    Arcadia’s white eyes searched the depths of the murky water, desperate for some kind of food. She hadn’t eaten in weeks, and there were close to no animals in the sewers that were edible, as most of them were far too irradiated. Her lips curled back in a snarl, showing her shark-like teeth as she pushed herself up to the surface. Perhaps there would be food there, or at least another mutant which she could use as bait. The amphibious girl pushed open the sewer grate, climbing out and strapping on her breathing apparatus that hung from her belt loops when she wasn’t using it. Of course, being out of water meant that she only had a few hours to hunt, and in these conditions, hunting wasn’t exactly easy.

    She pushed her wet, tangled hair back, the spikes protruding from her skull holding it out of her face. That was probably the only reason she liked her mutation, other than the fact that it kept Reapers from getting too close. She hated swimming, but she had to, since she couldn’t survive on land as long as she would have liked to. Arcadia started walking north, in the opposite direction that the wind was blowing. If there were any creatures there, they wouldn’t catch her scent on the wind this way. She did her best to stick close to the shadows, since one could never tell when a Reaper was nearby. Even Arcadia had to admit that they were sneaky bastards when they wanted to be, which wasn’t good for any mutant nowadays. At least her poisonous spikes could protect her... for a while, anyways. She would have to stop running away eventually.

    Her webbed feet dragged through the sand as she walked. Her hunger was visible; you could see her ribs through her tank top, and her arms looked weaker than they actually were. She didn't think she needed food at the time, but she really did. Unfortunately, the chances of anyone finding food here was very low, since she was dangerously close to the city. The sewer in which she normally lived was underneath the city, as most sewers are, so she didn't really have a choice but to hunt near the city.

    ((Hopefully this is a sufficient post... If not, I can post more!))
I won't be online as often, due to bad grades.

||Kit||17||Female||Mutant||Alone||

Kit sat crouched just inside a large drain pipe overlooking the black scummy waters of the river, her eyes scanning the dark shadows just before dawn. She held a fish in her paw like hands, only about 7 inches long but big enough to be a feast for the small girl. She had managed to snatch it while it was stuck in a small puddle alongside the river, remnants of the flooding rain they had had the past few days. Now, she had to get back to a safe place to eat. She sat poised like that for a long time, making sure she would not be seen as she leapt from her hiding place to dash for another pipe that would lead her into a different part of the sewer.

Finally the girl made her move, transferring the fish from her hands to her mouth as she jumped from the pipe, landing on all fours in the muck below. She paused one more time to look around, her last chance to gain some kind of warning, before darting from shadow to shadow until she reached her destination of the drain pipe, hidden in its deep damp shadows once more.

She hurried along the pipe, her soft footsteps echoing around her, still moving on all fours since she couldn’t stand up in the cramped pipe. She chose this way because not many could navigate the small dark quarters without getting lost or stuck, and the smooth round walls held no crevasses or caves for something to hide. Here the girl let her guard drop just a tiny bit, her muscles not as tense as she moved, but eventually the pipe started to open up into the main part of the sewers, and her caution quickly returned. She was not only in danger of reapers, but her small fish would attract attention from hungry mutants.

||Henry||24||Male||Kin||Alone||

Henry walked down the steps from his apartment above his shop, already fully dressed and ready for the morning, though the dark circles under his eyes revealed he would rather be sleeping. His official shop hours were 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. however after the sun went down and the city went quiet, he serviced a whole new clientele. So it was not uncommon for him to work and function on very little sleep.

As he flicked on the lights and turned the sign in the front window from closed to open he attempted to blink the sleep from his eyes, running his hands through his hair several times and shaking his head as he muttered to himself. Because really, who actually enjoyed being up before the sun?

Once everything was set in order he went to sit behind the counter, resting his head in his hands and blankly staring down at the counter top, waiting for his body to realize it would not be going back to sleep anytime soon. That point was driven home as people started to trickle in, the usual morning customers stopping in to pick something up before work, or those just getting off from late shifts, ready to go home but running some necessary errands. Not many words were exchanged, since no one felt awake enough to even try to hold a short conversation. Besides, did anyone really care when they asked, ‘how are you today’?

((Finaly got a post in. I updated the front page with weather, time of day, and season. It is the last post before my forms. I also added my kin form. I will still be working on them, they are just the bare minimum. But hey, they are something. If anyone sees that their characters are not on the front page or something is not write, let me know and I will change it.))

For me food was easy. The others, they struggled for it, fought each other for it, sometimes they were desperate enough to kill each other for it. It seemed to me a though they didn’t expand their hunting grounds much farther than the sewers, too petrified by fear to leave. I was nocturnal, and I knew very, very well that I was more than capable of looking after myself. Besides, I was nearly impossible to see. I was a thief. Anything I needed, anything I wanted, anything I desired and sought after became mine as I stole everything. It wasn’t hard really. In fact that’s what I was doing doing now.
I was perched on the edge of a tall building right at the very top. I was in a crouching positing with my crude, clawed hands gripping the edge with my tail lazily whipping back and forth behind me. A cool breeze ruffled my thick black pelt and my ears were angled backwards so sounds wouldn’t be drowned out by the whistling that would flood through them if they were open to the wind. My keen yellow eyes took in everything below me and it wasn’t long before I spotted a potential target. It was a small house, a bungalow really. There were no lights on inside though I knew it was occupied.
A vague twisted sort of grin played across my broad feline face as I started to scale down the side of the building, dropping the last story to the ground and landing on silent feet. Sorry, paws. I dropped to all four and bounded towards the house. A few quick sniffs told me nobody was home and with an easy grace I slid one of my claws into the lock, pushing the door open when I heard the little satisfying click. I managed to slink inside silently, keeping my ears, eyes and nose open for the slightest give away that someone would be coming.
I went about my business quickly, stealing any food I could find and a few trinkets here and there. It didn’t take me long gather everything and leave again, making sure the door was locked behind me as I went. I may look like a jaguar, but I still had a human brain. It was day though. I had to retreat back to the sewers, not for fear of getting caught but rather that I was nocturnal and wasn’t exactly fond of the sun. I could do without it.
It didn’t take long to slink back to the sewers with my prize. I knew I was going to be pestered for the food but I also knew that none would be hot-headed enough to challenge me for it. My jaws had over two thousand pounds of pressure behind them which meant I broke bone. Easily. I clambered through the sewers, shrugging off pestering mutants as I went. I had more than enough food to last me a few days although I knew I was also bound to give some of it away though my charity wasn’t always free. I liked trinkets, and that was a well-known fact. Random items struck my interest and I already had a small hoard of items. Anything from jewelry to old currencies to glass bottles to decorative pieces of metal. If you wanted to go somewhere and needed a guard or wanted something stolen I was the one you came to see though I didn’t usually assist you for free. Knowledge I gave freely so long as it wasn’t related to the things I did, and food, well, I knew these mutants were desperate for food so I usually pawned mine off. I didn’t need it seeing as I could get three days’ worth of food in one night.
Finally I was home, well to the cavern that I called home. It was a cozy, dry cave that I’d found when I’d first come to the sewers the first chamber was round with a low vaulted ceiling that was just tall enough for me to stand up in and two tunnels branched off from it leading to two other pockets. Both were taller than the first, though one was narrow and I used rarely and the other was much, much larger and open though it was full of hiding places that only I knew about. I took my time hiding my food an trinkets before going back to the opening cave and padded to the mouth of the tunnel that led to it. When I was there I merely laid down and stretched out like a cat waiting for the inevitable by-passer to ask me for something or other.

Ka::17::Scraper
Ka lurched unsteadily to her feet, one scaly hand shooting out to right herself. A dank, sour wind blew through the sewer tunnel, whistling around the bits of twisted metal that had somehow found their way down here. With it, a new smell came. Something was moving up ahead. She slunk forward, feet hitting the filthy floor in a quiet, sticky rhythm. A bit of light filtered in through the grates, and she squinted her eyes against it, not having much interest is whatever lay up there. Snake-like metabolism meant she could go for days without a meal, but this was getting to be too much. Despite the recent rains which had washed the gunk out of the pipes and drainage areas, she hadn't been able to catch a meal. An unwary sewage worker had tempted the mutant, earlier, but she wasn't interested in taking that road, even if it meant fighting back the insatiable beast, hunger, that gnawed at her stomach.

In any event, it was time to do something about all this. A Stygian blackness crept at the end of each sewer pipe, and while she couldn't be sure if it contained any life, it most certainly contained death of one sort or another. Ka's tongue darted out her mouth and flicked the air, catching whatever scents drifted by. Something was down here. Nothing incredibly dangerous, just a rat. Without much of a warning, she mutant shot off, knowing she'd only be able to move this fast for a few seconds. Thankfully, that was all she needed. The small rodent was smacked across the tunnel, skidding over the mucky floor only to hit the opposite wall with a dull thud. Ka leapt after it, regretting the unneeded effort she had exerted in that first movement. In a tangle of arms and legs, she pinned the thing against the wall, hands wrapped tight around its wriggling body.

She hunkered over the little animal, looking at it with a bit of disdain before snapping its neck with a quick jerk. Anyone with thumbs and a finger or two was just being dramatic with the whole business of catching things with their mouths. How inhumane and utterly unneeded. With this on her mind, Ka unhinged her jaw and dropped the rat into her gaping maw, swallowing it without chewing. It was only then that she smelled it. Rubbing her throat, which had stretched to a near ridiculous width a moment before, the mutant wheeled around, eyes narrow. A smell of some sort. A fish! She hadn't had fish in...weeks? Maybe months. A girl she had seen around here, with the face of a raccoon and a head of thick, wiry hair. Whoever this particular castoff was, it wasn't like her to be up this close to the city. Ka's milky gaze locked on her, and it didn't take long for her to figure out what she wanted. That food looked tasty. She knew Jett lurked not far away, outside his own cave. Hopefully he wouldn't turn up now.

    R E N
    18 | Male | Mutant

    Ren's lightly tanned skin sparkled as sunlight kissed the hundreds of tiny water droplets that coated his body. The sun lit up the area all around as it filtered between rain clouds. Ren's breath was now visible as it formed in small clouds. He casually sat one hundred meters above the ground atop an office building with his legs dangling over the edge. His blond hair dripped with water and his jeans and t-shirt were soaked. The patch of sunlight did not last long before it disappeared, sending the land once again into an eerie darkness. It was no longer as black as night, but still the clouds blocked most of the sun's shine, making it not feel like an early morning. The darkness did not bother Ren's vision at all as he could see in the darkest black with his excellent night vision.

    Ren let a quiet yawn escape his damp lips. He swung his legs away from the edge and leaped silently from his perch on the old abandoned building. Everything about Ren appeared to be normal and human. Tall, blond, and fit, except for the lump on his back where his wings were bound uncomfortably with a harness. His wings were what brought him up to the building every morning. The young man would spend time just before sunrise staring up at the sky where he yearned to fly. The few birds that remained in the city, the clouds, and even the wind seemed to call his name. However the only flights he could steal were nights when the moon wasn't bright, the city was quiet, and he felt it would be safe to do so.

    Again the sun peeked between clouds before another downfall of rain came pounding across the roof of the structure. He grabbed his sweater and zipped it up before starting his descent down the slippery ladder located on the outside wall of the building. The sweater did a decent job of concealing his bound wings, but he was still always a bit nervous of being discovered. But what mutant did not have a fear that they would be discovered? In these days the government sent out hunters to seek and kill mutants.

    With a flick of his head he sent a spray of droplets showering down away from his face as he took the stairs two at a time. His footsteps made no sound as he moved with the grace of an owl. When he reached the alley between his building and another beside it, he pulled his hood over his head. As Ren entered the streets he stayed to the shadows as he moved along at a swift pace. He purposely moved along with noise as he did his best to blend in with other humans who started to emerge from houses or alleys.

((Cursed school! I have had no time for any writing. It's been torture. Maybe this Tuesday I'll have time. Maybe.

Is everyone okay with having the Reapers show up? If we're going to be getting rid of the leader, perhaps the sooner the better.))
INSANELY BUSY!
I am moving! For the next month or so, I am going to be so very busy.
If I'm on here, it's because I'm unwinding with writing or pets or whatever.
Please do not add to my stress, if you can. Your support is appreciated.
