indentationOctavia looked up just in time to nearly hit a dinner plate sized leaf the was hanging down from a tree. Finn knocked it out of the way right before she hit it. "Thanks!" O gasped, recovering from her near heart attack. Lorielle laughed at her and she shot a playful glare at her, still arm and arm with Finn. While the others trailed behind them. Octavia untwisted her arm from Finn's and half ran half scrambled up the steep slope. As she came to the crest of the hill she gasped and dropped to the ground. "Guys! Guys, come up here! Look at this!" O whispered loudly. She looked over the hill and smiled. There at the bottom of the slope was a herd of Deer. Octavia took in a breath looking at them. She smiled wider as she saw there were a couple young in the herd. As the others made their way up the slope O looked around searching for anything that might be useful.

Octavia looked back down at the others. "Well! Are you guys coming?" She was mainly talking to Clarke who seemed to be hanging back, she probably didn't trust Octavia, I mean O hadn't really given her a reason to trust her, so she could understand that much. Octavia smiled looking around again. She caught sight of something moving in the trees and she looked in theat direction, but the movement was gone. What she did see though was... "Water!" Octavia raised her voice slightly and pointed over to her left. There must have been a large stream here as there was mist rising in the air. Octavia turned to Finn smiling. "See I can be more than just a pretty face." She joked. Laughing she moved forward, trying to move down the hill without startling the heard of deer.

Lorielle
19 ~ cis female ~ straight ~ tagged: Octavia, Finn ~ mentioned: Clarke, Brooke

Lorielle struggled to contain her laughing as she watched Octavia recover from what may have seemed like a brush with death but was really just a massive leaf. She was original, Lorielle gave her that and now that they had freedom, she was glad to see her new friend enjoying life. Lorielle had stopped to collect a few of the leaves to use as extra coverage at the camp when Octavia sucked in a large gasp and sprinted away, startling alarm within Lorielle. Her heart raced as she followed, sprinting up a hill which was hard for her to do, especially with her bucket swinging everywhere.

"What- Oh my god, look !" she exclaimed, dropping low down beside Octavia. She couldn't recall for the life of her what those things were called but they were magnificent with their tan colorings, thinner legs but they truly looked like animal of peace. She had barely been crouching their long when Octavia called out again. Lorielle closed her eyes for a moment, able to notice the sound of rushing water. "Good spotting!" she cheered, tapping Octavia on the shoulder for a moment before making her way down the slope towards the source of running water.

For a moment following, Finn fell quiet again, deciding to take the opportunity he had now to soak up his surroundings. He hadn't ever paid as much attention in his classes as he knew he should have, but now he was beginning to wonder if that had been for the better. Sure, he knew about the basics of Earth. The failed air quality, the many animals and plants, all that. But the interior details, the specifics down to a tee? It was quite amazing to watch unfold right before his very eyes. Perhaps it was a bit foolish of him to be so mesmerized by the colour green the plants around him were made up of, but going from dull, neutral shades to popping colour was something that needed a major adjustment.

After he answered to the thanks of the two girls, Finn only let a small, evidently forced smile on his face at Lorielle's comment regarding the buckets they were carrying. It wasn't even a surprise, having someone shut down his words. He was used to it. To practically everyone else, he was just the rebel who caused problems. No smarts involved. At that, he felt a stir of something ─ homesickness, maybe? ─ inside his stomach. Raven knew better. Raven wouldn't shut down his observations. Did she even know he was alive? Surely the flashing bracelet strapped to his wrist gave it away. Was she watching?

His eyes moved away from Lorielle without saying a word to her, settling back on Clarke. She was quiet, now, either struck by their surroundings or deep in thought regarding their trip out. Finn didn't go up to her again. His high energy had dimmed, most likely because everything hit him at once and now he was feeling fatigued, and he didn't need to cause more problems.

His spirits were momentarily lifted as Octavia called them over. Side-stepping Lorielle, Finn added extra strength to his legs to ease into the climb up the slope a bit better. For a moment, he wasn't able to figure out what she was looking at. And then he did. Deer. A small herd of them, maybe a bit less than a dozen or so, grazing peacefully in the distance. Although Octavia and Lorielle had already moved on, Finn's gaze continued to linger on them, and he felt his stomach flip as one turned to look at him. Bile rose in his throat, and he swallowed weakly. This was no proper deer. Even though it was distanced, Finn saw it effortlessly ─ a broken face. "Clarke," he called to the blonde, waving her over. "That's not... What the hell is wrong with that?" Concern washed over his features, but it seemed the animal appeared to have sensed his discomfort, because it took off, then. He was having a difficult time shaking the sight, but the more he thought about it, the more he began to question if he was seeing things or not. Did Clarke notice, or would she shut him down, too?

Determined not to fall into misery, especially in a place like this, Finn shook his head and continued walking, keeping his eyes connected on Octavia's person. "That you are," he agreed in a more light-hearted tone at her gentle teasing, offering a chuck that surprisingly came out more easily than suspected. He continued down the path, gaze now lingering on the water. It was sparkling with the help of the sun, which was peaking out from around the tree tops. Blue, a vibrant blue, though softer than the colour of Octavia's eyes. Peace overpowered him, and he sucked in a big breath before picking up the pace, breaking into an excited jog. "This is sick!"

the healer had always had a soft spot for the horses. they were majestic creatures, and incredibly loyal, too. her black stallion, sheigeda, was a very tall one. giulie fed him some grain before taking him out of the stall and mounting her horse. she ran her hand through his silky mane and adjusted her reins.

she glanced over to aliyah's stall. her horse was still there. it wasn't unlike aliyah to run off, but she would've thought the commander's second would want to join this important mission. giulietta let it go and looked over towards lexa, who had rode over near her. she nodded at the commander's question and started her horse.

DO YOU THINK I WANTED THIS?

CLARKE
" ι вєαя ιт ѕσ тнєу ∂ση'т нανє тσ "
∂σιηg; Looking for water, herbs and possibly food | ℓσcαтιση; Drop ship
тαgs; Finn, Octavia, Brooke, Foster, Lorielle

She had missed the discovery of the buckets, too surprised and excited by her own discovery to realize what had happened. It would do her no good out here if she couldn't multi-task, and not paying attention was just going to cause her trouble. As they headed through the forest, she took in the site of it, the smells, the sounds of the dried leaves crunching beneath her feet and she considered what Finn had said. He was right, 100 year old metal probably wasn't the ideal container for water, not to mention it could already be contaminated with god knows what was previously held within in it. They had no real way to know what they have previously been used to store, or if they had been properly cleaned before being sent down with them.

"Finn's right." She said to the group, a few minutes into their trek. "We have no idea what used to be in those buckets or if they're clean, so probably best to not use them for water." She had opened her mouth to mention something else, but the discovery of the small herd of deer killed that thought on her tongue. She took in their forms, the elegance with which they moved, in silent wonder. Mouth slightly open, eyes wide, she watched them for several moments, before the group started to move on again. She didn't want to be left behind in this unfamiliar place.

At the call of her name, Clarke spun her head quickly in Finns direction. She had been trying so hard not to look at him, to try to ignore the odd sensation of jealousy that was gnawing at her stomach -- what did she have to be jealous about anyway? She quickly pushed aside the pang as she made her way to him, crouching beside him, eyes intent on his face as she searched for the reason for his call. She could feel the warmth from his body and had a moment to wonder if she had crouched to close before his words registered. Turning her head to look where he was indicating, a shocked gasp sprung from her lips. Her stomach turned, rolling at the site of the twin heads looking at her.

"Radiation." She whispered quietly, unsure if she was trying to answer his question or just thinking out loud. "Its mutated." She turned to Finn again, concern plainly written on her face. If that deer was mutated, there was probably a good chance that the other animals would be too. Would they be safe to eat? Would eating any that had affects of radiation have any bad affects on them? Before she had time to voice those concerns the call of water from Octavia had her standing again and almost running to see it. She had only ever seen pictures of what a body of water would look like and she was very excited to see what form this water would take. Lake? River? Stream?

She snorted quietly at Finns remark that she was, indeed, more than a pretty face. Again that pang of jealousy twisted like a knot in her stomach. She had no reason to be jealous, there were more important things than boys at a time like this. She should be more focused on surviving, not of what Finn thought of the other girl. So instead of dwelling on it, she followed the group quickly and offered Octavia a smile.
"Good job on finding the water! This might even be large enough to have fish, if we can ever figure out how to catch them."

I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW YOU EXISTED

indentationOctavia smiled at Finn's reply. So he thought that she was more than a pretty face, O was probably taking the response a totally different way then Finn had intended it, but she didn't care. Octavia half ran half stumbled down the side of the steep hill. She didn't see the mutated deer, or anything else. She was so focused on getting to the water, She didn't hear Clarke's praise either. Octavia stopped as she reached the waters edge. She smiled widly to herself and then looked over at Lorielle who was right beside her. Octavia let out a girlish giggle, stooping down, touching her fingers to the cool liquid. Octavia's laughter rang out through the clearing and she played in the water like a child. She felt free, like nothing she had ever felt before. She looked back at Lorielle with a wide grin. Cupping some water in her hands, she threw it at the blonde girl, splashing the water over Lorielle's shirt. Octavia laughed and without waiting for the others she stripped herself down to her undergarments and stepped up onto a rock a little ways away.

Octavia looked down the the rest of the group as they caught up. She smiled at them and then jumped into the water. She crouched in the water, moving her arms like she was floating in the water, but really her feet were on the ground and the water would have only come up to her naval. She grinned at the group as they looked over the edge of the rock and then she stood showing them that it wasn't as deep as they had thought. Octavia laughed, "Come on! It's nice and cool! It feels so good!" O said, her call ringing out in the silence of the forest.

indentationAli nodded to Zar. "I can understand that."She said, looking over to Faye she grinned. "So just you and me then? We would have to stay farther back If you don't want to run into Heda." Ali said contemplating the situation. She turned and looked back at Zar. She smiled at him, "When are you coming back to the camp? Mother misses you." Ali said. She brought up their mother because she thought that it would be the only thing that would make him come back. Though it was true that their mother missed Zar, Ali missed him most. When they were younger they used to play together all the time and were nearly inseparable. But now... Ali sighed, missing the old times where they were young and carefree.

"Anyway, Heds's going to see if any of our people were hurt. She thinks that the crash my have been near the river to the East." Ali reported, shaking off the moment of sadness.

The excitement that radiated off of Octavia was enough to light up the entire forest. Joy was practically shimmering against her smooth skin, her smile filled with so much glee and innocence that it was warming, almost physically. Finn himself was still a bit hesitant to run forward into the water, still a bit shaken by what he had set eyes on a few seconds prior, but it was evident neither Octavia nor Lorielle saw it. Maybe that was for the best. Finn rarely overthought things, he always believed himself to be rather straightforward and to the point, but he was heavily dwelling on the deer now. Were they all like that? He had only focused on one. His mind kept flickering back and forth between the wild animal and the sparkling water before them. Octavia's cries of joy were almost enough to block out what he had seen. He watched from a safe distance as she and Lorielle fooled around in the water like they were five again, but stopped short of coming any closer when he realized Octavia was already removing layers from her body, suggesting she was going to go for a swim.

Embarrassed, he looked down at the softened soil underneath their shoes, then focused his attention back on Clarke. She was smiling too, a smaller one, more reserved, but endearing nonetheless. Based on the look in her crystal eyes, Finn got the impression she was distracted. He glanced at the water again, then moved closer to Clarke once more. "You don't think the water is affected at all, do you? Or the things inside of it?" he asked, keeping his tone low so that he would get a response from Clarke and Clarke only. "You probably know more about this stuff than anyone else." Maybe it was a stupid question, but it was genuine. If the radiation had caused such horror on something like a deer, who knew what else it had touched? Finn wasn't sure what the case would be regarding water. It seemed fine from where he was standing, but Earth seemed to have a lot of surprises. He valued Clarke's knowledge and intelligence over the rest. She'd agreed with him on his bucket comment, which sealed the deal. Finn didn't care too much that it took someone else to say what he had said earlier. As long as people listened, it was good enough for him. Two against one ─ that made it relatively promising.

Although Finn stayed close to Clarke, far enough back that he wouldn't get splashed from the two playing girls, he let his gaze fall back onto the water. "Are you going to go in?" he asked her a moment longer, allowing his gaze to shift back to her so his eyes could search her face. "If you think it's okay?"

Ket
---------------------------------
Female | 26 |+| Location: forest | Tags: n/a

Two swords and a ratty rucksack thumped up onto the leaflitter from a hole in a small hillock. After a moment of faffing, Ket hoisted herself up onto the ledge of the opening and crawled out, grumbling under her breath. Sure, this overturned metal cart was a good shelter, but it was a pain in the rear end to get into and out of. And it had a habit of filling up with water when the rainy season came. She'd stumbled onto it entirely by accident some months ago while running from a big cat, she'd seen the small dark opening in the ground and gone for it, thinking it was a cave or an animal hole. The big cat was long gone, but she'd decided to make the dank subterranean space her camp.

Squatted down, she grabbed handfuls of moss and the discarded tree branches she used as a covering and stuffed them over the opening she had just climbed from. Sheathing her swords in the scabbards strapped to her back, she grabbed her rucksack and stood up. She was running low on food, and would rather avoid going to the nearest village until she absolutely had to, which meant she need to go find things. There was a lake nearby where she knew there would be fish, and she could stop along the way at the patch of tubers she'd found the other day.

Since her surprise encounter with the big cat she was more cautious than usually which meant she travelled slower. And much to her annoyance, Ket discovered that most of the tubers had been dug up by wild pigs. Ket crouched down to examine the tossed earth and munched on vegetables. There was no point setting up a trap now. With an annoyed growl she stood up and continued on her way to the lake.

Indi
---------------------------------
Female | 23 |+| Location: forest | Tags: n/a

Indi crouched, thumbing at the leaf of a small plant. She drew her hand back to her face and inhaled. Yep, peppermint. She plucked a few stems, with a gentleness that seemed out of place given her large hands, and carefully wrapped them in a scrap of cloth before depositing them into the messenger bag around her torso. She got up and continued on her way.

Like many others in the village, she'd seen and heard the star that had fallen out of the sky. The chief had told everyone that they should stay away from the area until Heda sent warriors to investigate, but Indi couldn't help her curiosity. So, under the guise of collecting herbs - in case the star had injured anyone - she set off to find the place it had landed. She did of course stop and collect plants along the way.

As she drew closer to where she thought the celestial body had fallen, she found that she was as nervous and frightened as she was excited. What did a star look like? She didn't know if anyone had seen a star up close before.

Lorielle
19 ~ cis female ~ straight ~ tagged: Octavia ~ mentioned: Clarke

Lorielle remained captivated by the silent tranquillity of the forest and she shivered, unsure if she was excited or terrified. This place was so beautiful but she didn't know how to handle it and something wasn't right with those animals. At least they didn't look to be violent which was the least of their worries. She inclined her head towards Clarke to indicate that she had taken in what the girl had said about the buckets, silently hoping that others brought canteens too. The deer moved on, quietly making their way past the group, seeming to not be bothered by their presence if they had noticed at all. Octavia had already lept to her feet, Clarke and Finn in tow. Lorielle was not far behind Octavia, running to keep up with the excited girl.

Before she knew it, the girl was taking off a few layers of clothes before leaping into the water. Lorielle's stomach lurched. "What if-" she began but stopped herself. She didn't want to be the one to ruin the fun AND loose a friend in the process. Lorielle had kicked off her shoes and stood up to her ankles, unsure if she actually wanted to go in. She couldn't help but smile at her friend as she kicked and splashed around.
