Brief Description:
Sketch is around average height standing at about 5'10" and has a thin, lanky build with strong, wiry muscles. His skin is darker, a combination of being outside in the sun for long periods of time and from a mixed Romani heritage. His hair is a very dark brown colour with some sun-lightened pieces and normally falls just above his eyes, sometimes half covering them. His eyes are a rich brown colour, though they rarely show much emotion.
On a normal day, Sketch would wear plain clothes of faded colour so as not to stand out in a crowd. Even in hot weather he keeps his arms covered so as to hide the scars that were gained in street fights.
History:
Sketch's family originates from the Romani people in Italy. However, due to his grandfather's behaviour, and later his father's behaviour, they were no longer welcomed among their own people. Both his father and grandfather were thieves and conmen, which is exactly what Sketch turned out to be. His mother, though, was of French origin and she too also fell into thieving and conning people. Probably how his parents met, Sketch assumes.
Sketch spent much of his time travelling over land with his parents, moving from country to country, going where ever they found a good con. During his travelling he learned small portions of a variety of languages, though courtesy to his mother the one he's closest to being fluent in is French. Most of the time he simple sticks to English as it is the language he knows best.
From a young age, starting at around age four, Sketch was taught the art of stealing and eventually how to con people. Along with that he was taught the basics of reading and writing, tools to help in the more complicated of cons. Until the age of ten he helped out his parents in their cons and did small amounts of stealing. At the age of ten, however, he began planning his own cons and by the time he was fourteen he was rarely around his parents.
Due to the amount of travelling he did, he didn't often have time to make proper friends. The people around his age that he would fall in with were the type that you might see in poorer parts. Quite often he found himself getting in fights with them. He learned quickly that fights in and around the ports could get dangerous which lead to him learning how to fight. He also started stealing different weapons that he could use to defend himself if a fistfight went wrong or if a con fell apart.
Shortly before he turned fifteen, a con went awry and Sketch found himself in trouble with the law. From there he decided to leave his family and join a crew of pirates as it was the easiest way for him to escape the authorities while still being himself.
Personality:
Sketch seems friendly, outgoing, and charming on the outside. The type of person that you'd want to be around and who seems like an all-around friendly soul. This is partially true, he does enjoy the company of others, however it's also what made him a good conman. He has no intention of having close friendships even though other people might believe they're friends with him. The closest bond he's ever developed is the one he has with his crewmates, one that exists due to the amount of time he spends around them.
Trust is very much a foreign concept to Sketch. Again, the closest thing he has to trust is towards his crewmates, and, more specifically, his captain. He is very careful about what he says, believes, and keeps with him, as his life as a thief and conman left him cautious and observant.
Sketch has a way with words and knows what it takes to convince a person. The truth isn't something that Sketch is comfortable with and he'll normally stick to lies. Even his own history isn't something he lets people know about, no matter their relationship to him, instead preferring to let them think that he was a street urchin before becoming a pirate. Because, really, who would trust him if they knew he was a conman?
