down at the table looking awful mad. No, you don't need anymore trouble. She told herself as she changes course and took a seat at the empty table next to the four tributes.

When the bell for lunchtime rang, Castella lowered her axe immediately, turning around to see where the others where headed. It was then that she glimpsed Cindara looking at her with a nameless emotion in her eyes; she wasn't sure if it was anger, or something else. Before she could think on it, however, Cindara spun away towards the food without so much as a nod in her direction. Feeling slightly confused, Castella returned her axe to one of the racks and started towards the table of food along with the other Tributes. The table was laden with more delicacies than she could name; the meat here, unlike the tough, stringy beef back in District 10, was succulent and savoury. She picked up a plate of food almost distastefully, disgusted at the luxuries lain out before her. She felt like a pig being fattened up for slaughter - and wasn't that the point of the Games, anyway? Castella's features darkened into a frown as she snatched up some cutlery before scanning the room. A rational part of her brain urged her to go take a chance with the Careers, but she knew they wouldn't include a girl who only knew about butchery and animals in their group. Once again, she found herself glancing in Cindara's direction, and this time, Castella couldn't stop herself from walking towards District 7's female Tribute. She sat down across from Cindara without a word, picking at her food. After a long stretch of silence, Castella looked up awkwardly. "Hey." she said shortly.

Shay wasn't exactly eavesdropping, but she was certianly listenining to the argument waiting to happen. It was kind of hard not to listen .. Zayden had one of those voices that you nuturally listened to; naturally obeyed. Though from the look on the Twelve's face when he'd been training, the sheer hardness and determination (yes, she admitted to watching him a little) the career could tell that Cole wouldn't appreciate the comment. She took a little time to study the boy from Four, her expression bored yet curious. Why a would-be career would want to ally with a Twelve, Shay had no idea, but it was his death wish. If he had picked to go with the career pack he had a more than seventy-five per cent chance of making it through the bloodbath, unless ...
Her expression grew curiouser still, eyes still on the boy from Four and hand resting on her hip. Did Four intend to join the career pack ... with Twelve? That, really, was just stooping too low. Never, in the history of the Games that she could remember had a Twelve joined the pack. She had to admit it would be fun having Cole tag along to mess around with and eventually take down later, but why Four had chosen to do it like this ... well, maybe he had seaweed in his brain.
What are two of my careers doing here with this loser?
Shay's vision of Zayden then dropped by a great deal. One; since when did he rule the pack? Sure, he was the sparkly fit bo from One but that didn't give him any right to take charge. Two; of all the insults he could have come up with ... loser? Really? Lips pursing into a dissatisfied pout, she began to saunter over to the table. If these two guys were going to get into a punch-up, she sure as hell wanted to be there for the close ups. Tossing her hair away from her face, Shay eventually sat down a seat away from Cole and rested her chin on her hand.

Cindara lazily picked up her fork and started swirling it around in, what looked like, some sort of mashed potatoes. Her eyes scanned over the rest of what she got. Bright citrus-colored pasta, soft meat, hot bread. All of it was so alien to Cinder's home meals back in District 7. Where they were lucky to even get a small sliver of meat, let alone bread, to share among four people. It all made her frown. Why did the Capitol insist on doing this? They gave them the most luxurious meals, clothes, living quarters, and for what? Just to watch them murder each other days later? It was sick, twisted. Cinder never did get the whole idea of the Hunger Games. So, people rebelled. How does that justify the mass murder of twenty-three children every year? She shook her head. It doesn't. That was the problem she had with it.
Being so deep in her own thoughts, the blonde tribute hardly even noticed Castella slid in the seat across from her. Her dark green eyes flickered up, and through strands of her hair, she recognized the girl as District 10's girl tribute. Castella, as Cinder remembered correctly. She hesitated speaking. This is your chance! The little voice in her head told her. Sadly, it sounded much like Graven's voice. Make her your ally! So, Cinder sucked it up and heeded to her Mentor's wishes. "Hey." She replied.
