Nathan's eyes grew wide and watery, like a puppy's, when the boy responded with an equally eccentric answer, he squealed,"Truly?! Oh, we'll have mountains of fun, you and I! We can make snow angels, have snowball fights, staring contests...Are you any good at poker games, mate?" His father had once been an addicted gambler, and had passed down his skills to his son."Cause I have a custom pack of playing cards that you just might find interesting." Dimples etched at the corners of his mouth, a mischievous spark in his eyes. He suddenly noticed a retreating figure, a boy being excluded from the group because of his careless intrusions. Nathan acted fast, so as to preserve the friendship of these two boys while he still could, outstretching both his hands, one towards Korbin and the other towards the other, he introduced himself,"Nathan Delmar, at your service." He shook their hands vigorously with a firm grip.

Blinking Serenity looked over to the boy who had introduced himself as Korbin, as he walked off Serenity followed knowing that soon she would end up falling behind, as most people's stride was two of hers. Thinking back to this morning Serenity remembered her grandmothers goodbye, they'd both been crying Serenity more than her grandmother; after all her grandmother had more people that she could talk to than Serenity ever had. Feeling a lump growing in her throat Serenity swallowed and looked up at the pale grey and cloudy sky -Oh god please don't let me cry.- she thought as she tried to beat down the lump in her throat. Blinking Serenity looked down from the sky and to the girl who had introduced herself as Alena. Crossing her arms over her chest almost as if she could hold what warmth she had left in her body "I'm Serenity." she replied softly glancing at the girl; her eyes almost immediately drawn to the scar on her cheek Serenity moved her gaze away from it and back to Alena's eyes. While she wanted to ask how she'd gotten it Serenity held her tongue, she didn't want to seem rude. Wracking her brain for something to continue their conversation -um...maybe, what should I ask?- biting her bottom lip softly "Uh, what do you think about the Passage?" she asked her grey eyes clouding in confusion. Hearing the snow crunch behind them, Serenity turned and noticed a boy a few inches taller than them striding forward, towards them.

Suddenly, the lad turned and grasped both his hand and Ari's hand and shook them in firm grips. He let the lad get on with it before glancing at Ari. "Come on, you can join in! It isn't that hard to scare people." He assured the stouter boy, still smirking with strands of his wild hair blowing in his face, joined by snow. Already, the boring introductions were killing his brain. "Just a story, promise."

( @~Fullmetal.Heart~, We'll get that sorted out, don't worry! Most people won't be meeting their Guides for a little while yet, I believe -and if no one has signed up for that last human by then... Well, perhaps someone here wouldn't be averse to another character, and, if no one steps up, I'll play your human companion. c: )

All of a sudden, Ari felt himself being yanked back into the group, hand clasped in the strong grip of the eccentric boy, who introduced himself as Nathan Delmar. He was the outer edge of a three-person chain it seemed, with Korbin at the other end. Nathan released their hands, and Ari drew his warily back to his person, keeping it close against his side as he moved back to his previous place to listen to Korbin.
"Um, okay," he replied hesitantly, joy at being included for once stifling any qualms over the amorality of the exercise he was about to take part in. It was just a story -just a little fright, nothing harmful. It'd be fun. Mistaking the smirk on Korbin's face for a smile, Ari let himself be reassured, sweeping any misgivings under the rug and stamping them out. He turned once more to Nathan, realizing suddenly he hadn't introduced himself to the strange boy yet. "I'm Ari," he said quietly, "Nice to meet you." He did not offer a hand; that part of the introduction process had been thoroughly covered already.
"So, um, what were you thinking?" He shuffled his feet in the snow, watching as snowflakes whitened the dark tops of his boots. "For the story, I mean?"

"Pleasure to meet a grizzly." Nathan winked at Ari, a 'grizzly' was an enlightened or evolved intellectual, someone misunderstood by society. He took the back of his left hand and used it to cover the right side of his mouth, like he was sharing a secret,"Your guardian angel is very pretty." It was hard not to feel sorry for the boy, he didn't even know that his hallucinations were fakes, that he was just as crazy as the old coot Victor who lived on top of the mountain. His parents never had the heart to tell him about his mental incapacity, they simply let him live in his own fabricated world of delusions and lies."I wish I had one. You must be very special to have such an honorable companion." At the mention of a story, the young man glowed like a shining star, the aching pain of the cold had almost washed away, leaving him with a warm feeling inside,"Stories? I do love a good tale." He didn't understand the concept of having to scare people, he thought that part was exaggerated."What if I told everyone about the the Battle of Argyle? It's my favorite bedtime story!"

"I was thinking a scary story, one of war and gore, laced with valor and death." He replied, ignoring the voice in the back of his head that told him no this was a bad idea and would only bring back fresh memories of his brother. They didn't have to base it on wolves. No, it could easily be bears instead. There was no need to mention wolves at all, and all they needed to do was scare the rest of their companions for a bit of fun. "What about bears?"

Taking an unconscious half-step back, Ari surveyed Nathan with a wary expression. His brow furrowed, a crease appearing above each eyebrow, and he gnawed absently on his bottom lip as he attempted to puzzle out what the other boy had meant. Guardian angel? Opening his mouth to ask him, Ari swallowed his words as Nathan leapt onto another topic. He studied the boy in front of him with a frightening intensity in his brown eyes; there was something about him, something he couldn't quite put a finger on... Ari shook his head to clear it, displacing a pile of snow that had collected on top. He looked up, studying the sky with anxiety written across his features. If this light snowfall turned into a blizzard, they would all have a serious problem. Swallowing dryly, he brought his attention back earthward.
"Bears sounds... good." Ari added, nodding vigorously. He'd always been scared of bears; huge masses of fur and claws and teeth, seething with violence and raw power... A shiver crawled up his spine, independent of the cold. Only one Ssael had a bear Guide right now -Ari didn't know her personally, but he'd seen the woman upon occasion, her massive, dark shadow trailing after her. Ari didn't understand how animals could even get that big. Fists clenching and unclenching, Ari attempted to return circulation to his fingers as he stood in the snow beside Korbin and Nathan. He didn't want to frighten anyone, not really. They didn't need it right now -he was scared enough as it was, the heavy weight of the Passage bearing down on his shoulders. But his tongue was thick and sluggish, and he didn't have the gall to voice is dissent, as it were. This was the first time he'd been accepted by others around his age in... years. Far too long.
Ari had forgotten the warmth that accompanied companionship, the comforting knowledge that he was -for now- accepted, wrapped around his shoulders like a blanket. It was nice. Too nice to forsake.
