// Cast of a Die \\
A million things can happen over the course of one single second. One could win the lottery. Hit a squirrel. Spill a drink. Be thrown across a bus due to a massive exterior force while bound and gagged crashing into the very individual keeping you captive. Of course that is an extreme and rather unlikely scenario, right? One day, Jessica really need to have a
word with Lady Luck.
The abrasive thrill of being tossed about the vehicle left Jessica lying in her captor's arms semiconscious and staring into his chest. As might be imagined, after severe concussive trauma, even a brilliant mind such as hers
could give into base instincts, not that she'd ever admit it. Burying herself in the man's chest she lets the waterworks flow.
The tumbling bus served as a perfect metaphor for what she'd experienced over the last few days. An anonymous tip arrived at the InterPol offices that there would be a major attack on a small cafe in Geneva, following procedure dispatch sent a team to the county, a very large team at the Captain's insistence, to investigate. Things proceeded accordingly until an HVT appeared in the area, openly revealing his presence and antagonizing the local law. Still manageable and by the book.
Then things went to Hell.
Reports of open gun battles in the streets started pouring in. Civilians flooded the roads all fleeing from one central point. Cafe Venetia. The news jumped all over the events, desperate to get any coverage they could they started to swarm police HQ's cramming into the already overpacked stations and streets. The police were delayed several minutes as riot squads were deployed to clear enough space that SWAT vehicles could deploy. Military elements scrambled from the nearby station.
An explosion rocked the cafe and the city became still, as though the entire affair died in the blast. Police searched the streets for the offenders, clearing building after building in search of the personnel responsible for the attack but they failed to find any. The only bodies they discovered were those of the officers who fell, blood samples were taken where spatters and pools were found but they'd all been contaminated at the scene and proved useless.
Then Hell came home.
A strike hit at a nearby ice cream parlor, only about a block away from the offices. Gunfire, bright lights, explosions and then Kaboom. The building lay in a pile of rubble. Emergency responders sorted through the wreckage in hopes of finding survivors. They did, sorta. The creature they discovered appalled them. The tattered remains of a woman struggled beneath a section of roofing, her one arm clearly broken and her torso torn asunder, key organs displayed to the world and...chewed open in the likeness of a bag of catnip left to the beasts themselves.
Groaning and grunting men freed the woman from her prison, allowing EMTs to her aid. The first man never even screamed, her broken arm caught him in the throat, causing him to stumble and her teeth found his. The second thrust his arm into the mix hoping to stop the attacking but losing a chunk instead. Then the officers shot. Twelve rounds tore through her torso before a HazMat team appeared and secured the creature for transport. Jessica had been so excited when they arrived with her new toy.
Now...Now she knew the true meaning of terror. Heavy metal bracers and electronic locks trapped her hands and feet. The new toy, the creature that not even death yet claimed, existed outside of her perception, possibly free and drawing nearer for the feast. A vampiric male bore her close, further trapping her in this state of weakness and vulnerability. Now that the bus stopped rolling, physically and emotionally, only fear and desperation remained.
