Carmen took a pie for herself, slowly eating it while she watched the others. She wasn't really in the mood to weigh in, though she felt a bit of pity for Kat- she looked so awkward, off to the side...
"Hey, really sorry that we didn't get you sooner." Carmen commented, moving closer to where Kat was sitting.

Kat glanced at Carmen, confused for a second why she was talking to her, then looked at her again with a glare. "Apology not accepted." she grumbled, wiping her nose on the blanket Cara had given her. "So what was that all about, you guys were just going to go leave on some journey without me? And what's this about Destiny?"

"We weren't going to leave without you- however, uh, we were going to get you last. We'll be on a boat for a while, and you hate water, sooo..." Carmen explained, scratching the back of her neck.
"You turn into...a hog, right?" she aske,d attempting to make conversation, and silently hoping that her question wouldn't piss Kat off more.

Kat's eyes darkened. "No sh*t, sherlock," she growled. Kat didn't know what that saying meant, but it sounded good so she made a habit of using it when it seemed to fit."And what, you turn into a canary? If for some reason we're going to have to fight some random bear, are you going to sing your way out of it and fly off or something?" She shoved a chunk of pie into her mouth, grumbling.

"Jamai turns into a bat," Cara said innocently.

Jamai looked like she was about to strangle her, then answered Mikey, "I thought about what you said with the boats and I guessed taking some food and money from that cafe wasn't horrible either." She pulled out a pouch and dumped out the coins she had taken, making Cara's eyes widen.

"It really doesn't matter what any of us can 'turn into', it only matters that we hurry up and finish this so the old hag won't keep nagging at us. Another reason Cara shouldn't come... her getting hurt would slow us down." Mikey said. What they turned into really didn't matter... At all...

Kat turned her head to look at Cara, first with an annoyed look as though she were an irritating bug flying too close to her face, then it cleared with an attempt at a friendly grin which seemed more like a pathetic grimace. "Cara, right? Thanks for the stuff. But-er-why are you here. It's just us magical, shape-shifting freaks that are "destined""-she spoke with a sarcastic, dramatic tone, waving her hands at about every vowel-"to go on this amazing journey to... somewhere. Righhht?" Her eyes darted from face to face, daring them to embarrass her.

Mikey wanted to burst out in laughter but he knew that if he did he would regret it later... and Kat was doing a really good job... So instead he just nodded in agreement, not going to interupt her.

Jamai glared back between Kat, Mikey, and Cara.

"Destiny told me to," Cara explained, "and here, we don't defy gods."

"We're part gods... and so what if we say to stay behind? Or tell your parents to keep you here?" Mikey asked, changing his mind about not interupting like the butt he is.
