If Ren had known that Sapphire had recognized him as the puppet ruler of the kingdom, he would have immediately turned and ran, and then remain sure to not leave his guards behind again. However much he hated the constant 'protection', Ren was sadly aware that he had no choice but to try to stay alive. If he died, there would be chaos; he was the last in line for the throne after all. And knowing his advisors, they would place someone who could be manipulated to their wishes even more so as king. Thus leaving death not an option Ren could risk. But Mark said he wanted to stay for this game the girl proposed, and it would seem very suspicious to suddenly leave. Not to mention, like those two, he hadn't exactly played many games in his life. And none at all, obviously, since he became king, unless the forever going cycle of manipulation and subtle rebellion between himself and his 'puppeteers' counted. Ren doubted it did, unsurprisingly.
"I'll stay, it's rare we have time for games after all." Which in all honestly was the truth. Ren merely shrugged at what Mark said, offering no visible reaction. He did not like how Mark seemed to be analyzing him, not one bit, and was very grateful to see him return his attention to the girl who gave the idea of a game in the first place. "So, what is this game anyways?"
The story was unraveling very nicely indeed. Who would have expected three children like them to end up in the same place? the king of the land, a boy who wanted him dead, and a girl who had fancied him and then discovered his identity. Heaven knew things couldn't remain normal after that, eh?
((I'm really sorry for the short posts. D: But the headaches are killing me, and I have to have Hikari help with these for that reason.))
