Once Upon A Time {Arranged Marriage} OPEN!!

Arabella listened to the kings speak. The marriages had been rearranged and she hadn't been forced into one of them, luckily. Her eyes lit up as she protested the offer of her marriage to Alexander and smiled broadly at her sister. She reached over and squeezed her hand reassuringly. Now everyone will be happy, she thought. She glanced over at her now oldest brother, and a few tears sprang anew. Well, Tristan won't be happy, but then, when is Tristan ever happy? she thought again. She waited in silence for him to protest his new marriage, knowing he would have something to say.

Tristan stood, noting that his parents were preparing to make a speech. His father cleared his throat, then opened his mouth. But no sound came out. He closed it, and sighed. "We are gathered here for a very serious matter." he paused, his eyes stationed to the blue carpet. "Prince Aiden Lee Kross has passed, and is no longer with us." he announced, a little louder.

The ruler of Avalon spoke. "Both kingdoms shall be in mourning for three months, as goes the tradition. We shall grieve for the fallen prince. The King looked over to his equal, their eyes meeting. "His death leaves loose ends for both kingdoms, and we must be sure that no such ends exist." he said.

"As your lords, we have collaborated and have put together a new plan. One that shall connect each loose end until they are extinct. There shall still be two marriages. But the couples have been rearranged." Tristan's father explained. The prince prepared himself for what was soon to come.

"Prince Tristan Luke Jones of Elyadon," The prince cringed inwardly. "Shall be wed to Princess Aria Prim Winters of Avalon. And Prince Alexander Michaelis J. Carter of Avalon is to marry Princess Serena Alice Jones of Elyadon."

Kaleb flicked his eyes away from Serena's face when the couples were announced. He turned to his father, feeling a bit surprised that there was no mention of Zerrick. "My Lords," he said, addressing both kings. "What has happened to Prince Zerrick that he cannot marry Princess Serena?" He was relieved that Rena did not have marry Zerrick, but now she had to marry Alexander. It was one after the other.

"The eldest prince, Prince Zerrick, is not compatible with these arrangements. He is unfit for this service to the kingdoms." his father explained. KC's brow furrowed. Why was Zerrick "not fit" for being married?

I dusted the shelf quickly, attacking the dusty shelves vigorously. I disliked dust. Well, there wasn't much... But to me, I always thought there was more than it seemed. I knew I had OCD but I never tried to restrain it. Millimeters mattered to me, all the time. I straightened an all ready straightened painting (it was off by 1.45629848 millimeters) and wandered about with my duster.

Listening on as the Kings and Queens of both kingdoms discussed the new arrangements, Nick could only feel pity and sorrow for Tristan. Having to give up his freedom to assume the role of the Eldest Prince was not going to be easy. Nick sighed and looked down at the ground. Upon hearing that Serena would be marrying Prince Alexander instead of Zerrick, Nick looked up. You could tell that quite a few of the royals were shocked at this new arrangement. What had happened to Prince Zerrick? Why couldn't he marry Serena? Nick was so consumed by his thoughts that when a single word cut through the room, a word of defiance, spoken from the quiet Serena, Nick though he had heard wrong. Everyone watched in shock as Prince Kaleb walked over to Serena and held her hand. Together, they proposed for a new marriage arrangement - for Prince Kaleb to assume the role as the 'Eldest Prince' and marry Serena. Nick smiled gently as he looked on at the happy couple. Yes, he supposed that it was a good idea, it made his sister happy and Kaleb seemed like a nice person. Nick nudged Tristan. "Do you have anything you like? If so, say it now," he whispered.

Tristan hesitated, glancing across the room at Aria. What did she think of this? He didn't know whether she wanted to marry, but he doubted she wanted to be married to him. Stepping forward, Tristan cleared his throat. "Your royal highnesses, may I also request a change? I cannot speak for Princess Aria Prim Winters, but I am against being married so soon. Please consider one marriage?" he asked, a bit pleadingly. He kept his gaze on his father, who furrowed his brow.

The kings glanced at each other, the queens lost in thought. "As said before, we shall think upon it. For now, you may retire to your chambers. I am sure that most of you are more than weary after last night's theatrics." The Avalon King said, dismissing them.

"We shall send out messengers with our outcome by tonight." The Elyadon King said, watching them bow and file out of the cavern. Tristan let out a quick breath. There was a chance that they could say no. No to everything. He dipped in a quick bow towards each set of rulers, not meeting his father's eyes, and slipped out of the room.

Kaleb looked down at Serena, smiling encouragingly. They could do this. They had to do this. He squeezed her hand gently, then looked back to the monarchs. They stood grim and serious. As Tristan spoke, their faces turned darker. He hoped they were deep in thought and not getting mad at this little rebellion. He didn't say anything when they were dismissed. Instead, he kept hold of Serena's hand and exited the room with her.

Serena bit her lip as she followed KC out of the room. She held his hand as she followed him silently. The girl felt confused. She was relieved she had stood up for her and KC, though she also felt sad because of Aiden's loss. Serena just felt tired. She only have had 30 minutes sleep last night. Of course, it was more as the others got, but still...

Serena's gaze flickered to KC. "You know it was our only chance, right?" she asked softly, not wanting to seem selfish towards the others because she had brought this up while Aiden had died. Serena knew that the announcement about Aiden's death would be made today or tomorrow, and so about the new engagements. The kings could afford it to change the marriages once in public, but a second time wouldn't be possible. It would make the people doubt about them. So if she hadn't told it now, the chances of her and KC to be together would have dropped far below zero.

A sing-song laugh escaped her lips. "I have a feeling you wouldn't be able to hold it in even if I said I would snitch. But I won't. I promise." Maria said with eager eyes and a brilliant smile. Crystal had always been much more daring than herself and always seemed to have the best stories
