||Jemannie Ina Linn||18 years old ||Alone||Single||Her eyes scanned the unfamiliar platform, and she stood there hesitantly. Sometimes, she would start taking a few steps in one direction, before suddenly changing her mind and coming to a stop. Then, she would pause a moment, before trying the other direction, only to do the exact same thing. Someone had even hit her while she was doing this, and she was pretty sure she had made quite a few people angry over this. But it wasn’t her fault, she was simply lost!
Spotting a map posted in one of those glass cases, she hurried over, trying to see if she could spot Buscherine Lane on the map. She stood and stared for a good five minutes, her eyes scanning every single one of the little roads with the even tinier writing. A sudden tap on her shoulder sent her jumping, and she was glad she didn’t let out a screech as she turned and saw this little old lady standing there with the biggest smile. She looked ready to offer Jemannie some cookies and warm milk, but instead just asked her a question. “You are lost.”
Okay, maybe it was more of a statement than a question, but Jemannie nodded, red in the face with embarrassment. The old lady chuckled. “I live around here, I could give you directions.”
Jemannie smiled brightly, while secretly wanting to start smacking her forehead against the glass case for not thinking of
asking for directions from someone. “Oh, yes please. I am looking for Buscherine Lane?”
The old lady gave another smile, and started rambling off street names, turns, and landmarks. Jemannie thanked her and began to head right, just as the helpful senior had instructed. A few turns down the path though, she was lost again. She stood at a red house, and was trying to remember if she had to turn left or right. She was ready to punch herself this time, and was wondering if she should trust her instinct. Jemannie always did have a knack for getting lost, and wondered if she should go against her instinct as it would probably lead her to the right way.
But, with her luck, going the other way would simply lead her the wrong way! It was quite a dilemma. But, deciding to trust her gut, she decided to go left. After a good five minutes of walking, she wanted to woot or something, as she had picked the right way. Here she was, Buscherine Lane. Now all she had to do was find number seventeen.
